Advantages: Huge range of shades, Nice packaging.

Disadvantages: Didn't apply smoothly, Product stuck to dry patches on lips.

I've never really been attracted to Barry M products to be honest, they always seemed overly bright and tacky and just generally didn't appeal to me. The few products I had tried (namely the Dazzle Dusts) hadn't seemed too great a quality to me and seemed a little sheer and chalky for my tastes, so it was against my better judgement when I picked up a couple of their "Lip Paints" along with the rest of my shopping.

With over 30 shades available in store (a little less if buying online) the lip paints claim to have a soft, smooth texture that is packed full of natural moisturising ingredients that 'help them glide on and stay comfortable to wear for hours'. Ranging from soft, shimmery shades to bright, opaque pastels and everything in between there is definately going to be a shade that suits not only your skintone but your tastes too :-)
They retail for £4.25 each which is the type of price I would expect to pay for a drugstore lipstick, so no problems with that aspect. They are packaged in short, black, square tubes that have a slight 'soft / velvety' texture (like NARS cosmetics, if you are familar with those) and a simple click-on lid which has Barry M wrote in gold on the top. Nice, simple and stylish so no complaints there either!

However, thats where the praises stop unfortunately. I really did not get on well with the three shades I bought. They seemed plastic-y with an almost gel-like texture that definately does not glide onto my lips. It feels as if I'm rubbing a candle on my lips! Very little colour payoff in my opinion and what little colour does transfer onto my lips seems to stick to any dry patches instantly highlighting them and other problem areas. They have a strange taste too, almost like a wax crayon that lingers for a while after I apply.
Once applied I found that they didn't wear very well, even if I wore them over a base, and I didn't really notice any moisturising properties either.

Perhaps I got unlucky with the three shades I chose and the others are not so bad? I'm sure I have heard other people raving about these lip paints, but they are definately not for me. I'd much rather pay six pounds more and go for a MAC lipstick whose quality I can trust. Nothing against the brand, it just doesn't seem to work for me :-( Though I have go a baby pink lip liner from Barry M which I adore so I guess it just varies throughout the range.

Overall, I wouldn't personally recommend this product. I think there are much better products available for the same type of price from Maybelline or Rimmel, or for a few pounds more, from GOSH Cosmetics too.

Summary: Won't be repurchasing.
