I recently found this Avon Super Full mascara among my make-up, still sealed. I have a few mascaras that I haven't got around to using. I don't remember ordering it so I think it must have been received as part of a gift set.
~ Appearance ~
It comes in a shiny black plastic tube with 'Avon super FULL' on the side in metallic silver lettering. The side of the tube also tells me that this contains 7ml of mascara. Just below the lid is a silver line that goes right round the tube.
The tube is not perfectly cylindrical. The tube tapers towards the bottom.
~ Price and availability ~
This mascara is available in black, brown or blue and its usual retail price is £7.00 from Avon. The mascara is not available on the Avon website so I think this mascara has been discontinued, but it is still available to buy on eBay brand new for £3.50 including postage.
~ Use ~
The lid twists off easily to reveal the brush. The brush is bent at the end to help aid application. The first thing I noticed about the brush was how short the bristles are. They look tiny, but there are a lot of them. The bristles look like they are made of a rubbery like material and they spring back into place easily when you move them.
The bent brush is really handy for application, moreso than I expected. It makes the mascara very easy to apply.
The mascara is black and it coats my lashes nicely and evenly and I find it separates my lashes. It does not lengthen the appearance of my lashes, but the colour and how well separated my lashes are helps them to stand out.
The mascara does look nice, but I don't feel that there is anything special about this product and I would tend to wear it during the day for work rather than when I am going out. I am happy with the results and it is perfect as a day time mascara.
I have found it to be very long lasting and it has outlasted a 12 hour day, looking like it still had more hours in it.
It does not smudge or rub off my lashes, but I have found it easy to remove with eye make-up remover.
I would buy this mascara again and I would recommend it as an every day mascara.
AVON SUPER FULL MASCARA
This is a mascara from Avon that is supposed to give you fuller looking lashes with no clumps.
I ordered this expecting it to be quite good but was disappointed. Although I really like Avon and I buy a lot of their make up, one thing they do that I'm not too fussed about has always been the mascaras.
I have this mascara in the shade Brown/Black. There are three shades altogether, and the other two shades you can buy this in are:
The normal price for this mascara is £8 which I think is quite expensive for what it is. I also have the Colortrend mascara from Avon which is only normally £4.25 (currently only £2.15) and in my opinion is much better than the Super Full mascara.
You can order this from your Avon representative or if you haven't got one then you could buy this online at the Avon website
*DOES IT LIVE UP TO ITS CLAIMS?*
I have to be honest, no. I was really disappointed when I used this as I found my the wand wasn't very good, the formula itself is quite thin and there doens't seem to be that much of it in the bottle so if you used this every day I think you would run out quite quickly.
I put some of this on this morning as I knew I'd be writing this review (I'm addicted to dooyoo!) and right now my eyelashes just look thin and you can hardly tell I'm wearing any mascara. I definitely wouldn't descrive them as being 'fuller looking eyelashes'.
So, it doens't live up to its claims of making your lashes look fuller. But it also claims to provide a 'clump free application'. When I put this on I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find there were no clumps and my eyelashes didn't stick together. So I'll give this some credit for that.
If you want very separated lashes, though, you won't get them with this. The wand bristles aren't close together enough to separate all my lashes and some of them are stuck together. But on the other hand it has separated some of my lashes and I haven't got spider lashes at least.
*DO I RECOMMEND THIS?*
I don't think I would recommend this, really. It's normally £8 which seems expensive when it doesn't even work that well. If you want longer, fuller lashes then this won't do what you want it to. It will give you clump free, natural lashes but as there doesn't even seem to be that much in the bottle I can't see why any one would want to buy this.
There are so much better mascaras out there, some cheaper than this, so no, I don't recommend it. I definitely won't buy this again and I feel like I have wasted my money on it in the first place.
I have really long, fine eyelashes which often stick together when applying mascara and I had real trouble finding a shop brought product which volumised an seperated my lashes. For me Avon's super full mascara was a god send as it did both these things.
Pros - It has a nice diagional shaped brush making it easy to get into the courners of your eyes, the brush is also designed a bit like a comb so eyelashes are seperated easily, the liquid consistancy is also very good so the mascara isn't pouring of the wand/brusch etc...
Also when I first brought the product about 10 months ago I was having problems with it clumping and flaking once applied to my lashes, however, Avon seems to have resolved this as the last few time i've brought it these problems haven't occured. The mascara can also be brought cheaper than most high street products if you wait for Avon's deals (which come around often) and buy a couple at a time.
