Advantages: Exacting brush

Disadvantages: Expensive to buy on its own

This is a review of the BareMinerals Eyeliner Brush I have been using for a while now. It came in a set of 'Platinum' products from Bare Minerals (also known as Bare Escentuals) which included a set of powder eyeshadows in very glam shades.

Description
The brush has a nice long handle and is teeny tiny at the actual business end. It comes to a fine point with the bristles and enables very precise application of product for eyes.

In use
I have used this mainly with the Bare Minerals eyeshadows dampened down using the lid as a pallette. This way no product is wasted and the carpet is saved. I have also used the brush with a gel eyeliner but I have to admit both the eyeliner (cheap) and brush were not a great success with the latter gel eyeliner so I have stuck to using the wet method of an eyeliner using a powder based eyeshadow.

My thoughts
I like to use eyeshadow as an eyeliner as it gives greater choice of colours to use. I can also get a long lasting result and find that combined with the brush it is a lot gentler on the eye area than a pencil and you can blend more for a subtler effect than using a wet eyeliner pen or product.

Cleaning
The brush needs cleaning regularly to ensure it is hygienic around the eyes and does not stain when using different or darker colours. I have found this easy to do (generally when giving other brushes a wash) using a gentle soap product like our baby bath with plenty of water. I dry the brush flat and it doesn't take long to turn it around.

Price
As I stated above, mine came with a set but I have looked online and it seems that you can pay between £8 and £10 to buy this brush on its own. I do think this is quite expensive but it is a brush that will last a long time and the quality is exceptional.

Final word
I love using this brush and find that it can do a really fine and detailed job that other brushes do not achieve. I have used the brush on many occasions but it is still in the same condition as when it was new. There are no loose hairs on the brush and the end is really soft so nice to use around the eyes. I don't think I can blame the brush for the bad gel eyeliner experience, it would probably work well with a better product. Four out of five dooyoo stars from me.

Summary: Good brand, good brush
