Advantages: Excellent stuff!
Disadvantages: Doesn't last amazingly - but doesn't claim to
I've had it pointed out to me recently that I've been slating quite a few Avon products on dooyoo, and the inevitable question has been asked: "why do you still buy this stuff?". Well, some of it has been quite good - and this is another one of the good guys.
For years and years I haven't been a lipstick wearer. When I was first discovering make-up as a kid and stealing mummy's when she wasn't looking, I'd worn lipstick when I could (generally all over the lower half of my face). But when I started to do my make-up properly, it didn't take me long, or many lipstick-on-teeth moments to decide that it just wasn't for me. Long-lasting lipsticks dried me out, moisturising lipsticks slipped off too easily. It was a lose-lose situation, and I gave up trying.
Having a sneaking suspicion that lipsticks might have improved over the last 10 years, I decided to treat myself to a lovely vibrant red lipstick from Avon. Red lippie is a look I love, and it just can't be achieved properly with gloss, balm... anything but lipstick really. It didn't take much deliberation to choose which lipstick I wanted from the Avon catalogue - as this was the only one available in anywhere near the bright shade of red I was after.
It was only after it arrived that I saw this was a bit of a weird lipstick - it has a moisturising mousse core, which is in a lighter colour than the main part of the lipstick. The colour I ordered was exactly as I'd hoped - the right shade of red to suit my cool skin tone and the first red that's ever properly suited me!
I usually apply with a lip brush, due to the dark colour I've got, but I have applied direct from the tube on occasion and it seems to work fine. The lipstick goes on smoothly either way, and really does feel moisturising. It leaves a nice almost glossy finish and looks just lovely.
I've used this quite often, and it's not bled on me once - the colour stays firmly within my lips. It wears for an acceptable amount of time, but it's not long-lasting, and doesn't claim to be. It will last a lot longer than gloss though, and also longer than other moisturising lipsticks I've tried.
When I take this off, my lips feel as if I've had balm on - usually my post-lipstick lips are not pleasant at all! After wearing this, however, I notice no difference in their condition to if I'd had something that was "doing me good" on instead. Result!
All in all, I'd recommend this. It doesn't last a particularly long time if you're eating or drinking, but otherwise it has pretty good staying power. It doesn't bleed out of your lip line, and it leaves your lips in good condition - it pretty much ticks all the boxes for me!
This costs £4 at the moment from Avon.
Summary: Great lipstick to turn it round for avon
