Advantages: none
Disadvantages: everything! over priced and DOES NOT WORK
From the ages of 18-20 I went through a consistent phase of only wearing acrylic fake nails. Hey, what can I say I was young, child-free and had nothing better to do with my money lol. I then had them sporadically since but using them for a long duration made my nails really brittle and weak and although I don't bite them I wanted a remedy that would help my nails get better!
The nail polish comes in a glass square bottle that is transparent with a white handle which when unscrewed the brush is attached. The polish says nothing except 24k carat polish which I can only assume is referring to the quantity of gold or something? This I just don't understand. As a selling point, the strengthener is advertised to "help make nails feel stronger and helps to hide nail ridges, making nails look smoother". Hmmph!
It is a 12ml quantity so is a bit bigger than my other nail polishes but at £5 it seems over the top but I thought it would be worth it. The polish itself is more of a thin, clear polish with hints of glitter inside it which make it look to me more dark yellow than gold and glam (like in the brochure and the picture above) but really it looks nicer than it actually is in terms of performance!
It's easy to apply but one thing I notice is that it is a lot runnier than I expected. Being a purported "nail strengthener" I expected it to be quite a thick and strong nail hardener but it felt more like a cheap 99p clear polish more than anything. I applied like 3 coats just to try and make it seem worthwhile but this did not suffice. Less than 24 hours later and this had started to chip off, particularly round the tips where I sit typing for rather a long time. Great! It looks decent when on the nails, my nails are reasonably shiny but really that's about it. It certainly did not make my nails any stronger in the slightest and it doesn't even last long enough to make a difference anyway. I bought this absolutely ages ago and did give it numerous goes and opportunity in the hope I was being pessimistic but I really can only say one word - AVOID.
Overall this is a big disappointment and I think Avon have a cheek to be selling it for five quid! My advice is get Sally Hansen or something, because this doesn't work at all for me!
Summary: Avon have a cheek to ask for 5 quid for this!
