~Avon Glimmerstick~

Glimmerstick is a range of eye liners available from beauty company Avon. There are currently 5 shades available - Cosmic Brown, Starry Night Blue, Saturn Grey, Majestic Plum and Blackest Black.

Glimmerstick eye liners are presented in the form of a retractable pencil so they do not need to be sharpened. The pencil is black in colour and has minimal information on it. Avon claim that this eye liner is waterproof and will provide up to 12 hours of colour. It is recommended that you discard a used eye liner after 6 months.

~My Thoughts~

Whilst I favour No7 eye liners, I have always liked using Glimmerstick eye liner. I have been purchasing this eye liner on and off since I was a teenager and have always found the quality to be excellent. I have recently disposed of my Glimmerstick (I stick with the 6 month rule) and will need to order another one. I tend to buy when on offer but even at full price, this eye liner is most definitely worth the cost.

The casing of a Glimmerstick is long and thin - it is easy to grip whilst applying. It is very easy to twist the casing to released some more eye liner. I always purchase Blackest Black - the shade options are very safe. The texture of Glimmerstick is fantastic. It is ultra creamy and simply glides along my waterline without dragging. I like that this eye liner can be used to create different looks. I am a fan of a thick, noticeable line of colour and Glimmerstick is great at creating this effect. A thinner line can also be created by angling the eye liner slightly. Perfect to use for day or night time use.

I only need to sweep over my waterline once for a bold colour. Blackest Black certainly lives up to its shade name and is one of the darkest eye liners I have used. It frames my eyes perfectly and looks good with any colour of eyeshadow and some black mascara. The creamy texture of this eye liner also allows for neat little flicks at the corners of my eyes. This eye liner can also be smudged slightly for a more smokey effect. This eye liner, despite creating a thick line of colour, doesn't feel heavy on my waterline. It is very gentle and I have never experienced any irritation from using this eye liner.

Glimmerstick does last well and the waterproof claim is very much true. The bold colour stays put through the day and only starts to fade slightly after 7 or 8 hours. I find it easy to remove with a wipe or make up remover.

~Conclusion~

My Glimmerstick lasted well. The benefits of having a twist action pencil as opposed to a pencil that needs sharpened are that there is no mess from sharpening and you have a constant supply of eye liner - the casing doesn't decrease in size either. I have never ran out within the 6 months timescale. Overall this eye liner is definitely a worthwhile purchase.
