“ Brand: Barielle / Type: Nail Varnish / Subcategory: Night Cream / Suitable for: Nails „
This is a review of a new nail polish by Barielle in the shade 'Night Moves' (5093) I purchased it in a set from TK Maxx. I bought the set on the strength of this silver polish as it spoke to me from the shelf and offered extra sparkle and glitter.
I have never heard of Barielle before but could tell by the packaging that it was a premium brand and was looking forward to trying their polish. A bit of online research shows that they are very experienced in nails, hands and feet and have been 'out there' for more than 30 years. Barielle is against animal testing too.
I found that one coat immediately gave great coverage on the nail and it was not necessary to add a second coat. I always use a base and top coat to protect the nail and increase longevity to the life of my nail varnish but waited a while after applying the colour 'Night Moves' to let it dry a bit. It seemed to take ages to dry and remained tacky for longer than I am used to.
The colour was striking and minimal brush strokes showed on the nail. For a metallic polish this is good. I was a bit disappointed when the wear on the end of the nail became obvious within 24 hours as I like to get 2-3 days out of polish but can't bear to wear it once it starts to chip or wear. The depth of colour was great but I didn't feel that it lasted nearly long enough.
A set of five polishes cost me £9.99 from TK Maxx but I note that the individual polishes can be bought on ebay at around £7 (plus P&P) each so they are more expensive to buy individually. In my set they were all variations on lovely metallic shades and I did like them all so it was quite a bargain to me.
Don't even think about wearing this polish on its own without a top coat as it will not dry quick enough without smudging and the chips begin within an hour. With a top coat this is only slightly improved. I loved the colour and will wear it for special occasions but I think the best place for 'Night Moves' is on toes as it is really sparkly and may last a bit longer on toes. I think these are nice nail polishes but not as good as my favourite brand (Nails Inc). However, they are a lot cheaper than Nails Inc.
A little horsey fact!
Barielle's first product 'nail strengthener cream' was originally developed to condition the hooves of million-dollar thoroughbred racehorses, but proved so effective that it was soon being used to help human nails grow strong and healthy while resisting splits, peels and breaks.
I think you probably get what you pay for in this case and whilst I think the nail varnish is OK and looks good, it is not a brand I will go chasing after in the future.
