I had seen a picture in a magazine with a model wearing glitter eyeliner and I thought it looked so beautiful and I was desperate to recreate it at home. I ended up buying some Urban Decay glitter eyeliner and it was really good but it was also expensive so I didn’t want to try other colours.
I saw that Barry M did a glitter eyeliner and because they were so cheap it meant I could buy a couple of them to experiment a bit with them.
The colour range was good and I got a couple of really nice colours including a gold which I used a few times as I really liked it.
I was worried that I would end up looking like a drag queen with glitter eyeliner but the effect was so much more subtle than I thought it would be and this is exactly what I wanted. It just outlined my eyes and gave them a sparkle that I couldn’t have got with eyeshadow or a normal eyeliner.
The glitter eyeliner really went well with my eye shadow and complimented it rather than fighting against it and the overall look was beautiful and nicer than I had even hoped for.
When it was on my eyes it stayed put all night and didn’t smudge or end up going all over my eyes. It came off ok but I did have to do a bit more rubbing than I am used to to remove it all completely.
I tried to buy some of these a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t find them anywhere which was dissapointing as this is the time of year when they would be absolutely perfect to wear. I just hope they haven’t been discontinued because I really liked them.
I like the Barry M brand, and I am always keen to try out more of their products. One product they sold that caught my eyes was the Barry M Glitter Liquid Eyeliner, which just looked so pretty and sparkly displayed in bright lights. However, I am not that keen on using sparkly liners; they look pretty but I am always scared I will end up looking like a drag queen after I apply it. However, the shimmer inside these glitter liners seemed quite fine aand more subtle than other glitter liners I have seen and used before. I decided that I just had to give these a go.
The glitter liner cost me £4.99 from Boots, which I thought was an OK price to pay for such a product- I mean, obviously there are cheaper alternatives, but from a good brand like Barry M, I find this to be averagely priced. However, you pay this price for a tiny little bottle of glitter liquid eyeliner which seems like it will not last you for too long. Don't worry though, there is more liner in there than meets the eye initially and you really don't need too much per application.
The glitter liner is packaged in a rectangular looking tube that looks quite tiny, and it is very portable (though also very easy to lose). The lower section is the main body, made of a clear plastic that catches the light and shows you the colour of the glitter liner. The cap is black, and it is fairly simple to twist this off to reveal the liner brush, which is quite thin and short with a pointed tip for easier application. It is easy to use this to swipe some onto your eye lids quite comfortably. The design is quite light though I do seem to find that a cylindral tube would have been more comfortable to hold and use.
The texture is quite nice, not too sticky and harsh like glitter glue, and the liquid is not too gloopy. It feels quite pleasant when applied, a little bit cool at first before it dries. The texture seems much the same as a regular liquid eye liner, except perhaps it is a little more like gel and it has fine pieces of glitter in it. It does not dry uncomfortably, but rather nicely, and it is not so heavy that it weighs down my eye lids unpleasantly.
I wanted something a little more subtle than the bright and colourful shades, as subtle as you can get with a glitter liquid eyeliner, anyway. I ended up choosing the shade in Black (13), a black liner with hints of glitter in it. The main colours of glitter that I can see are blue and green, but I do see hints of colours like red and purple. It looks gorgeous on, rather subtle and shimmery. If layered on lightly, you can make your eye lids slightly sparkled. It can look like black liquid eyeliner with glitter added over the top which is a nice effect.
The staying power is very good; it lasts for a few hours at least in perfect condition, and does not smudge everywhere unless it is a really, really hot day. It can make your eye lids look superb for all night long. Under the right light, this can look really nice and subtle and beautiful at the same time.
Overall, I highly recommend this glitter liquid eyeliner as it does a great job and it is better than many of the other glitter liners I have come across so far. The glitter is not too flashy; instead it is very fine which makes for an even nicer effect. The price is OK, but I do think it is worth the money paid and I would give this 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars.
