Barry M dazzle dusts are one of the most versatile things you could have in your make up bag and something that will never go out of fashion in my opinion. They come in a little glass pot with a black screw on lid which means they’re sturdy enough not to break in your make up bag. The pots themselves are quite poorly designed and don’t really reflect the sheer genius of these dazzle dusts, the black lid simply has the product brand and name wrote on it while the bottom of the pot has a clear sticker with the particular shade on.

They come in a range of bright and metallic colours; in fact there are over 60 available at the moment so there’s sure to be something for everyone. There are more subtle colours like light blue and pale gold as well as much more shocking colours including bright purples and reds. There should be a shade to suit everyone, from the bold to the meek. The actual dust is like a very thin powder which is quite compact in the actual pot that spreads onto the skin really easily and smoothly.

As I mentioned they’ve got several uses including:

* Body art – possibly one of the most bizarre uses of these dusts but in the past myself and my friends have found they’re brilliant for fancy dress or when you want to do something a little bit different, we recently went out with butterflies on our cheeks!

* Eye liner – simply dot around your lower, and upper lid if you want to, using a thin make up brush to give a sparkly effect to your eyes. You may find you need to wet a small cotton bud and gently wipe away the excess so you don’t get too thick lines.

* Eye shadow – if you want to go for a bit more of a bold look then you can apply the dusts as you would eye shadow over all your eye lid. You may find it’s best to use the dust quite sparingly and then mix in with a less severe colour to give a more natural effect.

* Lip gloss – the Barry M website suggests you mix a bit of the dust with Vaseline and apply as a lip gloss, I’m not sure how many colours this would work with and I’ve yet to try this particular look, again it might work quite well for fancy dress.

I've been using the Barry M Dazzle Dusts for about a year now and in that time have managed to get to grips with them quite well...

Advantages: As a beauty product I've found that they're one of the post versatile products I own (right up there with vaseline!) and that once you apply the dust it does seem to last around 6-8 hours without frequent re-application.

Disadvantages - On the downside I have found the dusts quite messy, you must open the jar very gently as I often encounter spillages. When applying the product it's very easy to overload the make up brush as well so application is quite tricky.

They’re available to buy online and also in certain shops although sadly not in Boots, they seem to retail at around £3.49 - £4.99 depending where you go, the Barry M website sells them for £4.50 each. The best thing to do is try out the post code facility on the website which you need to input your post code into to find where your nearest stockers are. I think the pots are a good investment as I’ve got about 5 different colours and tend to use them all at least a couple of times a month for nights out, I’ve had them since last summer and wouldn’t even say I was halfway through the pot. Using the dazzle dust on a daily basis as an eye liner or shadow I easily reckon it’d last you about 5-6 months.