Cons - The mascara doesn't give an immediate high impact, high volumising result, you have to sweep the wand across your eyelashes a couple of times for this to happen, however I like it this way as it gives an amount of control over the look I want (whether going to a party or shopping etc...). The mascara also only comes in a tube contaning 7ml of the product which is slightly less then what alot of high street brands are offering.
I have decided to try Avon's super full mascara as it was on promotion and I'm always looking for the most suitable mascara for my sensitive eyes.
The container is smart and expensive looking. It's pure black with easy to read silver writing. The ingredients were on the plastic wrapper which surrounded the mascara when it was purchased. I like the idea of the ingredients being on the wrapper because it makes the barrel look less messy.
The mascara itself-
It comes in three colours - navy, black and brown/black. I am using the black shade and have found it is a true black, quite intense colour. It is advertised as making your lashes five times fuller. I'm not sure whether this is true but I have found it excellent. Since I started using it I have not experienced my eyelashes sticking together at all. I have found this mascara coats each individual lash giving it strikingly intense colour which is brilliant. Having watched a soppy movie the other night I found my mascara did not run which I was very happy about. Even walking in the rain last week did not seem to effect it. When it comes to removing the mascara it's a bit of a different story. It's not the easiest mascara I have used to take off. I find I really have to rub quite hard to remove it. It does come off eventually though.
My philosophy when it comes to Avon is never pay full price. I bought this on promotion a few months ago and have just looked through the latest brochure to find it on promotion again. The recommended price for this mascara is £8 which compared to some hign street stores is not that unreasonable. They have a 90 day money back guarantee which means if you don't like it you can return it and not lose out. So why not give it a try.
I was lucky enough to be given this by my sister in law with some other treats (thank you!)
It retails at around £7 (although check for special offers) and is available from www.avon.co.uk or your local rep. If you are buying online I would recommend going through a cash back site as you can get 8 - 15% cash back on your purchase.
Packaging - mine came from New Zealand so is actually in a silver tube rather than the black one pictured but it is the same mascara. The tube is normal mascara sized and comes with a twist off top which stops there being mascara explosions in your makeup bag!
Avon claim that the wand design (which is very different to other mascaras that I have used in the past)is revolutionary as it is impossible to get clumpy mascara!
The wand is made of a rubber like material instead of bristles as normal and there are rubber spikes standing out at right angles to the wand. This means that there can never be too much mascara on the wand and in particular you can't get a glob of mascara stuck between two bristles, causing a clump.
Is it animal friendly?
All Avon products are meant to be not tested on animals so I believe that this is an ethical product.
What does it promise?
It promises that you will be fuller looking eyelashes - both thick and healthy looking and that the mascara will never clump.
Does it deliver?
Well as you would with any mascara check the brush to make sure that there is not too much on the wand (and the wand does work - there never seems to be too much) and apply to your top and bottom lashes.
I would normally wear one or two coats of mascara in the day time (and perhaps three for a more dramatic effect for evening wear). Therefore I have based my assessment of whether it works on two coats of mascara.
And the results are in - this is officially a flop - The innovative wand may stop clumping but it hardly gets any product on the eyelashes at all. With one coat you can barely spot a difference and with two it looks like you have put on one coat of really thin mascara. I find that I have to put back the wand into the tube between doing the top and bottom lashes and between eyes - something I never normally do.
I did decide to keep going until I could really see my eyelashes looking full and coloured - I needed 6 coats which is utterly ridiculous. And even then they did not look "super full" just average!
This is available in black, a dark brown and I think in some seasonal colours including a navy.
I may not like this product much but I will admit it is very easy to take off - just use make up remover and hold it over the eye lashes and away it comes. It is not a waterproof mascara so don't wear in a heavy rain storm!
The wand design is good in that it does stop clumping BUT you have to put on 5 / 6 coats to look like you are wearing any make up - such a waste as it would really not last too long if used that much every day. Plus if you are going out for the evening you will definitely need to reapply as it seems to wear off.
I was very pleased that I didnt pay for this product - there are MUCH better mascaras out there!
I have long but thin lashes so when I saw this Avon Super Full Mascara on the Avon catalogue, I ordered one hoping I'd get full eyelashes. The regular price was £7 but it was offered at £5 that month.
Avon Super Full Mascara comes in a black plastic container which is approximately 13 inches in length. It is vacuum-sealed with a plastic wrapper which has lots of prints on it about the product, ingredients and an Avon brand. With a hard counterclockwise twist of its cap, the plastic wrapper rips off. Some may prefer to keep the partly-torn plastic wrapper as it contains all information about the product but I prefer to tear it all the way. The mascara looks untidy and aged for me if I retain the torn plastic wrapper.
