I had first noticed the Avon marimekko eye shadow palette in a good few magazines. The magazines had reviewed the eye shadow palette and all had given it very good positive results. The eye shadow looked very professional and it was different to any other palette I had seen. The shadow came together with pretty shapes instead of the normal blocks of different colours. When I noticed that the palette was reduced to £3.50 in the last sale brochure, I thought I would give it a go and see if it lived up to all the reviewed hype.

The description:

The palette comes in a black box with a picture of different coloured flowers on the front. It looks very professional and also a bit designer. All of the instructions and information can be found on the back of the box. In the box you can find the eye shadow palette. The palette is square shaped and it has a clear plastic lift up lid. You can see the eye shadow design through the lid, which consists of different coloured eye shadow flowers. The flowers are all different sizes and again looked very professional.


The product:

So far I was very impressed with the design of the palette and already I was confident in giving this a go. The palette I decided to choose was the poppy bouquet variety. I liked the look of the colours as they gave a good variety of blue and purple. When I opened the palette, I wasn't disappointed. In the past I have ordered items from Avon and when they have arrived the colours have been totally different than the ones shown in the brochures, this one was practically exact and the palette contained smooth shimmering colours of lilac, mint, light shimmering blue and a darker blue /green. Unfortunately you don't actually get an applicator with this shadow so one of your own will be needed. The shadow is designed to be used together to create a multidimensional effect to the eye area. The colours can also be used alone. The shadow is very fine and applies extremely well with no lose dust sprinkling every where like some shadows. The colours are vibrant and shimmery and do last all day, so no need to keep re-applying.

The cost:

The good thing about Avon is that you often find products at reduced prices, as I did with this one. The usual price for this is £8.00. This does seem quite steep but you are getting 4 colours in one handy palette so in the long run it will definitely work out cheaper.

Overall:

I think this palette is a great idea. I love the design and the colours and the whole palette has a very expensive designer look about it. A lot of my friends have commented on how unusual the palette is and they all will be ordering one for themselves. I would definitely recommend this product.
