Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Quad
Advantages: long lasting, good quality
Disadvantages: lighter colours don't transfer very well
I have a few different Avon eyeshadow quads. There are currently 13 different quads available to buy on the Avon website.
~ Use ~
I don't use these eyeshadows very often as I have got it into my head that they are poor quality and it is hard to transfer the colour onto your skin.
I have found this to be the case with lighter colours such as a light gold colour that I have in one of my eyeshadow quads, which does not show up easily on my skin and it appears transparent. I also have a white colour, which is more visible than the gold, but needs to be built up for a proper coverage.
The darker shades of browns, beiges and blues are great and they transfer onto your skin easily and with no problems. The colours do not need to be built up at all.
One of the quads that I have is called 'tiger's eye' and it has two gold colours (one light and one dark) and a light and a dark brown in it.
The gold colours have minimal shimmer, but it is the brown colours that I like as even in the compact they appear matte, they feel like they are good quality and they transfer onto your skin easily.
Once on your skin the eyeshadow is long lasting and will not budge all day unless you rub it off. It is easy to remove with a wipe or cleanser.
~ Packaging ~
The quads eyeshadow is a square shape only with slightly curved edges and the word 'AVON' is imprinted onto the front of the compact. It is different to that pictured, which is a much older version of the quad eyeshadows.
The compacts are black and my 'tiger's eye' compact has animal print in a bronze colour on the front, but the other quad compacts I have lines of silver dots coming from the middle of the compact (like rays of sunshine). I like the effects on both of them and I have seen in the Avon brochure and online that there is a new design for some of the new shades that have been released, where the front of the quad seems to be splashed with colour - it is a nice design with bright blues, turquoise and lilac in it. It looks really nice.
Inside the compact you get a large mirror and a double ended applicator as well as the four round eyeshadows.
~ Price ~
All of the quads are currently reduced from £8.50 to £6.00 and you get a free 'party glamour gift set' when you spend £12 on make-up (this gift set consists of a supershock mascara which I previously reviewed and really like, 15ml Little Red Dress perfume (long tube spray), which I have and can also recommend and also a gold nail polish).
You can buy online at www.avonshop.co.uk or order from your Avon representative (if you have one) via the Avon brochure.
~ Conclusion ~
Overall I do like these quads, but wouldn't buy or recommend them for the lighter colours. I don't usually have a problem with white eyeshadows, but the one in my Avon quad needs to be layered to achieve the desired effect.
The colours are long lasting and will stay on looking as good as new all day.
The compact is nice and I like the different designs they have. The mirror is also handy and the applicators work well if you don't have a brush to hand.
I would definitely buy more Avon eyeshadow quads in the future, but I will try to avoid lighter shades as I won't get the same use out of them.
Summary: Nice quads!