The 2-cm wand is attached to the 8-cm cap. The cap has a twist-to-open and close design just like other mascara containers. The wand's spikes are made of thin plastic fibers which are unevenly attached to the wand. The fibers at the top and bottom are longer than the fibers in the middle creating an inward curve at the center.
Like with other mascaras, the ideal way to use Avon Super Full Mascara is to curve lashes first with eyelash-curler twice. Before applying the mascara, I always see to it that the wand doesn't bring out too much liquid. If it does, I lightly glide the wand through the tip of the bottle opening so the excess liquid goes back down the tube to avoid mess. I apply 2 coats of the mascara on my eyelashes, let them dry a bit then I finish the routine with a metallic lash separator comb for a very clean finish.
EFFECT ON MY LASHES
Avon Super Full Mascara is a good mascara but it's doesn't really provide the 'super full' effect. I got the brown colour for a lighter shade (black is also available). It doesn't dry up easily so I still have time to put on another streak if I have clumps. After putting on the 2nd coat, my thin lashes look fuller, but not super full which I expected the mascara to provide when I ordered it. Perhaps, my lashes will look a lot more fuller when I apply up to 5 coats but I don't want to do that since I don't want to end up looking like a false-lashes wearer in broad daylight. I expect advertisements to be based on the real effect of the normal 2-coat application.
Although a little frustrated on the product, it is still a good mascara for me. It is waterproof and stays on my lashes the whole day without the need of reapplying. It can be washed off easily with my regular facial foam cleanser. The label has a 6M longevity so it can be used in 6 months.
This was one of my first purchases with Avon and I bought it alot of times which says alot for me and mascaras. I love them and as I have blonde eyelashes I wear everyday so like to try out quite a few.
This one I really liked from day one. It did fill out my eyelashes and made them alot longer and gave them more volume which is what I wanted. (and its taken along time to find one that does it all!)
The only downfall for me was it did not seem to last very long. I use about 2 coats on each eye when applying and that does me all day so I was not using anymore then I usually do but it just didnt seem to last. (Mine usually last about 6 weeks this one I was lucky to get 4 out of)
It is very very slimline and a little bit longer then standard mascaras. It goes in at the bottom-maybe why it didnt last me as theres not as much in the bottle! The bristles on the brush are tiny and short-the answer to why you get great lashes! The bristles dont hold alot of mascara on them so you dont end up getting big clumps like bigger brushes do and also the bristles get right into the bottom of your lashes so it seperates them nicely and evenly the end result them looking fuller and longer.
It is quite an expensive mascara I feel for the time it lasts but a great bargain if you can buy on offer or part of a multibuy. I paid £7 when I first bought and then after I always got it on offer for approx £5 but have not been able to find it that cheap since they bought out the Supershock one, so have not bought any for a while but I definetly give it 10/10!
I am not a makeup fanatic - I stick to what I know, but after Maybelline discontinuing the mascara I swear by, I had to look elsewhere.
The Avon Super Full Mascara appealed to me because I like Avon. I also like the idea of super full lashes, I have long eye lashes and sometimes mascaras can do them an injustice in not showing the length. Super full also sounded like it would give them more volume and I would be able to see my long lashes.
The tube itself is about 13 cm in length and is slimmer at the bottom than at the top end that is the screw on lid with the wand attached.
The mascara itself comes packaged in a plastic outer wrapper (as so seems a lot of the Avon products), personally I don't like this. All the information is on the outer wrapper and once you've unwrapped it, it ends up in the bin, or you try and keep it on the tube but it goes all horrid and looks battered. Not something I would want to get out of my handbag in public. It makes it look like you're using mascara that is a decade old.
The only information on the actual mascara tube that you will keep is the name and how much is in it. On the bottom of the tube is the sticker saying the colour. It has a silver band just under where the lid screws on to. I don't know why this is, but it does break up the bland blackness Avon love so much.
The wand is 8 cm in length with the applicator being over 2 cm in length. The applicator on the wand has many fine stubs, and they are relatively short. I was a bit apprehensive about this product once I had seen this, and thought this wouldn't help my long lashes but it has, they now appear to be the length they are, and this mascara does fully extend my lashes to what I want.
The colour I have is black; I don't do other coloured mascaras, not since my purple days at senior school! The black does look greyer on the wand but comes out very black on the lashes; I have lighter eye lashes though so you can always see a colour quite clearly.
On the sticker on the bottom of the tube it says the mascara has a 6 month shelf life.
The mascara isn't clumpy and messy, it is a nice mascara. I think so anyway.
