Advantages: Shiny, easy to use, good brush for applying

Disadvantages: Too dear, pale colours look patchy

I love the look of perfectly painted nails although I admit I don't do my own very often as it is such a hassle but when I am painting them I like the wide choice so I do quite often purchase nail varnishes, the pretty colours always draw me in.

Since being an Avon rep I admit I am quite a fan of their products and look forward to their brochure coming through my door. Recently these nail varnishes were on offer at £3 for each bottle, they are usually £6 a bottle so I decided to buy a couple whilst they were half price as I think at £6 a bottle they are too expensive.

In this range there are loads of different colours ranging from pale pink to vibrant purple and bright red to deep plum, there are 15 different shades in all which gives you a wide choice and there is a colour suitable for all wear. Each nail varnish comes in a small glass bottle which has squared edges and holds 12ml of product. The lid is a screw top and holds inside the brush to paint your nails as with all nail varnishes I have used, the brush is wider than it is thick and gives a great line when painting your nails.

The nail varnish is not at all gloopy and the brush doesn't pick up too much product at once meaning it is very easy to paint your nails with this product. The more vibrant colours only need one coat although I apply two but the paler colours do need a fair few coats and do end up looking patchy unless you are a very good artist so I wouldn't recommend the really pale colours. I love the shine this product holds and this is apparently because it contains diamond dust, the nail varnish also contains acrylic which is great for providing strength for your nails.

I have found that I prefer the really deep, vibrant shades in this range such purple and blue, I like that this nail varnish is neat to apply and if you do get it on your skin it doesn't stain which I have often found deeper colours do making the finish look messy. I like the shine that these nail varnishes have and you really don't need to apply a top coat for the added shine although I still do as my nails chip really easily. Avon claim that a study found that the high gloss shine lasted 10 days, I have never been able to wear this product for the full 10 days to be able to test this as I find it chips quite easily which lets it down. I would recommend these nail varnishes for a salon looking finish.

Summary: Go for the deeper shades
