===Why I Got This=== As I always see the Avon brochures I was aware of the 24K Gold lipsticks but thought it was all a bit of a gimmick. However as they now seem to be selling them off on clearance I thought I would give one a try. ===The Product=== Comes packed in a black cellophane wrapper that has to be peeled open. Made in Poland and contains Oxybenzone. Matt gold colour case with a shiny band around the centre - the case is slightly fatter in the centre. When you pull the top off the lipstick inside is twist up. The lipstick itself is an inch tall and has a chiselled top for ease of application - AVON is cut into the side of the lipstick. ===Cost=== £2.25 on discount but the original price was £8.50. ===My Opinion=== Avon state - 'Rich and creamy lipstick infused with real 24K gold particles for instant sparkle. Lips look luminous, soft and smooth and feel moisturised. Glides on smoothly and stays colour true'. I was not unduly impressed by the inclusion of gold in this lipstick but decided to order one when it was on sale for £2.50 as I imagined it would be in a nice case and be a good lipstick. The case is gold - both shiny and matt - but I do not think it feels especially opulent to me. The lipstick inside twists up easily and the appearance of the stick is very glossy and shiny - in fact the lipstick itself looks like it might even have a layer of plastic over it - which it does not. The gold flecks in the lipstick are very small and just add a sort of shimmer to the lipstick- rather than them being glittery. I must say I was disappointed with this lipstick. I had ordered Golden Peach - and I do tend to like many different shades - be they pinks, peaches or browns. However this peach was so subtle as to be more of a gloss covering and if it was not for the shiny effect you would not have known you were wearing anything. Not one I would really bother wearing as it did not give enough colour for me. Perhaps the darker shades give more coverage - but a shiny cheap lip gloss would have been just as adequate. Its supposed moisturising properties seem lacking as well. I also did not really like the feel of it on my lips after a while - quite unusual for me as I tend to use may different Avon lip products. This has now been discontinued from the Avon brochures and website but it may be brought back and can be purchased on Ebay. I would not think it was worth the full price and personally I do not want it for the £2 discount price either so I shall be returning it. ===Star Rating=== 1 star. Not worth the bother. ===Would I Recommend?=== No. ===Website=== www.avon-uk.com
Ultra Colour Rich, finally a name product that actually lives up to its name. When you hear of a product that actually has 24K gold it in, you have to try it don't you? (That may be just me though; I bought the Marmite with added gold flecks!!!) Although the price was a little steep I thought, I had to give it a go; if it didn't work I would without a doubt send it back for a refund. When I bought them Avon were doing an offer of 3 items for £10.00, as they were £8.50 each I couldn't resist. I bought three Amethyst gold's as the other colours didn't appeal to me at all. I have to give 10/10 for the actual look of the lipstick. The case is a matte gold with the inside being a shiny gold. Stunning, the lipstick itself was a beautiful deep shade of purple, you could see the actual flecks in it and it had a shine that was second to none. I applied it to my lips and it glided across my lips with no trouble at all. The shimmer from the little bits of gold was a lovely touch; there was a slight smell to the lipstick but nothing unpleasant. The colour I love, I think it's a shame that the other colours in the range are a little questionable, it may just be my hard luck because I don't like them but when paying that much for a lipstick, I would like a better choice. I cannot fault the lipstick at all, it feels nice on, the colour lasts a long time and the gold really does give you an amazing shine. If you can get it at a barging price then defiantly worth it, depends how much you are willing to pay for a lipstick really.
I have 2 Avon Ultra Colour Rich 24K Gold Lipsticks. I have one in Amethyst Gold and another in 24K Gold, which I have yet to use. The lipstick is available in 6 different colours and retails at £8.50 and it can be ordered from your local Avon representative from the brochure or it is available to order online from www.avonshop.co.uk. The brochure is available to view on the website and the lipstick is currently on offer. You can buy one for £8.50 or two for £8.00 or three for £10.00! This is not just these lipsticks you can mix and match over a few pages of all different make-up including a foundation that usually costs £10.50 (and now you can get 3 for £10)! ~ Packaging ~ The lipstick comes in a light gold plastic 'stick' with a silver metal 'belt' around the middle with Avon imprinted into it. The bottom of the lipstick has a little label on with the name of the lipstick shade. It also provides an address for Avon and advises that this product was made in Germany. The lid is easy to remove and clicks back into place when it is replaced. The lipstick twists up and it is just under 3cm at its tallest point. It is the usual lipstick shape - it goes up to a point with a flat edge. The word 'AVON' is also imprinted into the side of the lipstick. ~ Use ~ My favourite of my two lipsticks is the Amethyst Gold one. It is a deep, dark red which is shimmered with little specs of real 24k gold, which shine with the lipstick in the light. On application the specs of gold come off onto your lips with the lipstick. Aside from the specs of gold, the lipstick is very shimmery and looks very effective. I really love this lipstick. I find it is easy to apply and glides over the lips giving a good even coverage. The colour does not bleed or run. It is fairly long lasting, unless I am eating or drinking, in which case I do need to reapply it regularly as I would expect. This lipstick has a very luxurious feel to it. The Amethyst Gold is the darkest shade that this lipstick comes in, but it does not look out of place or over the top on me and I have very fair skin. The lipstick is moisturising and does not make your lips feel or appear dry. ~ Overall ~ Overall, I really love this lipstick and would definitely buy it again. It has a really nice shimmer to it and creates a nice effect, which lasts a fair amount of time before needing to be reapplied. It is a good quality lipstick and it is not drying at all. I think at £8.50 it is reasonably priced, but the current offer that allows you to get 3 make-up items for £10.00 is a really good offer and it includes all different types of make-up! I would recommend this lipstick to any lipstick wearer who has yet to try it. I intend to purchase a few of the colours I don't yet have and I would definitely buy my current shade again.
