Advantages: Great coverage, endless color combos and choices
Disadvantages: Expensive
i.d. Bare Escentuals has hit the world by storm in the last few years introducing makeup that is made from natural substances and minerals found in the earth. At first glace, this makeup appears to be just powder, but once applied it looks like cream and feels like nothing at all. As the informercials say the minerals are "so pure you can sleep in them." And I have.
The coverage of the foundation is pretty good. I'm lucky not to have a lot of redness or blemishes, but I do have enough where I want coverage. I found with other foundations it was very apparent you were wearing it. Let it be the cake like look, the famous "chin strap" or the best when you sweat and its streaky. I'd much rather go with none that any of that.
Bare Escentuals, at first glance, seems expensive. And yes the inital investment is. But when you think about how much make up you buy in year, its a lot no matter what brand you go with. This product lasts so much longer then any of the other brands. I purchased a foundation almost a year ago and its just about to run out, I'd say thats 20 bucks well spent wouldn't you?
The foundation shades are as follow:
Fair - This shade is for the fairest skin tones
Fairly Light - Fair to light skin tones. This has a golden undertone
Light - Light to Medium Skin Tones. This has a golden undertone
Medium Beige - Light to Medium Skin Tones. This has a golden undertone, but it has less than Light.
Medium - Light to Medium Skin Tones. This has a pink undertone which works well to brighten a sallow skin tone.
Tan - Deep Golden Skin Tones.
Warm Tan - Honey Amber Skin Tones, neutral undertone.
Dark- Medium Golden Skin Tones, neutral undertone.
Medium Tan Medium Golden Skin Tones. This has a golden undertone, but it has less than Light.
Deep - Medium to Dark Skin Tones.
Warm Deep - Warm Caramel Brown Skin Tones.
Deepest Deep - Rich Espresso Skin Tones.
Keep in mind when you purchase the 'starter set' you receive two different shades. This way you can use one, or the other, or what most people do is blend them to make the perfect match for you.
I'm sure many of you reading this have heard of this product, or seen it on tv, and you've all heard "swirl, tap and buff" this is how you apply the make up. Put a little in the lid, swirl the brush in it, tap off the excess and buff away!
I would recommend anyone giving this project a try. I love it, and will continue to use it. It's easy, its fast, it last a long time and it feels wonderful!
