“ Brand: Avon / Type: Mascara / Suitable for: Eye „
I got Avon Color Trend plump out mascara as part of a gift set last Christmas, but haven't tried it out until recently as I've had so many other mascaras on the go.
~ Price and availability ~
This mascara usually costs £4.50, but it is currently reduced to £2.00 on the Avon website, www.avonshop.co.uk. It is also available to order from the Avon brochure through your local Avon representative.
~ Appearance ~
It comes in a long black tube with the Color Trend logo and the words 'plump out' in blue lettering.
The lid of the mascara is also blue. There is a sticker on the bottom of the mascara, which has the colour of the mascara on. My mascara is black.
The side of the tube also tells us that there is 7ml of mascara in this tube.
~ Use ~
The mascara brush is fairly standard. The bristles are quite short, but there are lots of them and they seem quite close together.
To use it I comb it through my eyelashes and repeat the process until I feel that I have a good coverage of it.
The website says of this mascara, 'Plump up the volume! This hi-tech brush seperates individual lashes with its dual-bristles. With double the bristles, you get double the volume.'
The mascara looks very natural on. It does not go clumpy or stick your lashes together at all.
I would not say that it gives them volume, thickness or extra length. It simply gives your lashes a coat of black mascara making them look more defined. I would agree that it does separate your lashes.
The mascara lasts well and is still looking as good as when it was applied around 12 hours later.
It doesn't smudge or rub off onto my skin and it doesn't irritate my eyes at all.
~ Overall ~
Overall, I think this is a good every day mascara. It simply coats your lashes with colour, without being clumpy and it keeps your lashes separate.
I think it is worth £4.50, but there is more often than not and offer on Avon's make-up ranges so it is great if you can get it for less.
I bought Avon Color trend Plump Out Mascara on the three for two offer a few months ago and unlike most of the other Color Trend products, I was rather pleased with the results from this mascara.
To apply this mascara you simply take the applicator brush out of the tube and then gently pull the brush through your eyelashes, blinking to make sure the tips are covered and shaped nicely.
The applicator brush on this mascara is quite basic, but it does the job and gives your lovely eyelashes, also the mascara doesn't clump much in it which is an added plus.
I really like this mascara and use it quite a bit, it leaves my eyelashes quite big and wide, it isn't as good as some other mascara's on the market.
It is however definitely great value and does work very well. I liked this mascara because it gives full and volumised lashes, though the results are quite subtle compared to other mascara's I have used so most people may prefer to use this mascara for cheap, everyday use.
Avon Color trend Plump Out Mascara comes in two colours, black and brown, I have bought both colours and like wearing the brown every day as it doesn't look as dramatic as the black, though if I am making a little extra effort I like to wear the black one as well.
Price and Availability
You can buy this mascara either through your Avon representative or online, it is almost always on offer but retails in around £4.25 at full price, which is quite reasonable for mascara.
Overall I was very pleased with this mascara, it doesn't give you WOW lashes, but it is a nice subtle mascara that could be used every day and of course it is very cheap as well which is an added plus. Overall I would give this mascara 4 out of 5 stars.

Avon plump out mascara comes in a black bottle with a blue lid and costs about £4.25 for a 7ml tube.
This mascara is available in Avon books, provided by door-to-door Avon reps, or of course on the Avon website and is part of the Color Trend product range.
The lid is quite big which allows for a good grip. The brush is a spiral shape and is about 3cm in length so you can apply mascara fairly quickly if needs be as it covers a lot in one stroke.
I am quite fussy about my mascara's as I like my make-up to look its best when I wear it, and this one does it's job well enough. :)
It can be used sparingly for a more natural look, or can be applied two or three times to each eye for a more glamorous look. So it's a pretty versatile mascara which I think is quite hard to find these days. Particularly with all the big brands going for the fake lash look and the "bigger is better" philosophy behind their products.
The actual liquid is fairly runny when you first apply it so I tend to do one eye, then do the other while the first dries a little, then go back to the first eye so it's a little thicker and easier to work with, and then do the second eye again to achieve a "plumped out" look. Quite a time consuming way of applying mascara I realise, but it works so I can't complain.
Another advantage to this product is that it seems to be on sale in the Avon book or on the website all the time so you'll always be able to purchase it. Surely that's a plus?
I would certainly recommend this mascara to anyone. Particularly to people who, like me, like to experiment with different make-up styles.
I first used this mascara borrowed off my friend. I'd forgotten mine and HATE going without. When she first handed me the mascara i thought the packaging was really cheap looking, like something you could get for a pound, but when she informed me it was by Avon i was really surprised.
