Advantages: Not messy, is the colour it says.

Disadvantages: Not cheap, 3 quite bright pastel colours.

I don't usually buy make up from the internet but I thought I would try some Avon products as I needed to buy some hand cream, so whilst looking on the site, I found the Avon Mousse Eye shadow, and thought I'd give it a go.

Packaging
--------------
This product comes in a stick; it is approximately 11 cm in length and 1.5 cm in width. The stick is black and comes in a plastic wrapper, which is sealed showing only the bottom of the stick with the colour sticker on show.

The outer wrapping is quite horrible, you have to peel it the whole length of the stick to get it off. It is a thin plastic but what is more annoying is it has all the information on it, brand, product name and directions etc. So once you have ripped this off, you have to then keep it so you know what it is.

I think the information should be printed on the plastic case of the stick itself where the product is actually housed. Once the outer wrapping has been pulled off you discover a black stick, it is obvious by the line a third of the way up that one half is a lid, but which, you'll have to pull both ends and see.

Product
----------
The product itself is great, it is styled like a lip gloss so it is the right size to fit in a hand bag but also the eye shadow itself is shaped like a lip stick but instead of applying it to your lips you apply it to your eye lids.

It is quite hard but also soft, you can apply pressure to your eye lid and the colour comes out strong, but it is also quite a soft feeling and does not hurt. Obviously you don't want to poke your eye out. It is very mousse like but not runny which I find very helpful, I hate messy make up. The nice thing about the mousse aspect is when applying it, it isn't like dust or powder and doesn't end up all over your cheeks or anything.

The colour I have is velvet taupe, it is not too overpowering but comes out well, and it shows what colour it is on the sample as on your eye.

There are four shades:
Velvet Taupe
Soft Lilac
Sweet Mint
Tranquil Teal

The shape of the product can be a bit awkward as it is like a lip stick/gloss it isn't shaped for eyelids brilliantly and can be awkward to get the colour across the whole of your eyelid, I have quite small eyelids and this isn't too much of a problem just a bit tricky.

Price
-------
This normally costs £7.00, I got mine in the sale for £3.00.

Overall
----------
I really like this eye shadow, I am not keen on the other colours as they are a bit too bright for me, and I like the Velvet Taupe as it's a light shimmery brown and quite natural. I wouldn't pay £7.00 for it, but then again the stick is quite long and I can imagine it lasting quite a long time.

Summary: A good product, i will use until it runs out.

I might have to pinch this off you to try...I like the idea of it being in a stick. Saves the mess I hate! Great review Abs x

I was looking at this when my Avon catalogue came through the door - it really is silly that the info isn't printed onto the actual stick! Great review : ) Eleanor x
