This is a review of the BareMinerals Tinted Mineral Veil Lockable Sifter which I got in a set after Christmas with some other products from the range. I actually purchased the set in tan which was perhaps a little dark for my skin normally but after the summer we've been having it has come in handy as I have gone a little darker on my face (too much paddling pool time!).
What is it
Mineral Veil is a really fine powder that can be used to set your normal make up and give a perfect finish or it can be used on its own just as a very light layer of makeup. I have been using it on its own mainly to save time and give a light look, especially when the weather is so hot and I don't really feel like wearing much make up.
The lockable sifter allows you to just let a little product escape into the lid and you use the traditional swirl tap and buff method to apply the product to your face. It gives an even finish and your skin gets a nice glow. I usually apply a very thin layer of BareMinerals tinted primer to my skin first to even out the appearance then a swirl of the tinted veil. When I have wanted a more made up look, I use the mineral veil over the BareMinerals foundation. It seems a little strange to get such a complete look just from powder but it really does work and is so soft and silky it makes your skin feel really smooth.
I enjoy using this and appreciate the speed of which it can be applied. The only criticism I have is that it doesn't seem to last as long as a wet foundation and powder. The company say that BareMinerals are so kind to your skin that you can even sleep in it and I don't like to do that but when it does come to removal there is usually very little left on my face to remove. The product also has a SPF 15 within it so that is reassuring for a bit of daily sun exposure that you are getting a little protection.
Price and availability
Mineral Veil tends to come in the larger sized pots, like the foundation and is priced around £20 for a 9g pot. Feel Unique are currently selling the sifter pots for £15. If you see some of the non sifter varieties on ebay it is likely to be an older product as they changed the packaging a while ago now. The sifters are a lot better as there is less likelihood of spillage with these and they are good for touch ups on the go.
As you can tell, I like this product. I find it quick to use and get a great finish from it and my skin loves it so I rarely suffer from break outs. It is easily removed and can be used with other branded products like blusher or bronzer if you have a brand you prefer to use you can mix and match. I find whilst it is tinted it is not too tanned although I may not use this in the winter when my skin is paler. My pot will last months as I don't use much each time and don't even wear make up every day of the week although I look a lot better when I do!