So i applied the mascara onto my bare lashes. Wow, the appliction was divine, smooth, and no clumping whatsoever! I find this a rarity in mascaras, even if they claim to have a "clump reducer" or whatever.
This mascara fanned out my lashes, made them look big and full, but fluttery and soft. No spider legs or sticking together! Yey!
All in all, i would say, apart from Max Factor False Lash Effect, this is the best mascara i have ever used. And i will DEFINITLY be getting one for myself asap. Thank you so so much Avon!
Avon is a well established brand and produce several ranges of make-up for varying purposes. Color Trend is aimed at younger girls and those shopping on a budget. As the name suggests there are usually a wide range of colour choices and the shades follow current fashion trends.
You can purchase Avon products from your local door-to-door sales representative, or by shopping at their online store. Plump Out mascara costs £4.25 for a 7ml tube, and is often included in special offers so you can get it at an even cheaper price if you are lucky. My partner bought this for me along with a gorgeous green eyeliner, and I was happy to give it a try. Mascaras are my favourite make-up items and it's something I couldn't be without. Definitely a daily essential along with lip balm and a quick cover-up.
This mascara is available in two shades, black or brown/black. I've used the black one and it gives a lovely dark colour over your lashes, which really makes them stand out. The liquid is quite runny and comes out of the tube easily without forming blobs on the brush. It is also very easy to transfer from the brush to your lashes, it spreads very easily and I have not suffered with clumps when using it. A few times this has made my eyelashes stick together and look a bit spidery, which can be rectified if you give a quick brush with an eyelash comb.
I can't say I have noticed any visible plumping effect from using this mascara. Obviously when my lashes are coated they look somewhat thicker than normal, but the volume was not at all impressive, and it gives a natural look. I have tried brushing on, and wiggling the brush horizontally when applying to try and create extra volume but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Two coats helps but still doesn't create a huge impact. I usually apply one coat to wear during the day, it seems to lengthen my lashes a bit and makes them look darker, just not plumped. 2 out of three ain't bad! Removing is hassle-free and I have not noticed any sensitivity from using this product.
I needed a new mascara recently but when I went shopping I was dismayed by how much these girly essentials cost. Unless you are prepared to buy low quality mascara products aimed at teenagers (Miss Sporty, for example) then you have to expect to pay around £6-12 for a tube, with most big name brands being at the maximum end of that spectrum! I then remembered Avon. I'm not a regular customer of this door-to-door sales team company but I like to buy a few bargains now and again. I have a neighborhood rep but the company also have an online website shop and here you'll find a lot of products at sales prices.
If you search for 'mascara' on Avon's website you'll be shown search results of about half a dozen different mascaras. This particular product is part of Avon's Colortrend range - note the U.S spelling. The extensive range also includes foundation, lipsticks and eye shadows.
The mascara is available in two shades: black or brown/black which is a rich cocoa colour. My review is for the pure black shade.
The mascara comes as a 7ml small bottle or tube of which the contents will stay fresh for up to six months. It has a large top which allows for a good, sturdy grip. The wand, including the top is just over 4 1/2 inches long. The brush is approximately 3 centimetres long. Avon describe the brush as being "hi-tech" because it has "dual bristles". The brush looks fairly standard to me in design and shape. It has soft, springy, wirey bristles which are positioned in a spiral or helter-skelter style and which taper to a point. I would say that compared with other mascaras I have used that the spiral bristle pattern is definately more compact here - obviously having twice as many bristles in a row as compared with other mascara brushes. The shape of the brush is straight - it doesn't curve like an eyelash line shape. There are no problems with removing the brush from the tube - you don't have to pump the wand too much and the brush is always thickly coated with the liquid mascara.
I was quite surprised when first using this that the mascara liquid was quite runny. It's a little wetter and more fluid than I expected. This means that it's easy to apply - it just glides on - although concurrently it's easy to over apply for the same reason. I was worried the fluid consistency would mean it would be more likely to smudge but this isn't a problem - once it's on the lashes it stays there! The straight brush shape means the lashes in the centre of you eyelash line tend to get the most mascara applied to them unless you can control your application well.
The tight bristle design of the brush means that the mascara is able to be applied quite thickly without much effort. It definately lives up to it's name 'plump out' and creates an instant thickening effect of the eyelashes. It's actually possible to create a variety of looks with this mascara - from dramatic with the normal application to a natural daytime look. The latter look requires a bit more restraint and some combing through with a clean plastic eyelash comb after one application to seperate the lashes and to remove excess mascara colour. I do find it really easy to manage how much mascara I apply though and that's due to how fluid, slippery and oil-like this mascara is. The thinner texture of the mascara means no clumping or any kind of lumps left behind either.
