“ Brand: Avon / Type: Eyeshadows / Suitable for: Eye „
On a shopping spree to find new makeup I turned to the old faithful Avon catalogue and plumped for some Avon True Colour Eye shadow single.
There were many shades to choose from, which is always good; I bought Chestnut shimmer and Midnight Plum. I bought them for £2.50 each and have since bought other colours as gifts for friends. They come in a black plastic round case that flips open that has Avon on the top. There is no mirror in the lid which I always find annoying, the case has a cut out shape that the sponge applicator sits in, the actual shape is twice as big as the actual applicator so they could have made the space smaller and used more powder but that's just my opinion. I also hate the sponge applicators with a passion so they could have done away with it altogether.
The colours are lovely and bold, they go on well and stay put they don't need re-applying half way through an evening. They blend with other colours nicely and do not fold in the creases. Overall a very worthwhile purchase that I would recommend.
No story today guyss! Sorry! :(
The packaging is a small compact, sleek, black, square, plastic case. It has AVON engraved on the top and is good for travelling as it really is a small little thing. When you open the top the eyeshadow comes in a circle and it packaged in a dome shame. It comes with a sponge tip applicator which is actually quite sturdy but it really is simply too small of a brush to work with- unless your in the car/plane which for that is perfect.
I have the shade 'Chestnut' and it is a deep brown/bronze shade with a gold sheen to it. This shadow looks great on its one, all over the lid (but make sure you do not go above the crease with it) or you could pair it up with other eyeshadows or put it on top of a similar cream eyeshadow base. As this colour is fairly neutral it can be used with various of different looks and outfits. The application is really easy, if your putting it on top of a cream eyeshadow use a flat eyeshadow brush but if your using alone a simple sponge tip applicator does the job. I personally find using a flat eyeshadow brush works best as it packs on the colour and you get the most pigmentation you could out of the colour. The eyeshadow is not powdery at all but is very smooth and silky, it is not gritty and it does not feel uncomfortable on the eyelid or even on the lower lashline. It has excellent pigmentation however it does crease without an eyeshadow primer after 2 hours, so for oiler lids use an eyeshadow primer underneath to stop creasing throughout the day. This lasts for 24 Months which is a good amount of time to finish off an eyeshadow however as it is not matte I do not use this everyday but rather on occasions. But for those who love a neutral wash of colour everyday and do not like overly glittery eyeshadows this is the one for you!
You can buy this online at avon.com/avon.co.uk or you can buy it through your local Avon Representative. I bought this on sale for £1.50 but I think it retails for £4? I really have no idea but it definitely isn't more than £5, still I think it is a really good eyeshadow and even £5 is a good price (Although I would wait for the sales, personally)
I would not buy this eyeshadow again as I think it would last a really long time and I use more matte shadows as opposed to shimmer/sheen shades but I do recommend it.
Hope this helped! x

This eyeshadow comes in a wide range of colours, which is one of the reasons I like it so much. I have Electric Purple, Lavender, Metal Rose, Magenta Flash, Jeans, Emerald... And they are just the colours I can think of! It is entirely possible that I have a couple of others. As is evident from the list, this range includes some quite unusual, vivid colours, and I love this aspect of this eyeshadow.
The product goes on smoothly and evenly. I usually use a brush to apply it, but there is usually a little sponge applicator included if you like that sort of thing. Once applied, the colour is just as vivid as it looks in the pot, and it is easy to build up more colour or blend in a different shade, as the texture of the eyeshadow is, as promised by Avon, silky.
The colour lasts well, and creasing is minimal. Avon's claim that it is "creaseproof" is perhaps a little optimistic, but I would certainly describe it as crease resistant. It is easy to remove, and causes no irritation to my sensitive eyes.
At £5, I would consider this eyeshadow to be a little overpriced although you seem to get quite a lot for your money. It is often included in special offers, so, bought at the right time, is excellent value for money. The only reason I have shied away from awarding five stars is that I don't love it quite as much as I love Avon's Precision Glimmer Eyeshadow.
AVON TRUE COLOUR EYESHADOW SINGLE
I bought one of these lovely little eyeshadow singles from Avon about four or five months ago, because I just thought they looked quite cute and because there were some really nice colours.
There are nine different shades that this eyeshadow single is available in. There used to be some more than this, such as pink and chestnut, but for some reason they aren't available anymore. The shades available to buy from the brochures at the moment are:
To be honest I think all the shades are quite nice and there is quite a good variety there to choose from. I like the purple shades and think they bring out the green in my eyes. I also like the chesnut shades as these suit my skintone (which is pale) quite well.
