Bare Escentuals i.d. BareMinerals Foundation
Advantages: Love this product, its a one stop-shop
Disadvantages: Zero - its amazing
Have you ever used Bare Escentuals? Its amazing stuff. The Cilit Bang of the make up world if you will. That is, you dont need any of the other products in your arsenal - concealed, liquid foundation, highlighter etc
The Tub: As you can see from the picture, it comes in a standard 9gram tub. And trust me when i say that this lasts for AGES. when you unscrew the top you get a little info leaflet explaining the benefits and the techniques and generally why its so good. But the thing i want to draw your attention to is that small plastic 'lock-tab'. this means that you know, guaranteed, that this is clean, unopened and unhampered with. It also means that the inside of the lid, which will become your paint pallet, is pristine. Its a reassuring little tab that you can trust to have kept the contends totally untouched.
The Brushes and The Applications: Ok, you really should invest in the Bare Escentuals brushes if you want to use this product to its full potential. I have three brushes. One for the heaver cover-up: under the eyes, side of the nose, the odd blemish etc. One brush for the over all face. One brush for the warming bronzer that is chiselled to your cheek bones.. So, three little words - "tap, swirl, buff". That's all you need to know. Tap a VERY small amount of the powder in to the lid, don't be tempted to over tap, you can always add more. the get your clean brush and gentle swirl in the lid until the powder has been 'absorbed' by the brush, this will take literally a couple of seconds. If you see a little cloud of the powder puff in to the air or some left over in the lid after your swirl, then you have used too much powder. Use less! now that you have loaded your brush you start to apply. Start under the eye area and buff out in little circles. repeat till you have covered your checks, forehead, nose and chin. You cannot over buff. the more you buff the smoother your face will appear. next, take the little concealer brush, load with powder using the same technique. apply to the under eye area or anywhere that you have any blemishes you wish to conceal. the coverage is excellent - you do not look caked in make up but your face looks a whole lot more flawless.
Upkeep of the Brushes: as with any make up bushes you need to keep these clean. once every 2-3 weeks seep in warm water, shampoo in your hand, condition and rinse thoroughly. leave to dry naturally throughout the day. It is important that you do not let your brush pick up too much unused powder as it will not glides on so evenly if the bristles are not clear of any debris.
How often should i touch-up my face: this foundation lasts a long time. If i am out and about i do not need to touch up. It wont rush off on someone's shoulder if you give them a hug, it wont make your white scarf orange and it wont melt if you get hot. if i go to the gym on my lunch hour i simply take an already-loaded brush in my bag and gently buff for a few seconds. this re-energises the powder already on my face. It is very reassuring knowing that my face will stay put! .
The Finish: Even, flawless coverage. Its a very natural look so you know you look good. There is nothing worse than over doing the make up if you are not feeling your best in an attempt to cover everything up, and then realising that you look like you have been tangoed half way through the day. Its simply never the case with this powder because you use such a small amount. It makes your face look smoother and is great for covering up dark circles.
The Price: Its around £20 in the shops. If you buy it online you pay the same price plus postage and packing. Its very reasonable as it lasts for a good couple of months.
The Ingredients: there are only 5 ingredients in this mineral foundation. Its basically made up of zinc and natural colour pigment. Absolutely zero chemicals. Hence the name. you don't have to worry about random ingredients making you have a break out, you don't have to worry about it being tested on animals and you certainly don't have to worry about a horrible, unnatural after smell. Because there isn't one!
Summary: You will save so much money as you don't have to buy a bunch of separate products. It covers every part of your face, wither full coverage or just a ligh touch up simply with the use of different brushes. you feel confident that your face looks covered but natural. A real must have for any lady-what-lunches.
Summary: Flawless coverage, smooth mat finish, SPF15, wont break the bank
