In the past couple of years I haven't been wearing that much make up. Due to feeling generally down, being ill (I suffer with a spine problem, an eating disorder and hypothyroidism as well as M.E!) dolling myself hasn't been high on my list of priorities!
However recently I have moved into a nice flat, am near my friends and family and have started to have to attend lots of appointments to do with my health, meetings really do to with my eating disorder clinic and so on. As time has gone on I have felt a bit better in myself and when it came to my make up I had stashed a lot of it was gone off and/or not right things which has given me an excuse to go out and treat myself to a few new bits and bobs which is a huge pleasure to me as I am a qualified beauty therapist as well as being a girly girl!
One of the make up brands I have always thought was great value for money and bang up to date with their cosmetics is Barry M. I have always liked the fact that for not very much money and still great quality I can buy items of make up that are in fashion without blowing too many pennies.
The one thing I needed was a couple of new eyeliners since 'The Body Shop' ones I have been using for a while now seem to be a little dried out and going on clumpy so I decided to get a sensible colour, black and to look for something a bit more daring for a bit of fun to play around with!
I bought this eyeliner in Boots for just £3.99 and I bought it Black though there were 7 colours in total to choose from including purple, blue, gold and so on.
It is what it says it is, a pencil. Its slim and one that you need to sharpen and its black in colour on the outside of it with blue writing on it with a matching plastic pull on/off lid. Down the side of it we are clearly told what it is and who it is by and that it is waterproof and the colour is stated on it along with contact details for Barry M. Nice packaging and its a standard sort of sized eyeliner pencil in its size and simple to sharpen with a good quality pencil sharpener (I use a Bourjois cosmetic sharpener for my make up).
The Pencil....Using It:
I am so happy I bought this one! The colour of it is black but that is actually a really black...black, really jet. It applies on smoothly with me having full control and doesn't go on one bit clumpy, just really smooth and I find it really easy to apply and this claims to be a waterproof eyeliner....and it is and it also claims to stay put for 8 hours....well I have had mine on for 10 hours a day (or night!) and its just as perfect and bold as when I first applied it!
It doesn't claim to be smudge proof but it is rather saying that though I wouldn't go rubbing away merrily but you can touch it and no transfer comes off which is great for me as I'm always messing about with myself!
This doesn't need sharpening very often but its really easy to do so, the wood is smooth when it comes off and not all bitty and so its a very quick and simple job to do.
This has never once agitated my sensitive eyes thankfully and although once its on its on type of thing its simple enough to remove when I want to with my usual make up removing routine.
I think this is a fabulous value for money and quality bound together with plenty of choice of colours. I like the fact that I know its waterproof so if I wanna have a good old cry I can, more importantly with British weather I'm happy to know that if I get stuck in a storm my make up isn't going to run down my face!
Thumbs up once again to this fabulous range of cosmetics and it comes with a high recommendation from me!
Widely available from all good chemists and the likes!

