Advantages: Great value, innovative, fun and gives fantastic results!
Disadvantages: Sometimes it puts too much mascara on the very end of the wand
I have only recently started using Avon products but this product was one that I regretted ordering until it arrived and I had tried it.
<< THE PACKAGING >>
It comes in a sleek black tube with a purple dial at the bottom that can be adjusted. It says AVON Spectra Lash Mascara along it.
<< WHY I AM SO IMPRESSED BY THIS MASCARA >>
I was extremely impressed by this mascara. I bought it due to the very clever advertisement that showed how three different looks can be created by this one mascara.
At the bottom of the mascara is a purple swivel dial. You can put it to either one, two or three. One gives the most natural look, followed by two with a slightly fuller look and three which gives ultimate definition, length, volume and thickening. The advertisement stated that it can make your lashes up to 8 times more volumised. But I have quite long eye lashes anyway so I did not see 8 times my volume but to be more realistic around 4 times. I would say that 'dial number one' refers to twice the volume, 'dial number two' three times the volume and 'dial number three,' four times the volume. Which I still think is very impressive.
What is so great about this dial which seems to work very well (I assume by more product going onto the brush as the dial increases) that I have a day time, work and night time look. At home I use dial one, at work dial two and on a night out dial three.
I love this mascara not just because of the gimmicky dial (but that is why I bought it in the first place) but also because of the brush. It is a moderate to large brush but the bundles of bristles are just perfectly spaced so as not to clump mascara in the eye lashes and it allows fantastic separation of the eye lashes.
I have tried a good few mascaras including a few Clinique mascaras, the Estee Lauder vibrating mascara as well as high street brand mascaras like Rimmel. My favourite mascara has always been one from Mac but that gives a very full look so I have always used another mascara for the day time so as it is a little more natural. As I previously said my eye lashes are luckily quite long so I do not need loads of mascara or to go over my lashes with several coats to get a lot of volume. Therefore, this Spectra Lash Mascara from Avon gives me my natural Clinique mascara and my very volumising night time mascara from Mac in one. So it means I use only one mascara and save money.
Another plus point to this mascara is that it does not flake or fall under the eyes during the day or during application. It is very easy to take off with eye makeup remover though with barely any rubbing.
<< THE ONLY DOWNSIDE >>
The only possible downside to the mascara which really does not bother me anyway and will not affect my rating of this mascara is that the very end of the mascara can sometimes have a lot of mascara on when you pull the wand out of the tube. So I have to just wipe the end off on the end of the tube so as not to lose lots of the mascara.
<< PRICE >>
This mascara costs £10.00 but more often than not it is half price or at some other discounted price. It comes in brown/black and black. I went for black just because it shows up a lot better on my lashes.
<< OVERALL >>
A fun yet effective mascara which is unique from any other mascara I have tried. I think it is a lovely present for somebody, instead of your bog standard mascara and when it is half price it is exceptionally good value.
Summary: A fantastic innovative mascara worth every penny!
