Avon Nailwear Nail Enamel
Advantages: Good colour, strength and easy to apply
Disadvantages: Drying time, availability
I received this Avon Nailwear polish as a part of a Christmas gift the year before last and stored it away without even trying it until I rediscovered it again a few months ago!
This nail varnish is made by Avon which is a wholly online and brochure based retailer that has been established since 1932, I think my first knowledge of them was watching Edward Scissorhands! The nail varnish comes in a curved, solid glass bottle, it is oval shaped and quite heavy to hold. The lid is a thick black shiny plastic, which follows the curvilinear shape of the base. The lid screws on and off to seal. On opening the bottle there is the typical nail varnish brush inside, this is nearly the length of the bottle so it is easy to reach the polish inside.
The brush itself has really long and quite thick bristles, they are slightly spread and flat shaped for easy varnish application. This is great for applying a fast coat to your nails as only two or three strokes covers the majority of my nails surface.I have quite long nails and the size of the brush and consistency of the varnish means that it picks up loads of polish, quite often too much so I have to remove some back into the bottle which is something to look out for. It's consistency means that it is quite hard to control where it goes, i.e. onto and over the edges of my nails, though I find I do this with most nail varnishes.
The colour I have is a lovely summer baby pink and it goes on just as you would think from looking at the bottle. When I apply the first coat it is quite patchy and uneven, so a second coat is a must with this polish. The first coat dries in about 5 to 10 minutes, then the second coat can be applied. This totally covers any odd patches and give my nails a really solid and acrylic appearance, which looks lovely. The second coat takes quite a while to dry, I give it at least half an hour before I do anything at all involving my hands!
I am most impressed with the length of time this polish takes to come off or chip! My nails tend to go a day or two before they start to look tied and messy, but this polish stays great looking for at least 3 - 4 days, obviously you can get the odd chip but it is noticeably stronger than my other nail polishes.
This is a 12ml Bottle and retails at £6, but they are often on offer on Avon's website. I will definitely be buying more of these, I really didn't think I would be this impressed with it :)
Summary: Great polish from Avon