**The lipstick** When I first spotted this in the catalogue the novelty factor that pulled me towards buying this lipstick I that it contains real 24k gold particles providing colour with a sparkle finish which sounded amazing. The lipstick comes in a gold case to continue the gold theme and there are a number of shades available all with gold in their names again. On opening the lipstick it seems very promising it looks high quality and you can really see the gold speckles shining in the lipstick. I did find the casing was a little large on these lipsticks not so much so it was difficult to apply but enough to feel a little strange when first sitting in my hand. The lipstick of course you twist out and there is a nice amount of the product so even though it needs to be applied regularly it lasts for a long time. It of course has a slanted edge to the lipstick to make it easier for application and this helps make it very easy to apply the lipstick. There are only five or six shades available and they all seem little bright rather than deeper colours so I am not sure everyone will find a match to their skin tone. As I do need to carry this around with me I have found the casing scratches a little but the lid stays firm and it can handle bumps and bashes fairly well without looking years old when I do need to re apply it. **In use** What I love about this lipstick is that it goes on the lips very easily. As I rub it across my lips it settles easily and just the right amount of the product is left on the lips with one stroke. The lipstick feels really light on my lips which I love as I can just forget that it is there altogether. Also it has a really creamy texture meaning although I still like to apply a balm first to make sure my lips are moisturised otherwise lipstick tends to highlight the dry area I can still wear this without any worry that my lips will dry out. Once the lipstick has been removed my lips do not feel any more moisturised than usual but again there is no dryness that I have experienced with over lipsticks. I have the rosy gold which I think really suits my skin tone. It is a lovely colour really warm and attractive to look at without being too over the top. It is a little brighter than other rose shades I own but it is still a lovely shade and the glistening effect really adds to the appeal. There are other colours available but as mentioned before they tend to be brighter colours more pinks and purples. The lipstick is highly pigmented meaning it leaves a noticeable colour change on your lips. It is not too bright so that it stands out miles away but there is a nice colour that is noticeable rather than natural. Although there is a definite shine to this product it only really glistens when you are looking at it close up or in the light. It is not overly sparkly so I feel like it is too much to wear in the day but I can also wear it in the evening and by running two coats over my lips it gives a real glamour look without looking like my lips are overly coated. The problem is I do not find that this lipstick lasts very well at all. When I first purchased this I had high hopes as I have got on well with other Avon lipsticks but unfortunately this is not one of my favourites. When you first apply the lipstick it looks lovely, highly pigmented and I was very pleased with the result. However after just half an hour the lipstick was hardly visible anymore although it leaves a little glitter behind this is all that is left of the product after an hour meaning you have to carry it around with you and keep applying it. **Summary** This lipstick retails at around £8.50 which is a fair price to pay for this product in my opinion. I managed to purchase it for around £5 which I think is a little more reasonable for the product you receive. Of course you can purchase this from your Avon representative or online if you wish to purchase it. I really love the colour I own and love it for day to day use or for when I am going out in the evenings. I love this lipstick, I love the colour, I love the sheen finish and I love that a £8 lipstick feels like a much more expensive alternative. I am disappointed that the longevity is not fantastic but to be honest as it only takes a few second to touch up and reapply it is not something that has put me off the product forever but it does have to knock a star off my rating.