I paid the sale price of £3, reduced from the usual £5.
Would I use it again?
Right now my answer would be yes, it is reasonably priced and seems to work for me. I have had this product for a month and have had no problems with it, I wouldn't say my lashes are super full, although what does super full mean anyway? I like the way it makes my lashes look the length they really are. After reading some other reviews on here I do wonder if this love affair will last. I will keep you updated if anything changes about my opinion on this product.
Having pretty much downsized all my make-up, throwing out old ones, and buying fresh products, and Mascara is one of the weird products when it's difficult to know when to throw out the old Mascara, I believe around 6-12 months is the life span of Mascara, and most of mine was very old or dried up, so I decided to buy another one, and Mascara is an essential make-up product. So with my Auntie buying some stuff off Avon, I thought I'd try Avon's Super Full Mascara, as I've never tried the Mascara but did like other Avon products, so I thought it would probably be fairly good, but was I right?
Applying the Mascara, was okay, but was a fair amount of effort, unlike other Mascaras I've tried before. The brush was hard, with tiny plastic spikes or bristles, and the brush was not very flexible at all, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but it wasn't too bad, and I have tried worse Mascaras in the past. The Mascara liquid was very easy to apply though, and went over the whole of my lashes easily, and it didn't go all over my eyes, like the past Mascaras, which can be very messy.
Avon's Super Full Mascara gave my eyelashes a decent cover, but I didn't notice any huge improvement in the length of my lashes, and they were never "Super Full", and I was slightly disappointed with the results, as I've tired some very good Mascaras, which have made much more longer and fuller. But an advantage, for some people, is that the Mascara didn't make my lashes clumpy, I personally like clumpy lashes, but for people who prefer separate and non clumpy eyelashes this is the perfect Mascara for you. But it defiantly isn't the best for making eyelashes longer and much more fuller. Also Avon's Super Full Mascara doesn't need re-applying though out the day, which is another advantage, as you get separate lashes for the whole day and night, and taking off the Mascara is also very easy, just removed with make-up remover or Baby Oil, and it comes off so easy.
-Pricing and Availability-
Avon's Super Full Mascara is priced at around £5-8, and it comes in Black, Brown, and Dark Blue, and is only available at your local Avon person or online.
I sometimes use Avon mascara because my mum buys me them sometimes. The last one she got me was a Super Full Mascara in blackest black because I like the goth look with loads of black eye liner and thick black lashes.
It's rubbish though and she wasted her fiver on it because after using it twice I won't bother again and it'll end up in the bin.
The brush is not very good to use because the lid of the mascara is too thick and the brush is too thin for me to be able to controll it properly. The colour is v. clumpy to apply as well even though Avon say in their book that it is supposed to be clump free and after the second coat I ended up with loads of thick blobs of mascara on my eye lashes that looked rank.
It thickened my eyelashes up a bit but not much and didn't make them look longer like the Maybelline mascara I've got upstairs does. The mascara dries fast and that would be a good thing if it wasn't for the clumps because I needed it to stay damp for a bit so I could try and get some of the clumps out with an eyelash comb or cotton bud.
The colour is ok and was a very deep black with a bit of a wet look to it. It's not the blackest black I've ever used but this could be because I couldn't do more than 2 coats because of all the clumps I kept been left with.
I won't buy this again because its no better than the Avon Colour Trend Plumping mascara and that is only £2.00. The usual price for this one is £8.00 and thats a right rip off because I've already told my mum to give this one back to the Avon lady because it's such a poor mascara that doesn't do what its supposed to at all.
I've mixed feelings about this mascara, although it does do fabulously well on extending the lashes, the actualyy tube of mascara dries ot within a few weeks.I'd say about two months down the line my superfull mascara became thick and gloopy.and no longer seperated and extended the lashes like once before. Some of us know that mascara should not be used beyond three months, but when one only gets two months use out of a mascara, its slightely dissaponting.I've been told this is the case with most avon mascaras, which is such a shame as some of there, mascara 'ideas' are quite brilliant. They were one of the earlier manufacturers using various brush techniques to lenghthen and seperate lashes... it truly is a disappointment.Having said that if you're somebody who changes mascaras rather quickly, then its a pretty much perfect mascara.I remember the first time I used this product and I couldn't stop catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror, the impact was literally 'huge' and there were no nasty clumps or smudges.Had the product lasted longer I would definately give it a 5 star but because of its quick drying out,Its going to get a 3 from me
Needing a new mascara and my Avon representative bringing the new catalogue around and seeing this on offer in it for £5.00 at the time I decided to give it a whirl! It's available to purchase now in black, brown/black and navy blue and is also available in a waterproof option too priced at the usual price of £8.00 and in black and brown colours only at the same price.