The colour of the mascara is like jet gemstone and as shiny as a killer whale's wet black skin and it makes my lashes look thicker, longer and healthy. I have dark brown lashes and the mascara really makes them stand out.
This mascara is usually priced at £4.25 which is cheap as far as good quality mascaras go. I got mine at half the price so it's worth looking out for it as a brilliant bargain!
The Colortrend mascara and make-up range is available from the website:
AVON COLORTREND PLUMP OUT MASCARA
I got this mascara ages ago from Avon and use it nearly everyday.
It is from the Colortrend section in the Avon brochures, which features make up at economical prices so they are all really low priced and there are some fantastic bargains in this section.
This mascara really is a bargain. In the brochures it is marked at £4.75 which for a mascara is a great price, but on top of this it is also almost always on offer. So for low price this mascara gets full marks, absolutely.
DOES IT WORK WELL?
This mascara in my opinion works really well. It really does plump out my eyelashes as it promises and I really do have no complaints. There are never any clumps and I never have spider lashes. The formula is absolutely brilliant.
My only complaints are with the wand. I have used better ones before and although this is super, super fantastic for the price and I shouldn't really complain maybe the wand is a little chunky.
But the price makes up for this, and it still works really well, so why pay more? I'm definitely not going to and I'll be sticking with this for a long time!
I DEFINITELY recommend this mascara. It's brilliant and a great price to go with it. You can get it in black or brown/black and there is 7ml in it. It has lasted me a good few months of almost everyday use so I have no complaints really.
I absolutely love this mascara- it definitely does "plump out" my lashes, so much so, that I regularly get asked if I am wearing false-eyelashes/have eyelashes extensions in, so they really do help exaggerate my eyelashes. With 2 coats, my eyelashes almost reach my eyebrows now! It really makes a visible difference in my lash length! It does not make eyelashes look clumpy or spidery.
Unfortunately the mascara is not waterproof, but it is therefore easily removable with water and make-up wipes, and smudges can be easily wiped away during application. The mascara dries relatively quickly, and after that, tends to stay put, unless affected by tears or excessive water!
When buying it with Avon, I bought 2, as they were a great price, and they came with additional kajal eyeliners. The bottle is 7ml which lasts for a while, especially as one application is sufficient for the day.
Definitely one of the best mascaras I have tried recently, especially when compared to more pricier brands.
Colour Trend plump out mascara is one of the best I have ever used, absolutely great value for money.
Give you a great, full even lash finish, most woman know that the lashes come out great on one side but never seem to be as good on the other side, leaving your eyes looking odd, we put it down to being left or right handed etc which may be true but I have never had the problem with this product. It may be due to the way the brush is designed and the texture of the mascara but my lashes always look full, long and most importantly even.
I have very long lashes and when I use other mascaras they look average but this product really maximises the effect. With one application the lashes look subtle and natural but with another coat they look dramatically intense and I hardly know its on. When using some mascaras your lashes can feel heavy and can irritate the eyes but I have never had this problem with this product no matter how much I apply.
I have no problems with this product at all and cannot fault it on any level. The product is great value for money, as it is under £5 and is usually on offer.
I have paid 3 times more for a different product which didn't work half as well, Avon have really outdone themselves with such a great product.
The product is not waterproof although I think it is safe to say that if you have one of those drunken moments where you start to cry or get caught in the rain the product wll not run, the only time I have had it smeared over my face is when I have rubbed my eyes. I wear the product daily and have had it for at least 3 months and there is still quite a lot left of it.
A great priced quality product, that will give you all the benefits of a higher priced mascara.
You can buy the Colour Trend plump out mascara from www.avon.uk.com or by ordering from your avon representative.
I bought this mascara as part of a multibuy offer. Avon offers are generally really good, I bought this in a three for £5 offer. Individually it retails at £4.25.
I have worn this mascara both on its own and over the top of a base coat. On its own it offers a good colour and separation. It doesn't really plump the lashes but gives a nice finish. Over a base coat it looks fantastic. It covers really well and gives really long thick lashes.
It is available in black or brown/black. I have used the black and it is a really good intense colour. For a more natural look the brown/black might be a better option.
Value for Money
This mascara offers good value for money on it's own and exceptional value when bought in one of the offers.
Avon products can be bought from Avon Representatives through their catalogues or online at www.avonshop.co.uk
I really like this mascara and will definitely be buying another one when it runs out. The only downside is that to get really fat lashes you need to use a base coat.
