      another good mascara from Avon!

Avon mascaras are something I have many of and the one I use daily at the moment is the Avon Supershock Max Mascara. - Packaging - Mine is pretty identical to the picture above, coming in a thick turquoise tube which says Avon SuperSHOCK mascara along the side. It is a 10ml tube so is actually rather large but I have no problem with it fitting into my cosmetic purse, despite it's chunky appearance. - Brush - As with most mascaras, the brush is attached to the lid inside and it is more of a plastic brush with small plastic bristles protruding, gathered quite close together. It's quite spiky and not like a thick soft brush which I have found from mascaras in the past. The mascara brush is not fully coated with heaps of mascara so you can actually see all the even bristles perfectly. - Application / Results - The mascara is really easy to apply and for the fully coated look I like on my lashes this brush does the job perfectly giving me a nice daily look, not over the top but a nice fuller look on my lashes. It glides through my lashes from roots to end easily without pulling/tugging on my lashes or leaving blotches of mascara on my eyelids. I feel I can see a definite difference between when I have the mascara on and when my eyes are 'naked' so to speak. The mascara is really long lasting, and whilst it is not advertised as waterproof it doesn't seem to smudge or run and I'm not left with panda eyes when I have the odd sniff or watery eye with this freezing weather! Even with this, it's really easy to remove at the end of the night with some face cleansing wipes or eye makeup remover and a cotton pad. It doesn't irritate my eyes so I think this mascara ticks all my boxes. - Overall - This is a really decent mascara, although the only negative I would say is that I have the normal Supershock mascara and this "MAX" version really isn't any different! I probably paid about a fiver on some deal in the Avon catalogue and to be honest it is actually worth it and I would buy it again. It works really well, leaves my lashes looking lovely and stays put as I need it to so it gets 5 stars from me!

More like a wet weekend than a Shocker of a Mascara - Not for me

=Avon SuperShock Max Mascara= I have to say that make up and toiletries are what I like reviewing, as this is one of my biggest money spenders. My neighbour is an Avon Rep, and I always have a look through the book, I like looking for offers, and one of the recent offers was Avon SuperShock Max Mascara. =Price and Availability= This is an Avon own brand, and can be brought from an Avon Rep, or order online, although there may be delievery costs. This was on offer for £4, for a 10ml tube, where the RRP was £8.50. =Colours= This was available in two colours, black and black/brown, - so for a change I thought I would try the black/brown one. =The Packaging= The tube is about 15cm (6in) in length, and is a aqua green colour tube, you can't miss this in your make up bag. =My Experience= The mascara opened easily, the wand was attached to the lid, and I did notice that the brush looked smaller in length than some mascaras, but what it lost in length it had a chunky appearance, my guess was that with the brush being chunky it loads more mascara, at this point my concern was that it would leave a clumpy feel. I will say applying I was more careful, as I did notice that the mascara was thick and was coming out quite heavy, I had to struggle a bit trying to get to my lower lashes at the side, as I felt like I could do with a third hand, to help me get to the lashes. =Was it worth it?= Despite all the fun and games getting the mascara on, I am pleased to say it stayed in place well, made my lashes look fuller and even 6 hours later the mascara was still in place. =Removing= I found the mascara easy to remove, although it did take a bit of rubbing, maybe that was due to the heaviness of the application, =Would I buy again?= Sorry but no I wouldn't buy again, it is ok I am still using the mascara, but for me the hassle and the awkwardness of the masacra just outweighs any positive results

Not one of the best mascaras

We always have an Avon catalogue floating around at work and every now and again, I give one of their products a try. This retails at around £8.50 for a 10ml tube, at the time I brought it, there was a promotional offer and I think I paid around £4. It is available from your local Avon representative or on-line (if you go online, they can also put you in touch with a local rep so you don't have to pay delivery charge). My tube is a aqua green colour, measures around 6inches long and has a screw top lid which is really easy to remove; the mascara wand is quite thick and has small, close together bristles on. There are two different colour choices available, black and brown, I chose the black which has a really nice thick consistency, so I was really looking forward to trying this. Having worn mascara since my early teens, I would say I have had lots of experience applying however I because the wand is quite chunky, I struggled to apply on my smaller lashes. My lashes do look a lot fuller however I find this mascara isn't very subtle and makes my lashes look too fake. I find that mascara clumps really easily too, especially if applying more than one coat which I like to do at the weekends and my lashes also feel quite stiff, as if I have 'caked' them. A good point about the mascara is that by the end of the day, the mascara stays in place and I don't have 'panda' eyes. When it comes to removing the mascara, it comes away easily with my eye make up remover and requires little rubbing which is always a good thing. I still have the mascara, I use but to be honest, have never really used it since the initial few times, it will be one of those make up purchases that ends up getting thrown away! Although I paid a reduced cost, I think £8.5 RRP is quite steep for a mascara that doesn't do the greatest of jobs, especially when I can buy a similar one from Boots for less than 50p more, or better still, one for £1 from MUA. Overall, I don't think I will be repurchasing this mascara, even if it was to be on offer again and I would only give 2 out of 5 stars. Thanks for reading.

