**The nail polish**
When I can across this in the Avon catalogue I decided at £1.50 it was worth a try. Colour trend is Avon's bargain make up range which I have found to be a little hit and miss. There is not a great deal of shades available in this range, and I do find most of the colour is bright rather than deep and warm. I like it as it gives a lovely shine once applied to the nails which is not too over the top yet still looks pretty. I find that the colours suit day to day wear a little more than a more glam colour for special occasions.
I chose the dusty pink shade, and this is a lovely light colour that looks lovely on my nails. It is a nice subtle colour but still adds a little sparkle to my nails. I find that the pot is a little smaller than other brands I use, which in turn means the application brush smaller too. The lid is comfortable enough to hold while applying it to my nails easily. I do find because it is a small brush you have more control over it in application. With a few strokes of the brush the whole nail can be covered easily.
**Applying and results**
The lid of the pot is a little smaller than usual so I needed to get used to holding it, but once I had applied it to my first few nails it felt comfy enough. I find that the brush is a good size to coat the nails easily; however the colour is not very pigmented so I do feel I need to add two coats. I also find the consistency of the polish is a little runny, not so much so it falls off the brush on my nails. I like to wipe it against the bottle neck so it takes away any excess before I begin and I find this work well to stop it from pooling on my nails.
Once I apply the varnish to my nails it dry's fairy quickly so I can quickly apply the second coat. This means although it does take a little more time than other nail polishes it is not too much so I am put off wearing this brand. Also with one coat the varnish looks streaky no matter how much you try to get rid of the strokes from the brush, it will need a second coat to cover these. I like to add three coats just as it lasts a little longer. I find that three coats goes on very easily without my nails looking messy or too built up. However this means that when it begins to chip it peels of very easily and one small chip can mean the whole of the colour is ruined.
The nail varnish does not last very well at all. I apply it the evening before on most occasions as this is when it is best for me when the children are sleeping. It starts off well with the polish looking nice and fresh on my nails. The finish is even and although I have to apply a few coats for it to look all one shade, my nails do not look messy or uneven. However, as soon as I begin my daily routine the varnish begins to chip very easily. Sometimes after a few hours I find I need to re do them as my nails look like they were done a few days ago rather than a few hours.
If I add three coats of varnish rather than two it does last a little longer so this is what I tend to do. I still have to remove it after two days maximum as otherwise they look tired and chipped. The nail polish comes off very easily with remover, but I also find once it begins to chip you can actually peel it off your nails in large amounts. This is why you need to touch it up if it begins to chip as otherwise it will come away in big strips which is not a very good look. It is a shame that it does not last well as it actually look rather nice on the nails. You can see that it is not the best of quality but it is a lot better than the finish I expected from such a cheap product. I believe these would be better if you know you plan on changing the colour very quickly.
I do like this nail varnish for a quick fix of colour, and it is cheap enough for me not to worry how long it lasts on my nail. I usually use this when I know I want to change the colour a few times in a short period as this means it is not disappointing when I need to remove it after just one or two days. I think usual retail of this polish is around £3 but to be honest I have never brought it full price. I usually purchase it when it is on offer for £1.50. I do feel this is a fair price to pay as even if you do not like it you're not wasting a lot of money. I personally will not be buying this again as it doesn't have the right staying however at that price it is worth a go in case you find it better than I did.
Summary: A cheap nail varnish that chips
