Advantages: Easy to apply, Not expensive, Create a very effective, stunning look

Disadvantages: Only available from Avon, application can be a bit messy

Firstly I must apologise for this being in the wrong category, I haven't been able to submit a request for a new product addition so I have placed this here for now.

Nail Sprinkles are a new product that Avon have launched in time for the festive season. They are a form of nail art, but unlike many fancy nail art products that are difficult to apply yourself, Nail Sprinkles are extremely easy to apply.

There are four different variations of Sprinkles, two of which are glittery, a pink and a silver version, and two which are made up with coloured foil cut out shapes, a lilac heart shape and a star shape.

I purchased the silver glitter nail sprinkles, the glitter sprinkles are basically very fine glitter particles which you sprinkle onto wet nail polish or base coat to create a simple but stunning festive look. The Sprinkles are packaged in a small plastic circular container which has a small hole in the centre in order to monitor the flow of the sprinkles, the pot is sealed with a screw top lid.

Nail Sprinkles can be used in many ways and you can be as creative with them as you like. If you are a beginner and just want to get used to applying the sprinkles you can start off by just painting a clear base coat onto your nails and then whilst it is still wet simply shake the nail sprinkles onto it, (they just stick to the tacky base coat), once you have applied the sprinkles simply seal with a clear top coat. The finished look will be simple but effective and a pleasant change from nail varnish alone.

As a huge fan of lilac I decided to paint my nails with my favourite metallic lilac nail polish, when it was dry I applied a small amount of base coat to the tips of my nails, (in the same way you create the tips of a French manicure), I then sprinkled the silver glittery particles onto my nails to create a French style manicure with a difference. The result is both unusual and eye catching.

You can be as cre
ative as you like with the nail sprinkles, if you have a steady hand you could paint a simple swirly pattern onto your nails or perhaps a star, if you purchase more than one pot you could attach a lilac heart to your nail and then cover the tips with silver glitter, the choices are endless - basically you can apply the sprinkles to any part of your nail that remains tacky with undried polish or top/base coat.

Whilst the sprinkles are easy to apply I would warn you that the glitter particles do tend to get everywhere, I applied them over the bathroom sink, however, when you shake them onto the nail you do tend to shake out more than you need and therefore expect the sink and everywhere else to get covered too. If you are sensible, (unlike me), you could put a sheet card underneath your hands and then you can funnel the leftover glitter back into the pot, otherwise there is quite a lot of waste. Where I had excess glitter particles I blew then off, I wouldn't advise this as they tend to go everywhere, I had them on the carpet, up my arms and even on my face.

One pot of nail sprinkles contained enough glitter for me to adequately cover each nail tip on both my hands. I do still have some glitter left and if I had been more sensible and funneled back in the excess I am sure that the pot would have lasted for at least two applications.

I applied the nail sprinkles to my nails on Sunday morning and they still look as effective as they did when I applied them - they have not chipped or peeled off at all.

Each pot of nail sprinkles at costs £2.00.

The only negative thing I would say about the nail sprinkles is that it does take a little bit of practice to apply the clear top coat neatly to the tips of your nails as you cannot see it very well, however, despite the fact that I have painted a bit too deeply in places and have more glitter on some nails than on others I have still had lots of compliments and the mist
akes aren't really badly obvious.

Any little girl who finds a pot of nail sprinkles in her stocking is sure to be delighted - and if you are a big kid like me and like anything glittery or a bit unusual you are sure to like these too.

As nail sprinkles are an Avon product they are not available on the High Street, however if you do not have an Avon representative call on you then you can order Avon Products on line by visiting www.avon.uk.com.

Thank you for reading.

Julie

I like the sound of this but my nails aren't long enough at the moment to try this. Excellent op and I loved the title too. I've nominated it ;O) Nicola