I buy alot from Avon especially from the Colour trend brand as they tend to have alot of multibuy or BOGOF offers on their makeup-this being one of them I got but they dont have alot of products that change and this seems to be their only mascara.
I needed an everyday mascara that was not going to cost me a fortune like most do these days and I was fed up of paying out over £8 and not seeing my moneys worth. This was in the brochure on a multibuy offer of 3 products for £6 so at £2 an item it was very cheap!
I found it ok-but it did not do anything exciting to my lashes for me. It states it is a plump up one but I found it didnt change them other then the colour. It was just a basic one I could throw on and go to the shops in, not a going out one for me. (I have blonde eyelashes so wear mascara everyday !)
The product is very slim so was handy if needed to take out with me and the bottle is a good size and it did last me about 6 weeks so overall that was good.
The brush wasnt anything different it was a standard mascara brush -quite small in size brilliant for bottom lashes and it didnt clump!
At a bargain price and as long as you dont want it to do anything special its great to ahve for everyday use.
A good mascara for every day use is a proper cheap one from Avon and you can usually buy them for £2.00 even though they say the full price is £4.25. I buy it for the cheaper price but because it doesn't make much difference to the length or volume of my eye lashes I wouldn't pay much more than that.
It's a basic mascara to make my eyelashes look darker and it doesn't plump out my lashes at all. I have it in black but you can get it in brown/black as well.
In the book it said it has a high tech brush that will separate my lashes but it's exactly the same as one of the Collection 2000 mascara brushes I have got and I can't see what is supposed to be so different about it.
The mascara goes on smooth and the brush is a nice shape to coat my eyelashes without getting black all over my top lid. It's a good mascara to build up and if you've got time 4 or even 5 coats can look good and this gives me the dusty thick look I want sometimes. I always make sure I let it dry completely between every coat though because it clumps up very badly if you leave it even a bit wet.
It isnt very glossy when it's on my eye lashes but I just put some clear mascara over the top and that makes it look loads shinier but it's still not enough of a look for a night out because I like my lashes much thicker then this for night time.
I think this is v. good for the price and it lasts for ages as well. I have had this tube for about 4 months and I'm just coming to the end of it now so I think that is very good because I use it 4 days a week at least and sometimes go proper OTT with how much I use.!
Any regular readers of my dooyoo reviews will be aware by now that I work part-time as an Avon representative when my poor health allows. This means that I have access to a lot of great offers and new products that are available from Avon.
The downside to being a representative for me though, is that I have such an addiction to Avon products (I always did, even before I worked as a rep) that I find it hard to make any sort of decent income from my earnings, as all of my commission usually goes on toiletries and cosmetics that I have opted to purchase for myself.
However, as my friend pointed out, at least I am getting most (or some) of them for free, by using my commission as payment for my order!
Anyway, whilst perusing the Avon brochure recently, I noticed that the 'Color Trend' make up range in the book had an offer on. Whilst I am on the subject, I will point out that the Avon Color Trend range is one of Avon's ranges that seems to do really good offers a lot of the time. So, if like me you are a fan of these products, I would suggest that you use these times to stock up on your favourite items from the range as you can really make some huge savings!
The offer on the Color trend range at this point in time was that every product in the range was available to buy at the purse-friendly sum of £2.50. When you consider that some products in this range cost upwards of £4, you will appreciate what a good 'buying opportunity' this was.
The 'Plump out' mascara in the Color Trend range was one that I had not tried before. This surprised me as I am a huge fan of mascara in general, and wear it most days. As the normal brochure price of the mascara would have been £4.25, I took advantage of the offer and opted to buy myself one, in the colour 'Black'.
In case it is of interest to any readers of this review, this product is also available to buy in the colour 'Brown/Black'.
When the mascara arrived, I was quite impressed with the basic but pleasant-looking packaging. Mostly black in design, I noted that the mascara was on a par in terms of size with other mascaras that I use regularly.
The first trial was the next day or so when I was putting my 'face on'. I remembered about the Color Trend mascara and opted to use that one in place of my usual mascara to give it a trial.
The brush was pretty much bog-standard in terms of coverage and shape/size. The mascara was not overly-scented though, which I find can be a bit of a problem with cheaper mascaras in general.
The liquid itself looked to be quite glossy and was indeed very black, as I would have expected it to be. The mascara wand appeared to be well covered by the mascara and with these general observations complete, it was time to dab it onto my lashes and see what the outcome was!!
I was quite impressed!