Barry M is one of my favourite cosmetic brands, and as a result I own most of the products, including the liquid eyeliner's - both the plain and the glittery. This review is of the glitter liquid eyeliner, which I have owned for around 6 months now. I bought mine directly from the official Barry M website, but it is also available in shops such as Boots and is available widely online from Amazon, Asos, Very etc. Prices for brand new ones range from £4-£6, and second hand (but not necessarily used) ones can be snapped up on eBay auctions for as little as 99p excluding postage.
The Barry M site charges £4.99 per glitter liquid eyeliner, which I do think is a little steep, but because I only use this on certain occaisons it lasts me for ages, however if I was a regular user of this it could get expensive at 5 quid a pop!
I initially bought this for a fancy dress party, which was eighties themed, and I was spoilt for choice colour wise - there are lots available to suit everyone - black, blue, purple, pink, silver, gold and green. I got the green and purple as I wanted it to be very bold and prominant, however I have since got a black one for nights out when I want to get glammed up but I would never wear a green or purple eyeliner to clubbing unless it was a themed club, so I got the black as it is not too over the top.
The eyeliner comes in a transparent glass/plastic tube which is rectangular shaped, the glittery eyeliner is visible through the tube which is handy as you can see the excact shade rather than just guessing. The bottom of the tube has the shade number on it (eg 14, 15 etc) and on the side of the tube it has the product and brand name on it in pretty gold writing. The black lid screws off easily and has the applicator on the end like most liquid eyeliners.
It is easy to control the applicator - it is just the right size, not too big or too small, and the applicator handle is just the right shape so it is easy to keep a grip. I only usually apply a thin layer of it which is enough to make my eyes look glammed up. I usually use eyeliner pens so thought I would struggle with the application but it was really easy. I was a bit concerned that because it was a liquid eyeliner it might run or smudge easily but it didn't at all.
The eyeliner is nice and sparkly, it's very noticeable and the glitter is really pretty, it definetly looks really glamerous. The black has got silver and blue bits of glitter and my purple one has dark pink and light purple bits of glitter, while the green has really pretty shades of light and dark green glitter. The colour is well pigmented for a sheer eyeliner, and it looks better then I expected. I usually apply 3 or 4 layers to get it a little more bolder, but because it's sheer but pigmented at the same time it can be quite discreet with just one layer.
I thought that this would look a bit tacky and childish, but it looks suprisingly good! The eyeliner is nice and lightweight unlike alot of liquid eyeliners and drys quickly. It stays in place really well so does not need topping up every few hours, but is easy to remove at the end of a night out with a bit of makeup remover or a damp cotton pad, it comes off with ease and doesn't leave any trace of glitter behind.
Because of the bold colours (even the black is really noticeable) and because the eyeliner is so glittery I would never dream of wearing it during the day when wearing casual clothes or for university etc - I use these on special occassions such as nights out and fancy dress parties only. I have had my tube for a while now and it has not dried up or anything and is lasting well and for the price I paid I am happy with how much use I am getting out of it.
These eyeliners are really gentle and don't irritate my eyes at all like I thought they might.
Overall I like this and would reccomend it if you have a special ocassion coming up and want to experiment with a more bold and girly look.
I have this product in the darkest colour. It's black, with blue and silver glitter flickering all through it. This gives a lovely effect when you put it on your eyes. Although it is very subtle, when you blink and in certain lights your eyes shimmer and glitter in a really beautiful way.
The packaging is fairly small, with a brush like applicator for the eyeliner. I personally prefer a felt tip end when using liquid eyeliner, so this is a small disadvantage to the product in my opinion. I also would not use this product on its own - it isn't heavy or strong enough to be an eyeliner on its own. However, I use it over my plain black liquid eyeliner on nights out or just when I want to feel a bit more glamorous and pretty! It certainly works well over other eyeliners and on the lower lash, though as I said I would definitely not use it on its own, even without eyeshadow. It tends to lose some of its impact when it dries, leaving just little bits of glitter.
As a Barry M fan, I do like this product and would buy it again. However there are certainly some disadvantages to the product and I wouldn't say it was my favourite from the Barry M range.
