Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nail Enamel
Advantages: Durable, easy to apply, lots of shades, cheap if bought on offer.
Disadvantages: Expensive at full price, a little thick, brush is a little small.
As I have explained on all of my other Avon reviews, my mum was a bit obsessed with them for a while and in her buyings she got me 4 various colours of this, 'Avon Nailwear Pro Nail Enamel'.
*~* Cost and Availability *~*
These originally are £6 each but everytime I have seen them they are either reduced or on offer. I have seen them as low as £2 a bottle and this is what my mum paid for them. At £6 I feel these are too expensive, I also feel that a price like this for an Avon nail polish is a little excessive, especially when you buy branded products for this price or less.
These are available from either online, although I don't recommend this as it does mean you have to pay a £3.99 delivery charge which if you are only buying one or two things makes it really not worth it. However there is an alternative option for buying these and that is through a representative of the company. There are people who randomly pop a brochure through your door. Otherwise you can find a rep from their website and get in contact and they can drop a book off for you. This means you don't have a fee to pay for delivery. Bonus.
*~* Packaging *~*
The polish comes in a medium black box with white writing that details there is a nailpolish inside and some ingredients on the back. On opening the box you are presented with a largish sort of bottle, well for a varnish anyway, 12mls are included in the bottle which I feel is pretty good as it means you have quite a lot and it's not going to run out after just a few applications. It is retangular in shape.
The bottle is clear with a tall black top, that unscrews. Attached to the end is a long plastic stick with a brush that is pretty small in comparison to other varnishes I've tried. It is transparent in colour which allows the bold, rich and bright colours of the polishes to shine through. I would say that is is mediocre looking, neither too bland yet neither anything amazing about the look of this.
*~* The Liquid Inside *~*
Inside the bottle I was presented with a pretty thick, very boldly coloured liquid, it could even be described as a little gloopy which I have to say I was not a huge fan of. It has a rather strong scent to it which I expected and it also trasfers onto the nails and stays there for quite a while. There are 17 colours available online, many are for those who like to stand out from the crowd but there are a couple that are very gentle and blander so a little something for everyone.
*~* Application *~*
Before I started doing my nails regularly I tended to apply the colour straight onto my nails. After a couple of times with this particular one I found that he very dark colour (The one shown in the picture above) made my nails very dull and slightly tinged so I started wearing a base coat that eliminated this problem. To apply I basically would recommend an undercoat of some sort and then this polish which you carefully apply in strokes, I found around 4 was enough to cover my nail fully. One coat would be enough but as I wanted them to be bold I applied 2 and then an additional top coat to try and preserve my nails for as long as possible. I found it took a little longer than other polishes to dry due to the thickness of the liquid, not overly more so but definately enough for it to be a hinderance.
*~* Wear And Tear *~*
With never a top nor bottom coat I found the polish chipped within a couple of hours and was not durable in the slightest. However with a couple of added adjustments I found that this was a little more durable than others. It certainly lasted a couple of days with barely any problems at all. Being a mum and a student this is pretty good I think. I don't particularly look for durability as I tend to change my colour every few days but I have to say this is definately a positive in the fact that it lasts and I'm not pressured to subject myself to another nail session if I don't fancy it.
*~* My Opinion *~*
In my opinion I quite like this brand, it is durable, easy to apply, lots of choice of shades, cheap enough if you can buy it on offer and all round a quite good nailcolour. I would recommend this at £2 or £3 but I wouldn't say I would be happy to buy this a full price or even at anymore that £3 a bottle. 4 stars from me.
Summary: Overall a good nail polish that could be better with a few adjustments.