        Disadvantages

A fantastic mascara, low budget price but definitely not low budget effects!

I'd always bought more expensive mascara with the belief that cheaper mascaras were clumpy and flaky and it was definitely worth spending money on 'better' brands. However when my mascara ran out and I was short on money I saw an offer in the Avon catalogue for the Supershock mascara and decided to buy it as a back up until payday when I'd then replace it with my more expensive mascara. That was months ago and my back up mascara has now become the only one I'll buy! The mascara gives a good thick coverage and doesn't feel flaky or clumpy at all. The effects are definitely noticeable my lashes look fuller and more dramatic really making my eyes stand out for all the right reasons! The first week I used it I was asked numerous times by friends what mascara I was using and I've since convinced another 3 friends to switch to this mascara. I buy the waterproof version so I can't comment on the non waterproof one. The waterproof version isn't the most waterproof I've ever tried, I wouldn't risk going swimming with it on however for day to day wearing it's fine and doesn't smudge. It's easily taken off with make up remover wipes so no harsh rubbing of eyes to get it removed. At £10 full price in the catalogue it's a fantastic buy, however what I love even more is that Avon very often have deals on that include this mascara either at a cut price or as part of a package deal so it's even more of a bargain!

A do-all piece of make up that opens up your eyes and can achieve a subtle or heavier look.

You know when you buy something as an after thought? Well, this is how I happened across this mascara. Having used this mascara for over three months, I don't feel compelled to go back to another higher-end brand. It has never clumped, it builds for evening wear or sits pretty with a few coats for day time. My lashes are fanned out, extended and don't flake onto my cheeks during the day. I can coat my bottom lashes without getting mascara EVERYWHERE. Avon's mascara lives up to it's name in the most cliched way possible. It is cheap but you'd never guess. The packaging is fine although I've always been a bit of a novelty buyer (remember the neon green and pink mascara we've all bought because it looked nice?) and I would recommend that users turn up their lashes with an eye-lash curler to get the best out of this. TIP: heat up a cheap metal eye-lash curler with a hair dryer briefly to make the curl hold longer.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Worth it's £10 price tag

This mascara is available to buy from the Avon brochure or the Avon website which is www.avonshop.co.uk. The mascara is priced at £10 and it's available in two colours. You can choose the black shade or the brown/ black shade. I opted for the black shade as I like my lashes to be as dark as possible. The mascara has a decent sized brush that is comfortable to use. The brush isn't too large that it gets in the way but it's large enough to cover each and every lash. The mascara is easy to use and it's pretty much fragrance free. The black shade is great as it covers my naturally fair lashes without making them appear "fake", which is not such a good look. I prefer a more natural appearance which is what I get from this mascara. The mascara doesn't flake or clump and it doesn't give you the dreaded "spider eyes" look. It goes on well and it dries quickly too. If you're looking for volume from a mascara I would recommend this one. It gives my lashes heaps of volume, even the corner lashes, and it extends the lashes too. My lashes appear longer and more defined. This effect lasts all day, or until you remove the mascara. Removing the mascara is easy. It just wipes off with a simple make-up wipe. The mascara doesn't irritate the eyes and it's comfortable to wear all day (and all night) long. I would recommend this mascara. I bought it when it was on offer but I would pay £10 for it as I get good results from it.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A really fantastic product