My two secret ingredients to jazz myself up for the party season and to really put me in the mood when going out, is to apply either Urban Decay's range of metal eyeliner or with Barry M's Glitter Liquid Eyeliner. Both are something that really puts me in the mood for going out because it makes me feel sparkly in a non-tacky way! It is less subtle that the Urban Decay metal range and so I would be more likely to wear the Barry M range when I was going out for a fun day out or meeting someone for lunch.
There are a whole range of colours, but the two colours I possess within this range are "emerald green" and "white gold" - both of which really compliment my green eye colour. There is also turquoise, bronze, gold, black and dark pink within the range. Each eyeliner comes in a small transparent glass tube that contains 5mls of the eyeliner and costs in the region of £5 from Amazon - or slightly more from Boots.
You are able to see the colour of the eyeliner through the glass tube - although this can be a little misleading as sometimes it can look like there is lots left in the bottle but because it is stuck around the edges of the bottle, it is not possible to get this bit out and so it might look like you don't need any more while in actual fact you're out of it! On the top of the glass tube is a black screw lid which has a brush applicator attached to it. This crush is very thin and, as such, it is great for a smooth and neat application of the liquid liner to the eyelid. Even when this brush has been used many times, I find that the brush does not become worn and remains as good as new.
Applying the eye liner is easy, although sometimes it is necessary to apply more than one coat depending on how thick you want the line to be - or alternatively you can use one of your own brushes if you want a thicker line. The eye liner is not only coloured but also has a subtle sparkle - which looks completely great. What I particularly like about this product is that it stays put. It is waterproof, never runs, and does not stray from the neat thin line until you remove it with make-up remover.
I cannot recommend this product highly enough!
***GLITTER LIQUID EYELINER***
This easy to use eye-liner is made by Barry M and comes in 7 different colours including blue, silver, pink, black, green gold and lavender. These liquid eye-liners are quite new to the Barry M range, after being improved and they'll make your eyes sparkle with the choice of the 7 sparkly glittery shades. The eye-liner comes in a glass tube with a black screw lid which has a small brush on the end on which to apply the eye-liner with. When you unscrew the lid and take the brush out you can see how sparkly the eye-liner really is. The brush tip is quite small for accuracy and to make it easier when applying the product.
I purchased this from boots for £4.99 and all colours were available. This is also available to buy from Superdrug and from www.barrym.com for around the same price. How-ever sometimes Boots or Superdrug have the Barry M products on 3 for 2 so it's worth checking out different offer's in the stores.
***APPLYING/USING THE PRODUCT***
I purchased the black and the blue eye-liner to try out. I haven't yet used the blue but I have used the black. I actually used a pencil eyeliner to line my eye-lids along my lash line as I wanted the eye-liner to look quite dark and I didn't think the glitter eye-liner by itself would achieve this. I shook the eye-liner up and unscrewed the cap. Looking at the brush it didn't look as though there was much product on the brush but I started to apply the product. The eye-liner does glide on easily how-ever I had to keep dipping the brush into the tube as you don't seem to get much of the product on the brush. I did have to go over the eye-liner again to make it a bit more sparkly and noticeable. The eye-liner did dry very quickly and didn't wear off through-out the night so there was no need to re-apply this. It was kind to my eyes and didn't irritate them or make them sore.
When removing the product with a facial/make up remover wipe the product came off very easily. I have used a glitter liquid eye-liner before and I remember it drying and when I went to take it off the eye-liner was slightly hard and crusty which did make my eye's sore when trying to get it off. The Barry M eye-liner is totally different and wipes off with minimum effort.
I love this glitter eye-liner as it's easy to apply and looks great, especially when it's the Christmas/party season. The black is great if you don't want to go for brighter colours which will stand out more. I picked up the blue colour because it was a bright electric blue and I just love this colour. It's a shame that this product doesn't coat the brush very well and that you have to keep dipping the brush into the tube to get more product out which I had to do 3-4 times for each eye. The eye-liner is quite pricey and there are probably cheaper glitter eye-liners out there, how-ever as I know this one is kind to my eyes and looks great I'll be using this again and when I run out I'll be buying another tube of this sparkly liquid eye-liner. I would highly recommend other's to gibe this product a try, especially if you love Barry M products and love experimenting with different make up and looks.