The price is marked as normally £5. I think this is a good price, I have seen these as low as £2.50 before now though so you could wait for them to be on offer if you didn't want to pay full price.
As these are from Avon if you do want one you have to order through your rep if you have one (those people who bring brochures to your door) or you could order online if you don't have one. If you do have a rep though its probably a good idea to order from them as thats where you usually get the best offers, samples sometimes come with orders, and you don't have to pay for delivery.
I really like this little eyeshadow singles because there are lots of lovely colours to choose from, they aren't too expensive, they look quite cute, they come with a brush in the compact. Unfortunately there isn't a mirror on the back of the lid of the compact, though, which I think would have added a nice touch.
The shadow itself seems quite smooth and glides easily onto your eyelids. It has never irritated my skin or anything like that. The colour stays for quite a long time, and I have found to make it last longer and look brighter an easy way to do this is by wetting the brush before you put some on.
I love trying different colours of eyeshadow, and always eagerly read the new Avon book when it arrives. I look in the fashion and beauty magazines and try to find the latest trends (that I can pull off), and then have a root around in my make up bag to see if I already have it. I wanted to find some make up that could give me a slightly goth look without being too heavy, and while I had one colour I wanted another to blend with it to complete the look.
The Avon book had the answer. The True Colour Eyeshadow Single is a nicely sized little pot of eye colour. 2.5g of fine, silky powder that when I rubbed my finger over it stayed nicely there. The colour I bought was White Pearl, but there are 9 colours to choose from. There are shades varying from office neutral Chestnut to the vibrant and colourful Jeans or Magenta Flash which I would wear for a night out.
It comes with an applicator, but sadly doesn't have a little mirror in the lid so you have to have one with you or be near one before putting it on. But, when I put the colour onto the applicator it transferred nicely to my eyelid without flecks of colour falling onto my cheek and potentially looking out of place. I put it on early in the morning and was pleased at about 2:30pm when I looked at it that it was still crease-free and fresh. Result.
It is priced at around £5, but you can usually find offers in the Avon book to buy similar or complementary products. It doesn't have the same "off the shelf" availability as it usually takes a week or so to arrive - this will be good for repeat orders. However, as this product lasts for a long time, you will probably buy it once.
Ive got 5 of these Avon eyeshadows cos I haven't got much money to spend on make up and they were on special offer so I stocked up on them.
The packaging is different from the picture Dooyoo have got and it is square now with more room around the eyeshadow powder.
I like it because I can use the colour lightly for a sheer effect or build it up in layers for if I am going out and want it to look more dramatic. My favourite is the Jeans colour which is a denim blue colour and looks fab with my blue eyes and blond hair. I have got the Pale Gold as well but i use that more as a highlighter ebcause the colour isn't very strong to be worn on its own.
This eyeshadow is easy to apply and the sponge applicator that comes with it is a perfect size to control and the handle is just long enough for me to be able to hold it properly.
This eyeshadow is good because if I put it on in the morning it lasts all day without fading too much and doesn't smudge around the bottom of my eyes. It doesn't sink into the creases on my eyelids either and that is good cos one I brought from The Body Shop looked terrible when I wore it in the hot weather and it melted into the creases.
You can use the different colours together and its easy to find ones that go well together. I somtimes wear the Electric Purple one with the Jeans eyeshadow and they look trendy and a bit gothy.
At the minute they are £5 each but the True Colour make up is on special offer a lot, I think mine worked out at £2.50 each once the special offers had been taken into account.
If you receive brochures from your local Avon representative then you may be aware of their popular True Colour eyeshadow singles. The picture here on the dooyoo website is of the eyeshadow single "orchid" which is a very deep purple with a gothic undertone. It's popular with my younger customers. You can also get this eyeshadow in: Lavender, Metal Rose, Icy Blue, White Pearl, Olive, Chesnut, Blue, Nude and Espresso.
Each eyeshadow comes in an attractive little black case that simply snaps open to reveal a generous sized eyeshadow and a miniature application brush. The item comes boxed which I think is important as no-one wants to receive a scuffed product they have paid good money for.
These single eyeshadows cost £4 each usually but there are frequently special offers in the Avon brochures that mean you can get these for less than that. In brochure 13, which my customers are ordering from at present, they are offering a "buy 2 choose 1 free" special offer. So you could have three of these eyeshadows for £8 which is less than £3 each. In brochure 14 you can buy two for £7 which is £3.50 each. I think that's very good value for money considering how much you'd pay for the equivilant product in a shop.