With 3 children I do not really find time to go shopping for myself although I do like to make myself up from time to time so I find Avon a good way to purchase my make up products. I had tried the super shock mascara and thought I would give the max one a try and I cannot believe how different the 2 are. It retails a £10 but with all Avon products if you wait a campaign or 2 you will find that most of the time they are on offer I actually picked this up for just £4. It is available in 2 shades black and black/brown shade. It comes in a 10ml tube which I find lasts me for months especially as I currently have over 30 mascaras I cannot resist them when I see them on offer. The product As with most mascaras this comes in a long tube with a screw top lid where once opened you find the applicator attached to the inside of the lid. The tube is rather large in width but I find that this makes it easier to hold and I can get a good grip of it. When I saw the applicator I was a little worried as it is huge much bigger than my other mascaras almost twice the size in fact. I always manage to poke myself in the eye with them so I really thought it would be impossible to apply this one which at first it was rather difficult. The bristles are all a good space apart and nice and long meaning once you run them through your lashes they separate them and lengthen them by pulling your lashing along the whole of the applicator head. First time application When I first used this product it was a little difficult to apply as the applicator brush is huge which with my little lashes is not too great. I ended up smudging the mascara under my eye, with big blotches all over my lashes and over all a big mess. After removing and trying again I found small gently strokes worked a lot better and was able to coat my lashes and they looked fully and longer. The mascara itself is not runny which makes the perfect consistency is great but at the same time it is not sticky so that your eyelashes all clump together so it really is. It dries really quickly on your lashes and does not feel sticky and heavy creating a light yet effective result for the rest of the day. After I got the hang of it The more I used this mascara the more I loved it I found the technique was to take my time and by doing this the large brush would coat all of my lashes in 1 sweep and then I could apply the mascara to my smaller corer lashes afterwards. The large brush head which I thought would cause a problem at first was actually brilliant for faster application and creating an amazing full effect without leaving my lashes clumpy and without smudging. I find if I am going out for the evening on a rare occasion I can re apply this mascara over the layer I added in the morning and rather than getting the spider look lashes it actually goes on a dream and just freshens up the full look I am looking for and after using a lot of mascaras not many can do that. Removal Although this is very long lasting and can stay put all day it is still very easy to remove I just use my face cloths and gently wipe them over my lashes and the mascara comes away. There is no real effort need to be put in and you soon have all the mascara removed which is fantastic for mascara that has that much staying power. Overall I found the applicator brush holds just enough of the product needed to add to your lashes so there is not excess that transfers on to them and make them messy. I often do not like black as with my fair skin it makes me look like a zombie if my eyes are too dark so I chose the brown/black shade and this mascara was perfect it stands out but is not too dark creating a half natural looking but with a really full long lash look. I can put this on early in the morning before the school run, work for the day and look after my 3 children without the mascara fading or flaking away. Once you get the hang of it you will find it easy to apply and only takes a minute or two to have gorgeous looking lashes. I would recommend this mascara if you shop around and get it when it is on offer I love it and it has become one of my most used mascaras to date I will be stocking up again when I find it on offer.

Great mascara which worked perfectly for me

I bought this mascara when it was first brought out, it was about £5 or £6. To be honest I didn't mean to purchase this mascara, I was actually meant to purchase the normal supershock mascara as I don't like blue bottles (weird I know but I hate waterproof mascaras and this is what they remind me of). Anyways, I like to chop and change my mascaras regularly as I find that my eyelashes look better when they're exposed to new chemicals and different brands, however I do have my favourites that I keep going back to and this has just been added to that collection. I am surprised by Avon at their ability to produce such an excellent mascara, I think it may actually be better (for me anyways) than some of the more expensive brands out there. Everytime I wear the SuperShock Max my boyfriend always asks if I have false eyelashes on. It really does volumise and lengthen the lashes. I am blonde and have therefore very pale eyelashes, they are quite long it just isn't noticeable when I have no mascara on, therefore I find myself wearing mascara most days. I generally only wear the Avon SuperShock Max Mascara on an evening as it has such a dramatic effect and prefer to wear its less impressive sister, the SuperShock Mascara during the day. I am really impressed by this mascara and will be a continued customer.

          .

I just recently bought this Mascara. This came out a couple of books ago in the Avon book. The normal price of this is £10 but it has been on offer since it came out. I think it was £7 when it first launched, but I got it gor £5, which I thought was a good buy. I like to stock up on such products when they are on offer. Mascara is a product I use every day as I have light Lashes which are fine, so things that are offering volume or longer lashes etc then I tend to get as I could do with some help in that department. The tube for this is different than the usual black coloured plastic packaging. This is a nice green colour and the writing is silver on the tube. It is quite a chunky tube, but still easy to hold. To look at the wand it looks like the bristles have mostly fell off, it looks a little bit sparse, but this is just because the bristles seem a little clumped together and also they are a bit zig zagged probably to make brushing this through your Lashes and hopefully plumping them up too. You get this in Black and Black/Brown. So how do I find that this works? Well although the Mascara is damp, it isn't overly wet, so doesn't seem to come out gloopy and so far i've not had any clumps from this. I find that you can get the brush for this right into your Lashes and I wonderif this action pushes the Lashes out a little to help with the volume. This Mascara claims to give up to 15x volume, but I find it hard to measure any kind of volume with any Mascara's. I find that this coats my Lashes well, and I think they do look a bit fuller. I do just give my lashes 1 coat, so perhaps if I was to give them another coat then the appearance would be a bit different. They look slightly longer in my view, but not that much different. My lashes are fine and stumpy normally. I would consider to keep buying this Mascara but only when it is on offer. It is a good Mascara but I just wouldn't pay £10 for it (but that's me afterall!)