(review will also appear on ciao)
I often receive a make-up bag full of goodies from my mum for Christmas, included in the one I had last year was a few Barry M products.
I got green and silver glitter liquid eyeliners. I hadn't used them before so was eager to give them a try.
You get a little clear rectangular tube with a black lid which holds the fine eyeliner brush. These eyeliners are pretty small at just 5ml and they cost £4.95 each.
They are packed full of the glitter liquid and the silver one looks almost like it's filled with foil!
Upon removing the brush from the tube, I found that it had picked up hardly any product and needed to dip it back in at least 5 times maybe more to get a good even line of colour.
It's very fine glitter but does give a glam shine to your eyes. It has great staying power and will last an evening of drinking and dancing with ease.
It's also very easy to remove with soapy water. The bases of these glitters I have found to be clear so there don't leave any unsightly marks on your eyes.
Although you do need to layer it, it does give a nice shine and has great lasting effects.
Available in 7 different colours and priced at £4.95, can be bought from Superdrug, amazon or directly form the Barry M website.
I previoulsy did a review on the 'Collection 2000 Glam crystals' version of this, so decided to also review this one.
This one is made by Barry M and costs £4.99, there are a selection of colours avaliable, them being, red, copper, gold, green, whitey silver, blue and plain silver.
They are avaliable in Boots (where you would recieve 16 advantage card points) and Superdrug. You can also purchase from ebay and amazon, however often have to pay postage, also the Barry M online store.
They are in a clear square tube so you can see the colour of the eyeliner, with a black lid. I personally got the green, which isn't a bright green and is actually quite a darkish green.
Like many of the other glitter liquid eyeliners it has a bristle brush to apply it with, however, I did find that is didn't pick up much of the glitter and did have to be contiunally dunked back in, in order to get the glitter on the brush.
To apply it did not feel scratchy, like you would expect the liquid glitter to, just a little cold. It is hard to do one smooth, stroke with this as I have said, it is hard to get the glitter so it make take you 3 or 4 'steps' to get from one corner of the eye to the other.
It take a slighlty longer time than others I have used to dry, it took between 5 and 7 minutes. After this is looked lovely and sparkly and was great for a night out. It was a very dark emerald green colour eyeliner with lots of green pieces of glitter in it. Though it was a 'glitter eyeliner' it wasn't too glittery, which I liked as I thought that this may make the eyeliner look young and be too sparkly. It also lasted all day / night depending on when I wore it, meaning there was no need to reapply!
Some glitter eyeliners I have used in the past have also 'cracked' or 'flaked' during the day which makes the eyeliner seem 'bobbly' and uneven, though again this was not the case with this eyeliner as it did stay in place all day!
The only way in which I can fault this eyeliner (other than applying in 'steps') is that it can be quite stubborn to remove. Due to the glitter pieces in the eyeliner I can also find this quite 'scratchy' on the eyeliner and some of the pieces of glitter can get into the eye and irritate that area.
Nice eyeliner altogether!
Barry M Glitter Liquid Eyeliner
I love sparky make-up and this eyeliner drew my attention. Plus is was quite cheap from Superdrug so I just had to have it. I bought the silver one and my plan was to apply in to the top of my eye - along the lash line. The product, like most from Barry M are very basic in designed with a sqaure tube and lid.
The liner is quite a thick clear liquid with flecks of silver 'Glitter' in it. When I first tried it I wasn't too impressed as it was quite difficult to apply and look very sparse on my lids. The next time I tried I have a little more practice and came out a little better. Your really need to have a lot of the glitter on the brush in order for it to come out on your skin which means you have to keep dipping the brush back in and out of the tube. Apart from that I would recommend this product for speacial nights out. Plus it really is good value for money.
Occasionally, you'll come across a brand that you know is special. Barry M is one of those brands. You know they don't care if they're different, and this thought is epitomized in the glitter eyeliner range.