I'm not usually a fan of Avon make-up but while browsing the book a while ago I came across this 24k Gold lipstick from their Ultra Colour Rich range; reduced from £8 to £3.50, the colour looked perfect for me so I decided to give it a try despite finding Colour Rich lipsticks a little hit and miss. The shade I chose was Ruby in Gold, a vibrant red infused with teeny flecks of gold for a subtle glittery look on your lips. I really love this lipstick, and did from the very first time I used it. The formula is creamy and so lovely to apply, it's actually very similar in consistency to a Lancôme lipstick I am currently using - a lipstick that was more than double the price of this one and in all honesty is exactly the same, only in fancier packaging! The lipstick glides on smoothly and the colour is evenly deposited, it's a reasonably deep red even with just one coat but looks best when blotted and reapplied for a surprisingly strong but intensely feminine look. The gold really adds to the finish of the lipstick. Looking at my lips in the mirror I cannot exactly spot bits of glitter but they're visible in the shine and glimmer of the colour; it's strange as this colour red and the fact that there is glitter involved means it should be a totally inappropriate daytime lipstick, but it's not and looks great at any time of day and for any occasion. The shade is warm which detracts from the sexiness you'd usually expect from such a bold colour, it's not what I'd call a statement red as there are orange tones within the lipstick but once applied and blotted its certainly vibrant enough to ensure I'm noticed! When new the lipstick was perfectly shaped with a sharply angled tip for precise application, this was hugely impressive and I found myself disappointed when it lost its definition and became like any other lippy to apply. It still applies beautifully but I now have to be a little bit more careful to stay within my lip liner, you have to be particularly careful with reds as any slips or mistakes really show up and can even result in you having to take off your whole 'face' and start again! Not good but usually my fault rather than whatever lipstick I'm using at the time, Ruby in Gold is shaped well though and mistakes are easy to avoid with a firm grip on the lipstick barrel. Longevity isn't great, this is a lipstick that requires frequent touch ups through the day and if left too long can completely fade away leaving me with naked lips. For this reason I tend to use a nude lip liner to avoid the awful lip liner/no lipstick mismatched look, however Ruby in Gold doesn't bleed into the skin around my lips so often I'll forego the lip liner completely and put my trust in the excellent formulation of the lipstick. It's completely suitable to be touched up time and time again without starting to look smeary or overly 'messed with' - this isn't true of many deep colours so I find this impressive, especially since Avon lipsticks in general don't seem to touch up well. The packaging, by the way, is really lovely. It's a brushed gold barrel housing a shiny gold tube; gold coloured make-up can look extremely tacky but I think Avon have done this really well and created a lipstick that I'll happily take out wherever I am without the worry of embarrassing myself with a cheap looking item. The lid pulls off easily and clicks into place securely, it has never opened while being lugged around in my make-up bag despite some rough handling (I'm not the most careful person in the world!) and this is a good job as I reckon the soft consistency of this lipstick would collect every crumb and bit of fluff in my bag! Now, the 24k Gold range is currently unavailable in the Avon book but you can purchase it from several Ebay sellers for around £8. I've also bought it from Amazon where it's currently available for £12.50 including postage - I didn't pay this much but probably would if I don't find an equally nice glittery red in the meantime, I really love the colour and consistency of the lipstick with only its lack of staying power letting it down.
Ultra Colour Rich Lipsticks Avon cosmetics has a rather large variety of Ultra Colour Rich Lipstick selections including Moisture Seduction, Satin, Shimmer, Metallic, Enriched with pearls, Colouristic and 24K Gold. Each of the selections has a different finish or shine to suit different tastes, the shade and colour varieties are quite similar. The 24K Gold lipsticks in particular are said to provide "lavish lips with luxurious 24K gold sparkle" and "enriched with real 24K Gold" which I believe has truth I it. The overall finish is quite similar to the metallic selection of this brand though shows extra sparkle when applied to the lips. The packaging is similar to that of the other Ultra Colour Rich lipsticks in that they come in a cylinder container which pushes the lipstick itself upwards when gently twisted. It also has a little embellishment on the main body of the container where the lid pops off reading "Avon" in capital letters. What defines tis lipstick and sets it apart from the others however is the fact that the packaging itself is Gold throughout as opposed the others which are black and silver or black and purple, which is convenient if you have a few from different selections. Personal experience Being a big Avon connoisseur I have found that the Rose shades suit me the best and until I discovered the Avon Anew lipsticks. I used the 24K lipsticks due to their value which ranges at full price from £7-£8.50 and when at discount from £4.50/£5. I also found these rather moisturising and available in a great range of shades. I have never liked wearing lip gloss due to the fact that they can be really sticky and I don't like the way that they feel on my lips. Though I have found that the 24K Gold Lipstick gives the best of both as it feels like a lipstick yet is subtle especially in the Rosey gold shade but still gives a lovely sparking finish, the colour lasts for a few hours at the very least but does require some reapplication if you are consuming food or drink. I am aware that my next door neighbour, cousin and work colleagues are still a great fan of this lipstick so I would highly recommend it to anyone who can't decide what Avon lipstick to try first and have plenty of friends and family who could back me up. The lipstick is very easy to apply and isn't too soft or two hard in its texture nor is it sticky which I have found with some of the other Avon lipwear which seems to a waxy texture like the extra lasting or silky shine lipstick (haven't actually tried the extra lasting lip wear but it looks very similar to the silky shine version which I really dislike the shape and texture of in terms of its application). I do not wear lipstick everyday however and have found that after a while the lipstick does seem to change colour after a while though this isn't really a problem for me, but may be a problem for others. This is the only real problem I have found with this lipstick however otherwise I cannot really fault it. Ultra Colour Rich 24K Gold Lipstick shades Golden Peach Ruby Gold Rosey Gold 24K Gold 24K Pink Amethyst Gold Though there are maybe 30-40 shades if you inculde all the Ultra Colour Rich Lipsticks. Would highly recomend this product for everyday wear! Apologies if this review is allover the place, I have a very bad cold at the moment which is effecting everything I do.
