With makeup a lot of mine tends to come from Avon. I love more expensive brands like Mac, but rarely find time to go shopping for myself so I find the convenience of Avon very tempting. Mascara is my downfall, and I think I own nearly every version Avon has brought out in the last few years. I am still searching for 'the one' and sadly this is not it. As the name suggests this mascara promises to lengthen your lashes, and make them appear longer. As I have small eye lashes I love anything that can make them seem a little longer. It is standard mascara with a twist off top that carries the wand inside. The wand picks up a fair amount of the product so there is no need to apply more than one coat to your lashes.
It is available in black, brown and blue and I purchased it in black. I usually go for brown mascaras as it suits my skin tone, and hair colour better but brown was unavailable at time of purchase. Although the black is jet black, I found it actually is not too over the top once my full make up is on. The tube the mascara comes in is a good size to hold comfortably, as is the lid of the mascara which doubles as the handle for the wand. It is perfect for holding comfortably, and it is just the large unusual head of the mascara that lets it down. While the head of the brush is rather large the bristles are small, and separated well which I like in mascara. The means if I am careful I can achieve a good look with the mascara, as it both separates them while pulling them at the same time. I have very sensitive eyes and I am happy to report I had no irritation at all with this mascara.
I have small lashes so I like to add a little volume to them. I also like smaller brushes as it makes it so much easier to apply to my lashes without smudging. This brush is not small at all, and for this reason I found it difficult to apply. The brush needs a little getting used to, but once I had made a few attempts I was happy in the way I was applying it. My problem is the consistency is far too thin. The mascara itself is very watery, which results in my lashes being wet for around a minute after I have applied the mascara. I have to try not to blink while it dries or I end up with black splatters all over my eye makeup.
The brush runs through my lashes fairly well, and I can feel it pulling at them to help extend. I do only need one coat as the brush is so large, but because I have to be very careful with it this does not shorten application time. On first look my lashes looked rather good, a little fuller and extended. Once I realised I had to be careful the mascara did not transfer on to my skin I waited patiently for it to dry. Once dried my lashes did look good. They looked fuller and I could really notice the difference. I would not say they extend my lashes any more than other Avon mascara I use, so I'm not sure about the super extend claim. It does add some definition to my lashes and I can see a difference afterwards.
As this mascara is waterproof I found it lasted really well. It does flake a little towards the end of the day, but by this time I am usually ready to take it off anyway. You can notice the difference throughout the day, and it stays put. It is disappointing that the mascara flakes towards the end of the day as I do not like walking round with my eye makeup on my cheeks! You cannot add an extra layer of this mascara to freshen up later in the day. On the few occasions I have tried I found the mascara clumps so badly that I had to completely remove it. This means if you are planning a long day, or a night out it is not one you can build on without ending up with spider leg eyelashes. This mascara is a pain to remove. I have tried many different make up removers without success, and I find it takes three times longer to remove the mascara than it does to apply. This is one of the main reasons this mascara gets used once in a blue moon, as I do like a mascara to stay put but hate the rubbing and tugging it requires to remove it.
I think this mascara would best suit somebody with larger lashes. Mine are small and so the large brush creates problems in applying it. Once I was used to application I did receive better results, but that mixed with it being rather thin in consistency, and the difficulty in removing it make it a no go for me. I think I purchased it for around £5 on special offer with a full retail price of around £10. As always with Avon every other brochure brings price cuts, so if you are desperate to try it I would wait until it is on offer.
I absolutely love this product. I cant imagine finding a mascara better than this that i can wear both day and night.
When I wear this mascara, my blue eyes have received lots of attention and ive even been asked if i have colour contacts in and / or false eyelashes!!! how good is that?!? I have tried most mascaras on the market and this is by far the best out there.
The applicator brush is quite small so it doesnt end up all over your face and you can extra bits of mascara to just the end of your lashes for extra va va voom easily - also small and delicate enough to add to false lashes if you find they need separating out a little.
At the moment the mascara is almost half price (at around £4.50 i think) so im going to stock up and buy some for my friends too for stocking fillers. I cant recommend this enough, its really good quality, it goes on really really easily, clump-free and lasts all day and night although i do have a tendancy to top up on it throughout the day as I am becoming slightly obsessed with having big Minnie Mouse lashes!
It doesnt claim to be waterproof but I have been in a hot tub in it and it didnt smudge at all.
I love it love it love it love it!

Prior to Avon I always used to buy Lancome mascara but in an attempt to save money I've switched to Avon. I bought this mascara as it was on offer with my Avon rep and I thought it was worth a try. I usually buy the SuperCurlacious mascara from Avon which is for fuller more curled lashes, rather than a super lengthening mascara.
Typically the packaging is the Avon slick black style that is easy to get into and to hold when you are applying the mascara. As for the product, I have now been using this a couple of weeks and it seems to really lengthen my lashes to the point where I have to be careful when I first apply it so as not to end up with mascara marks on my eyelid! This mascara gives really good definition to the lashes and I have not had any problems with clumping. The best thing is the brush which is nice and fine to get the little lashes.
I bought this in black and it's currently priced at £8.50 for the 7ml tube. It is also available in a brown/black which I have yet to try out. Although I like the product I will probably continue to work my way through the Avon mascara range as I'm as fairly new customer and also to take advantage of any mascaras on offer.
The mascara is meant to be waterproof and so far I haven't been swimming in it but I haven't had any watery lines despite sometimes needing to fiddle around with my contact lenses once the mascara is on.
Overall this mascara does exactly what it promises to do in the lengthening department and is a good contender to be my regular mascara.