The mascara had coated my eyelashes adequately enough so that I did not feel that I needed to apply a second coat. This wouldn't apply if I was going on a night out though, in which case I would be wanting a more 'noticeable' effect to my eyes. I would have probably needed AT LEAST three coats of the Color Trend mascara to achieve that effect, and therefore I would say that this mascara is probably better being put to use for 'everyday wearing' as opposed to clubbing or going out, as it just seems lighter in terms of coverage and colour when compared to other mascaras in my collection.
In terms of the 'Plump out' in the name of this product I personally am at a bit of a loss as to what these claims are. There is nothing on the packaging for the product - or indeed in the Avon brochure itself - to suggest to me what this product is meant to achieve.
This makes me wonder if perhaps then it is just a name for the product and has nothing whatsoever to do with the effects to be gained from using the mascara. If that IS indeed the case, then I would say that I am not wholeheartedly disappointed. Yep, that's right dear dooyooers (you guessed it) - this didn't 'plump out' anything. Nada. Zilch.
Overall, I found that the mascara offered fairly good coverage and reasonable (though not great) length to my lashes. That said though, I am at the envy of my sister (who is very fair with blue eyes) because of my very dark and very long eyelashes. Because of my colouring, I tend to find that I need to use less mascara than any of my friends or indeed my lovely big sis.
I would recommend it, but not because of the 'plumping out' properties to this product. If you are looking though for an everyday mascara, that is basic but reasonable, then this might be for you.
I would probably be more disappointed if I had paid full price for it, but for a couple of quid I am fairly happy with the results I got from using the mascara. I would award it three stars, and would probably buy it again. Only if it was on offer though!
All products from the Color Trend range are available to buy from avonshop.co.uk, or through your local Avon representative
A three-star mascara!
I bought this Mascara a while ago. I didn't set out to buy it invidivually, but this Avon range was running a 3 for £5 on a good selection of items. So I decided to try this, as I wear Mascara every day, and who knows it may have turned out to be a winner.
This Mascara is part of the Avon ColourTrend range. Although it doesn't say so, I think this range is more aimed at teenagers, as the prices are cheaper than other things in the book, the packaging looks a bit cheaper and plastic-y, and some of the items are in loud bright colours. The normal price for this is £4.25, so it isn't that cheap considering what you can pick up down the high street, but it worked out under £1.70 as part of the offer.
You can only get this in 2 colours which are Black, and Brown/Black. I would say the Brown/Black is quite a deep brown, but not much Black in it.
The packaging is quite basic. It is quite a fat tube, and just the normal lenght of a Mascara. It has the ColourTrend logo on it, which is blue squares and it has the product name up the tube.
The wand is quite a fat wand and I feel this coats your eyelashes well. Although it says it is meant to plump out your lashes, I didn't find this had made any difference. I have very fine eyelashes anyway, so not a great set was made from this. The colour was a deep black and I didn't have to re-apply this. I may be imagining it, but I felt that my lashes curled up ever so slightly at the ends, but again not a huge amount. The Mascara is really wet when it goes on, but it seems to dry quick enough just incase you want to re-apply without clumping.
I would buy this again as long as the price was right. I wouldn't pay full price. It done a good job, but where there is other Mascaras on offer at Avon, then it wouldn't be worth paying more for this one!
Being a teenager with no job, I struggle to find good make up products for cheap prices. On receiving an Avon brochure, I found the Colortrend range. Cheap and affordable medium quality make up products. I purchased this mascara as it was on offer for £2 I believe.
The packaging is basic. The usual tube with a normal brush. The consistancy is quite wet so you need to be careful when applying incase you catch your lid. The smell is the normal horrible mascara smell haha.
Okay so this is the plump out mascara, so it's going to give you volume right? Wrong. My lashes are never full of volume, they're long but when it comes to being thick and luscious, i struggle. After applying this, I won't lie, my lashes did look nice. They lengthened, darkened, curled slightly and really opened my eyes up. My lashes in terms of volume were exactly the same as they were with any other volume. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't disappointed. I don't particularly look for volume when choosing a mascara to purchase but if you're told you're going to get volume, you expect it.
It doesn't clump. I only apply one coat of any mascara so perhaps if you're a three/four coats girl, you're going to be getting some clumps as I have noticed with applying once if I try too much, my lashes start clumping.
It's a basic mascara really. The price pretty much tells you it's going to be basic before you buy it. If your lashes are long and you're just wanting to give a little umf then it's a good cheap buy. If you're genuinely looking for something to enhance the volume of your lashes then you're going to be really disappointed when buying this mascara.
Dual bristles for dual volume /