I tried out this lipstick a while ago because at its original price, I thought that it was a little too expensive but I bought it when it was on offer for quite a reasonable price. I also loved the colour of this lipstick, and I do like it once applied, as it comes out in the same block colour as you expect it to from looking at the stick colour. I also think that the product in general is pretty stylish and elegant. Even the packaging looks nice (as gold can sometimes look a little tacky, but this doesn't) and I do like this product for when I'm on the go, as it fits really well in my purse and is easy to apply while travelling. Once applied, the lipstick does not smudge easily at all, but the lipstick did not last very long before fading in colour and becoming quite unnoticeable, mine stays on for an hour tops. The product though, has quite a nice texture, is feels quite light weight on my lips, and is not sticky, and does not make my lips feel dried out, which is always a plus. Overall I don't dislike the product, but I wouldn't say its one of my favourites, and probably wouldn't buy another one.
On the hunt for some new makeup I decided to choose this 24k gold lipstick from Avon, to be quite honest the deciding factor was the price as it was on offer! I did also like the claim in the book of the moisture and glittering fleck which would help to give the lipstick colour shine. The lipstick arrived and it was covered in the usual black plastic covering which has a small amount of detail about the lipstick, this is easy to remove as it has a perforated tear strip on it. Under this we come to the case of the lipstick and I am happy to say this is gold in colour with a matte finish but there is a shiny gold band around the middle which has the Avon logo on. The top of the lipstick is very easy to remove and just a small pull will see it coming off with ease. Under the lid in the lipstick barrel which is again shiny gold. To get the lipstick out for application the base just needs a few twists anti clockwise and then clockwise to return it to the safety of the barrel. The overall size of the lipstick including the case is 7.5 cm long and at the widest point which is the middle it is 2.5 cm wide, an ideal size for the handbag. The actual lipstick is a good shape, the tip is angled and rounded which gives easier application. The shape will change when this had been used for a good few times but this will depend on the shape of your lips and the way you apply to how it ends up. The lipstick is simple to apply, I find it best to work from the middle out with one stroke on each side of the top lip and the one long stroke across the bottom lip. When I first applied the lipstick I noticed that there was a good shine to it, there was almost a glittery appearance to the colour which I really liked. Once I had blotted my lipstick I noticed that this did fade slightly but the colour was still more shiny than a standard matte finish one. The colour was very rich and I did not have to use a lot to achieve the desired finish. I had been wearing my lipstick for about 2 hours and I noticed that the colour had started to fade slightly but this was no big issue as I had eaten dinner and been drinking, I was actually pleased that there was still some of the colour remaining. A big plus for me and this lipstick is the fact that it does not bleed off my lips, with the majority of lipsticks I have used in the past I find that after about 30 minutes of wear then tend to start bleeding off my lips and make me loose the defined line around the edge, this was not the ease with this and even after a light re application I still found I had defined lips. I also tend to get dry lips after wearing any type or brand of lipstick for more than a few hours but again this one did not do this to me, my lips felt very moisturised the whole time I wore this and even after I removed it they still had a good amount of moisture on them. The lipstick was very easy to remove and a small amount of baby lotion on a cotton wool ball saw it coming off with ease and no small patches were left. The lipstick is only available to buy from Avon and it has a price tag of £8.50,l this may seem high compared to other brands but it really is worth the money for the benefits it gives. The colour choice consists of, golden peach, ruby in gold, golden rose, nude gold, pink and amethyst gold, the one which I chose was nude gold and this gives the lips a shiny golden glow and there is a noticeable colour change but it is slightly more subtle than the other colours and perfect for everyday wear. The shelf life of the lipstick is 24 months, there are no indications as to whether this lipstick has been made sing animal testing or not. The packaging is not recyclable and there is a warning on the original black plastic cover it comes n that this lipstick contains oxybenzone. I ma more than happy to give this lipstick a good solid 5 stars. The colours are great and it moisturised lips and gives a lasting colour which does not bleed. The price tag may seem high to some but it is well worth it, if you are unsure then wait for it to come on offer in one of the Avon books, I will certainly be stocking up when it does!