I bought this Bold Eye Liner Pencil because I liked the sound of something that was as precise as a pencil but as smooth at liquid, something that is hard to find with eye pencils. I decided to take a change from my ordinary dark black pencil and try the blue one for a bolder, more interesting look. Of course, this eye pencil is also available in many other shades, if you're interested.
This is a well priced pencil at £3.99 from Boots, around about average price for an eye liner pencil, and obviously you do find more expensive ones out there. Barry M is a very adequately priced brand which I am quite happy to pay for since it has almost always yielded good quality results for me with their products.
The packaging is simple but effective; shaped like a normal eye liner pencil, all black save for the blue writing and end indicating its colour. It also comes with a handy plastic cap to stop the tip from getting squashed and damaged. It is portable and slips easily into my make up bag.
Normally, I pair this with a black eyeliner as I do not think that blue on its own would be too effective; it may seem a bit tacky, and would not emphasise my eyes enough. But with the two bold colours paired together, it makes for an interesting and different effect, which I like very much. The blue colour is nice and bold, keeping with the name of the product itself.
This glides on really well just as promised and feels good, though I'm not sure the application is quite the same as liquid eye liner. On your eyelids, it does not feel too heavy and altogether the application is precise as stated, so you can make fine and accurate lines, and it is comfortable.
I'm not too sure about the waterproof functionality as I don't really like to go swimming or anything like that with make up on, but I have gone outside in light drizzle, and this eye pencil has stayed put. Unfortunately, other than that I have had no other opportunity to test that part out. However, it does stay bold, precise and non smudged for many hours and I don't really have to top it up often, unless it is a very hot day, and I do it just in case.
Altogether, I think that this is a very good bargain for the quality, and it is a handy and bold make up item to keep in your cosmetics bag. The price is good, and the product is good also, so there is not much to complain about this, really. I think that this was a good purchase decision and will be buying more of this, perhaps in different shades, when it runs out, which from the looks of things won't be too soon. I would highly recommend this eye pencil and I would give it 5 out of 5 stars.
I love to wear make up, especially eye make up. I wear eyeliner most days but sometimes I find that a liquid eye liner can be too intense for day wear and so I prefer a pencil liner. When going on a recent holiday to Dubai, I decided to get a waterproof one so that I wouldn't climb out of the swimming pool looking like a panda bear. I settled on the Bold Waterproof Eyeliner by Barry M.
What does the product do?
The product has been designed in order for you to add definition to the eyes. With a formula which promises to be as easy to apply as a liquid eyeliner but with the precision of a pencil, it should leave your eyes looking beautiful. It claims to last for up to eight hours and it has a waterproof formula making it perfect for holidays.
The product comes in a range of different shades which include blues, purples, silvers, golds and blacks. They come with self explanatory names and I chose the rather boring but practical black.
How do you use the product?
You can wear the product alone or with other eye make up. You draw the eye liner along the upper and lower lashes. You can draw dots along the lashes and then join the line if you're having trouble. You need to sharpen this product from time to time to ensure that you can apply the product accurately but make sure that you wipe the bits away with a tissue before using it near the eye area.
Packaging and Price
The product look just like a pencil and the tip of the product and the writing on the side matches the colour of the product inside. It has the eye liner at one side which is protected by a clear cap. You can buy the product for around £4 and it can be purchased from stores like Superdrug, Boots, large supermarkets and also from a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product has a really creamy consistency, just as promised and it does glide easily onto the line without pulling or dragging the skin. The colour is fairly pigmented and comes onto the eye area really nicely with a beautiful dark colour. The shape of the product allows you to accurately apply the product, although sometimes I need to make corrections with a damp cotton bud. The product doesn't come with a blender but the colour isn't too harsh anyway so this isn't a problem for me. The product is gentle on my eyes and it hasn't caused any irritations, even when I am wearing my contact lenses.
The product does define my eyes nicely and make them stand out a lot more. It isn't so intense that it becomes unsuitable for day wear but it is evident and obvious that you are wearing the product. The product has long lasting results day to day, although there has definitely been a bit of fading by the time that I get home from work but there has been no smudging at all which is really good news. When using it in the swimming pool, I did find that it was water proof in the way that I didn't look like a panda bear but it certainly had faded a little bit by the end of the day. The product is easily removed using my usual make up remover.
All in all, the colour of this product is pigmented and it defines my eyes nicely. The creamy texture means that application is quick and easily. It is gentle on the eye and has long lasting results, although I do experience a little fading by the end of the day. It didn't run in the swimming pool but it did fade a bit but even so this will still be accompanying me on my next holiday.

The eyeliner is made by Barry M and comes in 7 different colours including Black, Gold, Silver, Blue, Purple, Gun Metal and Bronze. The waterproof eyeliner claims to be waterproof and long lasting with more than 8 hours wear. This sounded great, so I decided I would purchase the Gun Metal shade which is more of a dark grey shade. I tend to wear darker colours around my eyes so wouldn't have gone for the brighter colours such as the blue or purple anyway. The eyeliner has a slight metallic look to it when looking at it through the clear plastic packaging; in fact they all have a metallic look to them. The metallic look is what attracted me to the eyeliners in the first place when browsing the Barry M range. The eyeliner pencil is black but has a small design on the pencil along with the name and colour of the product. The design on the pencil is actually the colour of the eyeliner so you can easily tell the difference between the eyeliner pencils. The pencil has a clear lid which protects the tip of the eyeliner and stops it from breaking. As this eyeliner had a metallic look I thought it would be perfect for wearing during the Xmas season.

