Barry M Dazzle Dust Eyeshadow Pots
Advantages: Very compact - Lasts all day - Decent price - THE POTS LAST FOREVER
Disadvantages: Can be messy - Due to small size can be lost very easily!
I have been using Barry M products for close to 10 years and in my opinion and that of others the Dazzle Dust pots are the product which put the Barry M brand out there... The display shelves were mainly just the dust pots but these days there is a full range from Barry M which include blusher (which I am a huge fan of) which include make up brushes, lipstick, nail varnish and more!
Over the years I have owned many dazzle dust pots in every colour of the rainbow that you can think of. In the range there is something for everyone - from young girls who want a really dramatic eye colour on their lids to the more mature lady who requires a more sutle look. Personally I love the bland colour shades but for the more special occasion there is more outstanding glitter pots - which I also like to endulge into for nights out. At present there is 76 shades available on the Barry M website - just to give you an idea on how much choice there is... although stores may not stock this many. As well as the website the Dazzle Pots are available in many high street shops such as Superdrug - which is where I have always bought mine from.
The dust is very light and very easy to apply - so does not feel heavy and uncomfortable on your eyelids. I prefer to apply the product using my fingers but where you are mixing and matching the shades to give combined colour tones (using more than one dust colour to create a more dramatic look) you would be better using a thin make up brush. Another way to create a different look and tones is to use a slightly damp make up brush to create more tones. There are many tutorials online on how to create great looks using more than one dust colour and I like to view these on YouTube as the better ones seem to be on there.
The tubs come in a tiny glass pot with a screw top black lid displaying the brand and product name in white font. The tubs are transparent so to get a better idea on the shade you are looking at buying rather than using the in store colour chart (where colours can vary) its very easy to see the colour before you buy.
Unlike a lot of other eye shadow powders and face powders there is no plastic shield inside where you can tap out the powder so you need to be very careful with application or it can cause a mess on your floor - something I am an expert in! Another gripe for me with this powder is how depending on the shade you are using, if applied using a finger it can be very stubborn to get the colour off your skin after use if you have applied a few coats using the same finger. The powder does stay put on your face and in my experiances it lasts well into a night out with only a very minor top up needed. For removal you just need some really decent eye make up removal wipes as some colours can be stubborn to completely remove. I have also been known to use some of these dazzle pot dusts on my 6 year old daughter for special occasions like school plays and birthday parties - she doesn't have sensitive skin as such but it didn't cause any reactions on her skin.
The things I love most about the dazzle pots are obviously the massive choice of colours but I also love how compact this is and fits snuggly into a handbag / make up bag... However this can work against you as due to the small size over the years I have had many pots roll off and go missing. A little really goes a long way with these pots they do last forever as you don't need to use a lot of product.
The price on these pots are not bad at all when you consider how long they last - I have had some pots last me years and not even half way down to the bottom yet and as far as I know there is no best before date for these. Barry M website sells these for £4.59 at the time of writing this review and Superdrug do sell at around the same price... However keep looking in the store as they often do special offers on this brand.
In all I would recommend this to everyone - long lasting, decent priced and very effective make up.
Summary: Best eye shadow pots there is!
