Advantages: Easy to apply and carry with you, Long Lasting, Very reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Cheap looking packaging
Santa was good to me once again. It is funny how an old man always knows what things to buy me, a woman in her twenties! This year amongst my stocking presents were a couple of these squeezy tube nail enamels from Avon called Color Trend Squeezie Nail Colour. Novel I thought and then brushed them aside to play with seemingly more interesting gifts. Now the novelty of those has worn off and I am back to the practicalities of everyday life and that includes painting my nails. Avon catalogues always contain some bargains and these were some of those pre-Christmas ones seemingly, well they must be as all my friends got them as well. ~~~So, what are they exactly?~~~ Avon Color Trend Squeezie Nail Colour is a 15ml plastic squeezy tube containing nail polish. It comes in a number of shades and can be bought for £2.99 usually. However, in the December edition of the Avon magazine they were on offer for 2 for £5.00. They come in many nice shades as well, suitable for even the most fashion conscious amongst us. When you unscrew the black lid on the tube it reveals a brush. This interested me, as instead of the usual 2 piece nail bottle and lid brush set the brush and bottle is all in one. For those like me this was very appealing, as I seem to always knock nail polish over and cause a real mess. With this product, that simply wouldn’t happen and I held it upside down to check leak ability. Much to my surprise it didn’t leak and only came out when the plastic container was gently squeezed. Although I don’t advocate children using make-up, I think this would be ideal for girls and young adults just experimenting, as it lessens the chance for mess. After being impressed with what the product potentially offered, I went on to try it out. Gently squeezing the plastic tube the polish started to come out along the brush and it then easily went on to the nails. It seemed to go on a lot quicker than with regu
lar pots of nail polish as you could constantly keep control of the flow of polish and did not have to keep re-dipping your brush back in the polish pot. I give this product top marks for applicability. The next test would be durability and how long the polish would last before I had to re-apply it. Indeed on my toes it lasted over a week before another application. This pleased me too. It appears to be hard wearing and chip resistant too. My one real concern in all this was that the brush would get all clogged up and after it dried out you would never be able to use the product again. I was so paranoid that I actually sat and cleaned the brush with nail polish remover the first time. However, that was obviously not going to keep happening. Next time I decided to just leave it as intended and see what happened. A week on and the bristles are all loose and usable and the polish continues to flow easily through them. I have to admit I have no idea how this works, but am impressed. This product seemed a little too good to be true when I first got it. However, in the few weeks that I have been experimenting with it I am increasingly impressed. If I have one complaint it is the appearance of it. The plastic tube is really quite cheap and tacky looking. This can be seen as being light and easy to carry in your handbag though I guess. Indeed this product would be good for taking out as it is so easy to apply that you could just touch up your nails if they accidentally chip. I was thinking it would be good to take to interviews incase your nail polish chips and looks unsightly! At £2.99 or £2.50 when on offer, this nail polish compares favourably in price to all others on the market and it is surprisingly good as well.
