Avon SuperShock Max Mascara
by wazza115
We always have an Avon catalogue floating around at work and every now and again, I give one of their products a try.
This retails at around £8.50 for a 10ml tube, at the time I brought it, there was a promotional offer and I think I paid around £4. It is available from your local Avon representative or on-line (if you go ... online, they can also put you in touch with a local rep so you don't have to pay delivery charge). My tube is a aqua green colour, measures around 6inches long and has a screw top lid which is really easy to remove; the mascara wand is quite thick and has small, close together bristles on.
There are two different colour choices available, black and brown, I chose the black which has a really nice thick consistency, so I was really looking forward to trying this.
Having worn mascara since my early teens, I would say I have had lots of experience applying however I because the wand is quite chunky, I struggled to apply on my smaller lashes. My lashes do look a lot fuller however I find this mascara isn't very subtle and makes my lashes look too fake. I find that mascara clumps really easily too, especially if applying more than one coat which I like to do at the weekends and my lashes also feel quite stiff, as if I have 'caked' them.
A good point about the mascara is that by the end of the day, the mascara stays in place and I don't have 'panda' eyes. When it comes to removing the mascara, it comes away easily with my eye make up remover and requires little rubbing which is always a good thing.
I still have the mascara, I use but to be honest, have never really used it since the initial few times, it will be one of those make up purchases that ends up getting thrown away! Although I paid a reduced cost, I think £8.5 RRP is quite steep for a mascara that doesn't do the greatest of jobs, especially when I can buy a similar one from Boots for less than 50p more, or better still, one for £1 from MUA. Overall, I don't think I will be repurchasing this mascara, even if it was to be on offer again and I would only give 2 out of 5 stars.

Avon Plump Pout Lip Gloss
by emmad5689
I had heard good things about this lip gloss and decided to buy it a couple of campaigns ago as I like some moisture on my lips to prevent chapping and a little bit of colour is nice. The product is from Avon so you can buy directly from their website or from a representative, luckily a girl at work does Avon so I don't have to worry ... about delivery charge.
The lip gloss is available in a bout 6-8 colours and I bought the Natural Peck which is a sort of light brown colour but also has a slight orange tint to it, the lip gloss comes in a plastic squared off tube and you can see through to see the colour inside. The top of the tube is a twist off black lid and there is very little detail on it just the name of the product on the side and the name of the colour on the bottom and the fact that it holds 7mls.
The product costs £6 from Avon however at the moment you can buy 2 for £8 which mans you save 1/3 of the price which is great, I always wait for items to come on offer with Avon as they always have brilliant offers on. Avon state "A gorgeous gloss that inflates lips to maximum fullness and enhances your natural lip colour, feels lusciously moist and tingly fresh, dermatologist tested."
On unscrewing the lid you are met with a long wand with a little lip brush on the end, the brush is a lovely thickness but I do sometimes find that a bristle or 2 will stray out of line. The lip gloss is really thick and smells a bit minty, on applying to my lips I find that the colour covers really well and leaves my lips looking really shiny with a slight glitter in it. My lips tingle like made when I first put the gloss on which is the fullness effect although my lips don't seem to fill out much, after the tingling subsides my lips feel cold for a while and then after about half an hour or so they go back to feeling normal again.
I find that my lips feel nice and moist wearing this product, my lips look lovely and the cost is decent too, I don't find that my lips really plump up however I have full lips anyway so this may work better for someone with thinner lips. I would give this 4 stars from 5 due to the lack of the plumping effect. Read the complete review |