I purchased this from my local Boots store for £3.99 which is a reasonable price for an eyeliner. You can also buy this from Superdrug and direct from the Barry M website.
Using the Product

The eyeliner comes in plastic packaging which is easy to remove. The lid was surprisingly tight on the pencil and it took about 3 attempts to pull the clear plastic lid off before it actually came off also breaking the tip of the pencil. Luckily I had a sharpener to hand so simply sharpened it a little. The pencil was very easy to sharpen and sharpened nicely so the tip of the pencil was at a point again. I got ready to apply the eyeliner and started my lining my lower lash line. As I started doing this I noticed how soft the pencil actually was and minimum effort was needed to apply the product. If I had pushed too hard when applying the eyeliner the tip would have broken off again so I lined my eyes very carefully. The eyeliner is very soft and creamy and the colour glides on so easily. The colour of the eyeliner was a dark grey colour but also had a metallic look to it as well which looked great. After applying the eyeliner I smudged the lines a little so they appeared softer. The eyeliner was easy to smudge using a clean cotton bud. The cotton bud actually smudged the liner rather than removing it which was good. After applying mascara I looked at the results (and took a few pictures). I was pleased with how the eyeliner looked and I loved the metallic look that it had. As the product claims to be long lasting I would check on the eyeliner later on during the day to see how it looked.
I checked my eyeliner in the mirror at work, which was a good 5 hours after I had first applied the eyeliner and was surprised to see that it still looked really good. The eyeliner hasn't faded or smudged and there was still plenty of it around my eyes and it still had the lovely metallic effect to it as well. I had so far experienced no irritation to my eyes such as dryness or soreness. I was very impressed at how good my eyes still looked. As it still looked really good, I decided I would check on it again when I got home in the evening after work which would be a good 10hrs since I had first applied the product. I checked my make up when I got home from work and although the colour had worn off a tiny bit in some areas which wasn't really that noticeable there was still plenty of eye-liner lining my eyes and it still looked metallic and slightly glittery when caught in the right lighting. I was really impressed with how long the eyeliner lasted without wearing off, flaking away or smudging. When watching an emotional programme on the TV my eye watered a little and I did shed a tear or two but not even this made the eyeliner smudge, run or wear off any quicker. I use Simple facial wipes to remove make up along with some other facial products such as cleansing lotion and then toner. The facial wipes did a good job at removing the eyeliner, although I did have to rub slightly more than I normally would. My eyes didn't feel dry or irritated after removing the eyeliner and after using the wipe there wasn't any trace of this around my eyes.

I was really, really impressed with this eyeliner and how much it lived up to its claims. The eyeliner stayed put all day when applying the eyeliner first thing in the morning and it didn't smudge, flake off or even ear off much during the day. I love the metallic look to the eyeliner and love the fact that's it's also slightly glittery which makes it perfect for the party season. I suffer from sensitive eyes and this didn't cause any irritation to them such as dryness or making them sore. Although I had to rub at my eyes a little more to remove the eyeliner this wasn't much of a problem as I just used gentle wipes and it soon came off. After using this product I am definitely tempted to purchase the black eyeliner in this range as I don't have to worry about re-applying the product during the day or when I'm out on the town. The only bad thing I can say about this product is that the pencil is very, very soft so can break really easily, which is why you don't need to apply much pressure when applying it. I've found that if I keep the eyeliner in the fridge it hardens the pencil up a little and it isn't so soft which causes it to break less. Overall fantastic eyeliner that lives up to its claims but I am taking one star off due to how soft the eyeliner pencil actually is.
