Advantages: Nice range of colours and well priced
Disadvantages: Two coats needed each time and chips away too easily
I am a real fan of Avon products and am therefore a regular buyer from their catalogue. I have tried and tested most make-up and skin ranges from their book and recently brought for the first time a nail varnish from their Color Trend range.
The Color Trend range is the 'bottom end' range from Avon. Many of Avons products are of a good quality in my opinion, however they are also quite expensive. This range from Avon is the opposite. Many of the products in this range aren't of the highest quality, but they are far more affordable.
Color Trend nail varnishes are available in six different shades. These are:-
Cafe Au Lait
Flash
Freezing
Iced Champink
Minimalist Peach
Powdery Mauve
All the above are colours are quite natural looking colours and tones. None of them are particuarly vibrant so can be used for everyday use as well as night use.
The colour glides on easily and is not too thin and runny so doesn't create much in the way of mess. I am really impressed with the range of colours available and would quite happily try all of them.
I applied the nail varnish to my finger and toe nails. The colour was dry within a couple of minutes, though I did notice that it didn't give really even coverage so had to use two coats to get the desired look.
It left my nails looking really stylish and I was really impressed. However, this feeling didn't really last long as I noticed just the next day that the nail varnish was starting to chip away already.
This is only a cheap version of Avons nail varnishes so I wasn't expecting miracles, however I would have expected it to last longer than it did, especially as I had applied two coats in the first place.
For this reason I would recommend Color Trend nail varnishes for their range of colours, but not if you are after a long lasting nail varnish. These are great as a quick-fix (i.e for a night out), but after that you will need some kind of re-application.
The Color Trend range of nail varnishes are priced at just £2.75 per bottle, though you can quite often get them cheaper when they are on offer. For example at present they are on offer for £2.50 per bottle and you can quite often get three products from the Color Trend range for £5.00, which is pretty good value for money. Although they are quite cheap, you only get an 8ml bottle for this price and since you need a couple of coats for a really great look it won't last you too long.
If you are a fan of Avon products and are after a really good quality nail varnish which is long lasting then I suggest you look at their pro-enamel range of nail varnishes instead which have some fabulous colours on offer, though these are priced at £6.00 per bottle (though again you can sometimes get these on offer too).
These nail varnishes are exclusive to Avon and can be brought on-line at WWW.AVONSHOP.CO.UK or through your local representative.
All in all these Color Trend nail varnishes offer a great range of colours, though unfortunately the varnish itself doesn't really come up to scratch in my opinion. Its a shame really and I think they could make more of this range.
This range is definitely the 'lower end' range of the market offered by Avon and if the pennies are tight then you can get some really affordable make-up products from this range. Though obviously you get what you pay for so don't expect too much in the way of quality from them.
Summary: A good little nail varnish range for those on a budget

- 09/11/09 I love nail polish and buy Stargazer from Ebay, but they have just starting selling it in New Look in some gorgeous neon colours and it honestly lasts for ages before chipping! Well worth the money! x |