Perfect for a fancy night out or clubbing or even just to glam up your daywear a bit, it is easy to apply and lasts for ages. The glitter particles are packed into the tube so that it gives a brilliant sparkling effect. You will definitely stand out from the crowd with this one.
The first time I wore it I got a friend to apply it for me and I have to admit, it was a bit uncomfortable waiting for it to dry but once it was set then it was in place for the whole day. It even withstood our test of 80s style dance aerobics (we had an 80s themed day at school once - FAME!)
Any colour that you pick will bring out your eyes beautifully because of the sparkles - just make sure you don't go too heavy on the lip make up or you'll look like you're trying to be in a musical or something!
I bought one of these for a party about 6 months ago and really love it! I found it soooo simply to apply and looked really great proffesional when on! It really brightens up your eyes and really sparkles when it catches the light.
The product itself is a Barry M liquid glitter eyeliner with a brush applicator in the lid.
In the range there are a few different colours including: silver, red, green, bronze, gold, pink and a clear irredescant colour. There are lots of other products in the actual 'Barry M' range, including mascara, nail varnish, dazzle dust, eyeliner and more, but in the liquid glitter eyeliner the above are the only colours they do. However there are sometimes 'limited edition' ones on offer that are avlaliable in other colours.
The price for each tube is normally priced at £4.95, sometimes there are offers on though, including 3 for 3 and buy one get one half price. Also if you shop around I am sure you can find this product cheaper. Also if you look in other make up brands then you'll see a similar product in 'Collection 2000' make for just £2.99.
This is avaliable in Boots and Superdrug. I tend to buy most of my make up from Boots now though as I find that they often have good offers on the products I like and use and also I enjoy collecting my Boots Advantage cards points to save up and buy a new piece of make up or similar! You are also able to buy them off of Amazon and at Ebay, where you may be able to find a better price, but don't forget-you do have to pay postage and this does add to the amount you pay!
I always find that the packaging is the down side to Barry M products and never seems all that appealing. It is a very simple clear plastic tube, so you can see through to see the colour of the eyeliner. It also has BARRY M on it in black. It is complete with a plain black lid, nothing really to look at, but it does the job!
My experience with the item has really been great, from the moment you unscrew the lid to reveal the brush you can tell that it is a high quality product.
I thought that it'd be quite itchy and gritty to apply because of it being glittery, but because of the liquid form and it being a bit watery it was nice and smooth to apply and didn't irritate the eyes. Also because of the brush it is very easy to apply and it kind of adapts to the shapen of your eye. Also because the brush is quite thin it is easier to get into the corners of your eyes!
I found that I only need to apply one layer/stroke to my eye for it to look great, also I found that it didn't look thick and cloggy doing it this way and looked nice and neat, however I did have to put the brush back into the tube on one or two occasions to make sure that it went from one corner of my eye to the other.
Once applied it sets hard in a minute or two and once it is hard you do not need to reapply as it stays on through the tests of time!
All round fab product and would highly reccomend!
Unlike most liquid eyeliners, Barry M's are glitter eyeliners.
Barry M claims to have the most colourful make-up on the market and after searching for some colourful make-up for nights out, I have had to draw the same conclusion. There are 7 super shiny eyeliner colours, these are;
- Dark Pink
- Emerald Green
- White Gold
Out of these, there are 3 new colours - Bronze, Dark Pink& Emerald Green. Like most Barry M products, these eyeliners are still quite expensive. They come in at roughly £5. Which to some wouldn't see that much! but to me, is fairly expensive.
I found that when using the product, they apply in an easy, clear way. It's pretty simple to put them on and they are great for any type of outing, especially if you're trying to doll yourself up for a night out on the town!
I found, however, that the product is a bit sticky. It may have been the couple of bottles that I had, but I found that they were pretty thick and were fairly difficult to take off. I could try and wash the eyeliner off with make-up removal wipes but didn't really have much luck, it seemed that sometimes I had to peel the glitter eyeliner off which was sometimes quite irritating.
Despite the flaw that I found when using the eyeliner, I did think that the colours were beautiful and they generally made for a great look! Well worth forking out £5 for!
Let your eyes sparkle with intensity!
