Bare Escentuals id Flawless Application Brush

Advantages: Soft bristles, hard wearing, easy to clean
Disadvantages: Price
Alongside the Bare Escentuals foundation, I also own the flawless foundation brush, for application of previously reviewed foundations! Firstly, I would like to say, that I don't believe that you need to buy the branded brush for each type of make up, and that I believe that generally all brushes are interchangeable (provided they are cleaned).
**The Brush**
The brush comes with a chunky black handle, which means it is easy to grip. The length of the brush is similar to a pencil, and as such I feel that you have greater control over the brush as you are able to grip this will your whole hand. Of course, this can occassionally be a downfall if you are heavy handed, and you can end up with too much product on your face!
The bristles of the brush are about 5 cm (or 2 inches in old school speak) long and a very pale colour. I would imagine this to be a problem if you were using with darker make up on a regular basis as I think it would stain, as it stands I currently use this with the foundation which is a similar shade to the bristles so I don't have this problem!
Looking at the bristles, as they hold their shape well, you would assume these to be hard and to aggravate your skin. I can safely say they do not! The bristles - somehow - are soft against your skin, pick up a moderate amount of product so you are UNLIKELY (though it is not unknown!) to overload your skin with product being heavy handed, and yet are still the same shape as the day I took the little plastic cover off, and that is despite being bashed around in my make up bag!
**Storage**
I would recommend that you have a separate bag for your make up brushes (I do not practice what I preach!) and this bag should be about the size of a pencil case. This will enable you to put the brushes away neatly, without any spillages in your bag meaning you have to go and clean all your brushes, and if your make up bag zips, then the bristles won't get caught in it.
As I've said, I don't practice what I preach, my brush has had bristles caught in the zip, a powder eyeshadow broken over it - yet it is still as good as new, thats pretty hard wearing, though to save yourself the trouble I wouldn't recommend you do that!!
**Price**
The brush is available from all Bare Escentual stockists; a rather heady price of £19, again in my own opinion a LOT to pay for a brush especially when there are others out there at a fraction of the price. Looking on Amazon you can get the brush for £15.90 (plus £3.10 shipping) so again they are going to take a £20 note off you and give you not very much change!! The best value for money to purchase these brushes are to purchase a starter kit, such as the "Get Started Complexion Kit" which retails (at Debenhams again!) for £48 - in this you get 2 flawless brushes, plus a concelear brush, plus your foundations, warmth and concelear - much better value for money than paying £19 for a brush in my opinion!
**Stars and Recommendation**
Yes its a very good brush, but at the end of the day - its JUST a brush! If you are tempted by the brush then I would suggest buying a Getting Started Kit, much better value for money. If you don't want the Getting Started Kit and just want the brush - I'd suggest shopping around, it may be a fantastic brush, but I am sure there are others out there at a fraction of the price that do the job just as well!
Summary: It is just a brush!