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A reasonably priced mascara that does almost everything it says on the packet!

The Product ~ 'Shockwave' In my on-going search for the perfect mascara, I came across Avon's SuperShock Max 10ml mascara in the company's campaign fourteen brochure via my local Avon representative. With claims of an up to fifteen times volumizing effect, I ordered the product with enthusiasm. The product comes tightly sealed in a cellophane packet that has a serrated strip for easy opening. The mascara's tube is a classy shiny turquoise with silver lettering in simple Calibri font with the words 'SHOCK' and 'MAX' standing out prominently in bold capitol letters. The mascara is available in black and black/brown shades, I chose the former. The tube is 5 inches long and 1 ½ cm in width at its widest point. The wand is 8 cms in length to the rim of the lid with the helix bristles measuring 3 cms. The aroma of the liquid has a fairly distinctive chemical odour but not unpleasant. Avon has the actress, Reese Witherspoon, fronting their advertising campaign to promote the mascara. Usage Experience ~ 'Shock Absorber' 1) I dispensed with my usual preparation technique of using an eyelash curler, preferring instead, to see how good the mascara is without help! Two full twists of the lid and the wand easily slides out with minimal effort to reveal the lengthy wand and helix shaped applicator. The thickness of the tube affords comfortable usage of the cosmetic. Apparently it is the helix bristles that are supposed to maximize 'formula pick-up to give lashes intense volume'! I do not feel that the innovative shape of the brush furnishes me with more 'formula pick-up' than other mascaras, but I am happy with this; I do find brushes that tend to overly gather mascara contents tend to also contain glob dules that I'd need to remove before applying the cosmetic anyway! 2) I begin by applying the jet black fluid to the upper lashes with an upward turning motion of the bristles. I use the magnifying side to my two sided mirror for accuracy. Placing the mirror beneath my eye line so that I'm looking down helps me to avoid mishaps in applying the tool. This angle also affords clearer visibility and an improved angle for using the mascara more carefully, avoiding unintentional strokes. I operate the brush in slow movements and holding the wand parallel, proceeding with long upward strokes from the lid then toward the tips of the eye lashes. By gently rolling the brush slowly on the long upward strokes allows me to separate my eye lashes. The thin clump free liquid affords much less tackiness and sticking of the lashes than I have been accustomed to with other mascaras. Because the bristles are separated in neat sections of three rows, I do find the rolling technique easy and the practical design assists the lashes from clumping together. 3) I leave around two to three minutes before making secondary applications to allow the liquid to dry. The fluid takes less time to dry than many other brands. I am thrilled with the second coating on my medium length lashes. As claimed by Avon, the 'weightless formula plumping fibres expand around lashes for maximum drama' is clearly noticeable with a second application of the fluid. I am unable to confirm the 15 x volumising effect, but their 'up to' stands as around 2 ½ x for me on a second coat. I tend not to add another coat as past experience furnishes me with a look similar to one of Danny La Rue's alter egos! 4) My eyes tend to water, and so I use less mascara and simply use a sweeping motion from side to side on my lower lashes just to add a little volume and colour. Results ~ 'Culture Shock' The liquid coverage from the wand's applicator is thin but very effective. The short but uniquely designed bristles enable me to apply ample mascara to the smallest of lashes on my lower lids. The jet raven black liquid provides a prominent look. A third or fourth coat would be very suitable for a striking appearance on an evening out! I tend to wear a secondary coating of the mascara as a noticeable look for everyday wear. As yet, I have been very pleased to find no flaking or clumping whilst applying and wearing the mascara throughout the day. Although the look isn't natural, what mascara is? The only time it gives a false lash look, is when four or more layers are added! As for 'weightless formula', well, the cosmetic may feel a little heavy soon after application but this is brief. Apart from my peripheral vision, I'd forget I was wearing this mascara :~) This is not a waterproof product, although it can with stand light and brief showers. The mascara takes around three applications of my Avon cream make-up remover to be completely eliminated Would I Recommend? ~ 'Shock Tactics' I would certainly recommend this quality hypoallergenic mascara as an effective volumiser and thickening agent that leaves lashes looking long, separated and attractive...now to work on the rest of my face! :~) I ordered mine through my local Avon representative but the product can be ordered on line too. I advise looking on the company's website: http://www.avon.uk.com for their products. Or go to; https://www.avon.uk.com/PRSuite/orderABrochure.page {page 26 to see the mascara. The site allows customers to pay for products in a variety of methods, such as by MasterCard, Solo, Maestro, Visa, Visa Electron and PayPal. The Avon SuperShock Max mascara is currently available at the reduced price of £6 instead of the usual £10. Thank you for taking the time to read my review on the Avon SuperShock Max mascara, I hope it was beneficial :~) xXx