7ml long black shiny tube with silver writing on it that tells me it is Avon Super Full Mascara and the size is stated on it. On the bottom there is a small round silver label and on that contact details for Avon are given and the colour is stated. When you first get the product there is a plastic outer wrapper on it you peel off it and on that lots of information in foreign languages is given ad once again I'm told what it is and who it's by etc.
Me Using it....
Well the brush that is in the tube is hard black and spiky and like it's made of plastic bristles that aren't very long at all and are actually rather small and short. To use it is easy enough actually. The brush is rather sturdy and not all that flexible so your in total control of it and all you do of course carefully coat the eyelashes which I found incredibly easy to do so.
The liquid is moist rather that wet and I found I had to really wipe the colour through my lashes to get colour off which means I didn't make many mistakes with it and didn't find it messy to use at all. If you do make any mistakes they are incredibly easy to correct anyway. It's also easy to remove when you want to do that and all it takes is your usual make-up removing routine.
It's ok really. Super full? I think not. It coats my lashes in a fairly glossy black colour (in my chosen option) and did coat and define each individual lash really well. I found it to be a little clumpy (even the first time I used it) and although it defined said lashes and definitely in my opinion lengthened my lashes rather alot it didn't seem to thicken them at all. However I didn't get a spidery look as such, just my eyelashes looked a bit thin really. They felt natural and none irritated my eyes when I wore it all day long and I found it none smudge proof though when I get tired and rub my eyes it does seem to crumble off into lumps though they are easy to remove, just pick them off lol!
All In All....
Not a bad day time type of mascara, it's easy to use and gives ok results but it's nothing special and I've used much better!
Only available and exclusive to Avon.
I don't wear a lot of make up, but the 1 thing I always wear is Mascara. I have fair eyelashes and 1 is a little lighter than the other. Although it isn't a noticible difference I like to have black eyelashes and thought I would try this as it was on offer - I love an offer.
The price of this is normally £8 but I got it when it first came out from Avon a few books ago. At the time you only got this in Black and Brown, but in the new Avon book they have launched Blackest Black and Black Pearl. These are also £8 normal price, but on offer again fro £5, so I will buy another one as they will never go wrong.
Packaging is just normal for this kind of product. Plastic tube with a screw lid and a brush running through the middle of the tube. Normally mascara tubes can be quite slim line, but this one is quite chunky. Small enough to store in your bag or pocket though. The writing is up the side and in silver, so stands out against the black.
I was expecting quite a chunky wand from this, but it is slim, with little brushes and gets into your lashes easily. I find this coats my lashes easily, dries quickly and let you apply another coat without it smudging or flaking off. I often do 2 coats anyway. It tends to seperate my lashes as coating them and the colour is a dark black instead of a washed out one like what i've found with other ones.
This claims to boost your lashes by up to 5x, and i'm not sure of that claim. My lashes are quite fine and I think this adds a bit volume to them, but not a huge difference. I think the difference is the seperating them, as that is where I notice the most difference.
A good Mascara and even better for the money just now
I love it when I receive free gifts with my Avon, it gives you the opportunity to try something new and a lot of the time, I really like the freebies and end up buying them. With my last order, I received a bag full of goodies and over the past week or so I have been trying various bits out to see how they compare to what I normally use.
Within my bag I had the Super Full Mascara. I love mascara, I always have done but there are so many bad products on the market that don't do what they say, and leave your eyelashes look a terrible mess. To start of with I have extremely long eyelashes and with the right product it compliments my eyes a treat and on many occasion I have been accused of having false eyelashes, but they are my own and the envy of some women as I don't have to pay for false eyelashes.
The super full mascara, within the Avon magazine claims to make you eyelashes 5 times fuller than what they already are, which made me look really forward to trying it. Screwing the top from the mascara, and pulling out the wand revealed quite a unique brush inside, different to anything I have ever used before. The brush had very tiny bristles on it, quite a width apart and looked quite strange in my opinion.
Applying the mascara was actually really hard and I gave up in the end and cast it aside as one of those products that I didn't want. It was really hard for it to go on, the bristles were that small and that far apart, even applying over and over again gave no results at all and was really disappointing. The impression that it gave me was when you get to the end of your mascara and it starts to get really hard to apply, however this was a completely new product, sealed and had never been used before.
I wouldn't dream of using this again, its too much like hard work and I will continue to use what I have been using for the past couple of years because it gives me the results that I require.