The quality of these is very good though I would be lying if I tried to claim they were amazing. They're not, they're simply a good quality basic eyeshadow product at a very competitive price. I find that they blend easily and stay put all day long though I do also find they can feel a little dry and I personally prefer the creamier eyeshadows like Jillian Dempsey. But of course, you have to pay more for those.
As a basic eyeshadow for every day use I highly recommend this. It goes on easily and stays put all day. It's probably not the best eyeshadow to choose for evening wear as it's a single and isn't designed to be blended with other colours unlike the baked duos (for example).
I am a big fan of make up, I have to admit and I really enjoy trying new make up products, even more so if they are free.
Last year, I ordered a number of products from my friend's Avon catalogue, having spent over a certain amount; I received a make up bag full of goodies, free. Within that bag was an eyeshadow, called 'True Colour' eysehadow.
The eyeshadow was one of Avon's single eyeshadows and in colour 'Chestnut'. These are currently on sales in Avon's latest book for £4 or 2 for £7. There was no choice in shade as it was included with my freebie bag but there is a selection of 10 shades available.
I had put this eyeshadow away for a while as I wanted to finish a number of other shades I had on the go before opening this one, so I have only recently opened this one.
Packaging wise, I have my usual gripe with Avon's over-packaging, yes; it was presented in a box, which was within the make up bag. However, moving on from there, we have a slim and sleek round plastic case. The case is in black and has a sturdy and secure flip opening. The word 'Avon' is embossed on the top. On the back of the case, there is a use by date of 24 months. I felt this packaging was simple and inoffensive. In addition, when holding the eyeshadow case for application, the case feels nice in your hand.
Opening the eyeshadow case, I noticed a very subtle and fresh scent, not overpowering, just enough to convince you this is a decent item of make up. There is no mirror, as you would expect, with this single eyeshadow, however there is a small eyeshadow applicator.
The colour- obviously I am reviewing the colour 'Chestnut' rather than elaborating on any other colours. The colour is a bronze based medium brown. It has quite a gold base to the colour which makes it ideal for highlighting your lids for summer. I would certainly say this is much more of a summer colour than a heavy chocolate brown would be and the colour does look fab with a tan. The colour is able to be built up from the lightest of shades to a slightly heavier colour. It you use the applicator, you can get a greater depth of colour than if you use an eyeshadow brush. I think this would suit those of us who have brown or hazel eyes.
When it came to applying the eyeshadow, I used the in pack applicator. The colour was easily picked up by the applicator. The eyeshadow didn't feel hard and I didn't need to press with any effort to pick up the colour, in fact 2 or three sweeps of the applicator across the eyeshadow picked up enough colour to cover one eyelid.
Applying the colour to the eyelid was simple; the applicator is nice and soft, so again, very little effort is needed to transfer the colour from the applicator to the eyelid. The powder is very smooth and doesn't drag on your eyelid. The colour applies smoothly and evenly across the eyelid.
To get a decent level of colour, I applied two coats to my eyelids. I have noticed on several occasions, that if I make an error, the colour is easily rubbed off with a finger or tissue.
I have been using this on and off now for 3-4 months. I have to admit that although the coverage initially is great, within a few hours, there is a high level of colour transfer to my brow bone. By the end of the day though, there is very rarely much colour left, except within the crease of my eyelid, so a reapplication at lunchtime if you want the colour to last all day is advisable. I have also found if I am applying powder to my face, I often use a small amount of powder across my lids, I have found that this helps the eyeshadow cling for a bit longer but I don't do this on a regular basis as the powder clogs my pores!
When it comes to removing this eyeshadow, it is very easy to remove, either with cleanser or eye make up remover, that is, if there is any powder left on your eyelids, no rubbing or dragging needed.
The eyeshadow caused me no irritation whatsoever, so this is a great achievement for me as many eyeshadows and mascaras cause me some minor irritation.
Overall, this is a good eyeshadow but not a great one. I think it is fine for a good, basic, staple eyeshadow. The range of colours is good and will suit almost every taste and complexion. I did feel however that this isn't going to be my favourite eyeshadow brand, purely due to the rub off factor, I prefer my eyehsadows not to have to be reapplied throughout the day, although I will definitely use it until it finishes. I can also see this last a long time as I have hardly touched the top in 3 months.
Certainly great value and a fun range but not as hard wearing as I would like.
Thanks for reading.
