Advantages: Not too sticky, Lips look really good, Avon regularly do offers
Disadvantages: Can only purchase from Avon, Colours get discontinued after a while
If there is one beauty must have item that should be in everyone's make up bag its lip-gloss. It can create a nice daytime look that's less heavy looking than lipstick and can glam up your lips big style for the evening!!
I personally have a difficult time living with lip gloss as my hair is long and I can't stand it when I go outside and my hair is constantly sticking to my lips!! Then I have to peel it off my lips taking off half of what I put on and a mass of sticky hair! It was my mission to find one that looked gorgeous, felt nice on my lips and wasn't too sticky. When I eventually found it (after numerous different brands I can tell you!) I decided that Avon Glazewear was one of the best in my opinion.
Avon Glazewear Lipgloss is a lipgloss/liquid lip colour that comes in a variety of shades. Currently (Campaign 8 2005) they are:
Clear
Tickled Pink
Brown Sugar
Darling Pink
Delish
Crimson
Berry Lavish
Gold Digger
My favourite colour for everyday wear is currently Dazzling Lilac, which is more of a pink than a lilac in my eyes, with shimmery particles in it. Unfortunately they have discontinued the colour but it may come back in the future you never know.
The packaging is a smart slim see through tube which has a blue lid and is a chunky sort of shape although Avon tend to change their packaging from time to time. Previous tubes I have had have come in slim square tubes which were very smart looking and I preferred to the current style.
To use it all you need to do is run the sponge applicator that comes in the lid over your lips. I like to pump it once or twice to get a lot of product onto the sponge. I love the smell of this product; it's like a toffee/candyfloss smell although you can't taste it. With my current colour of choice it leaves a glossy pink shimmer over my lips and gives my lips a 'full' pouty look. I wouldn't say it was a super high gloss effect, but glossy enough to be noticeably a lipgloss not just a lipstick. I don't really think a high gloss product would be suitable for me to wear to work anyway. Unfortunately with this product the staying power isn't fantastic and although it will last a couple of hours it will need reapplying after eating etc. I find most lipglosses tend to be this way though, they don't seem to be designed to last long.
The current price of this lipgloss is £3.50 which is an offer price in the current catalogue, usual price is £5.00. I think that it is a reasonable price for the product as a tube lasts a long time and looks really nice. Although I have seen cheaper glosses, they tend to be sticky in my experience which I hate. I've also seen glosses go for a lot more than that so Avon Glazewear is a good intermediately priced product. It is only available in Avon catalogues or the Avon website www.uk.avon.com. If you order from an Avon rep, delivery is free but you have to pay for delivery from the website so it's worth seeing if anyone you know is a rep. If you live in the Swansea area and don't know a rep leave a message in my guestbook and I would be more than happy to bring a catalogue to you.
Suitability - I think this product is suitable for people of most ages. There are many different colours so you can find one that is suitable for you. Or, perhaps if you want to add a new look to your current favourite lipstick order a clear one and put over the top of your lipstick. Then you get the colour of your lipstick with a nice glossy effect!!!
Overall I love this product - it leaves your lips looking gorgeous and there is a nice range of colours. The clear is good for wearing both on its own and on top of normal lipsticks and the colours are nice to wear both day and evening. It is also definitely worth keeping your eyes open as new colours come and go all the time.
