~* Why I Bought It *~
I have got two Barry M lipsticks which I bought last year after seeing them on offer. I bought them mainly because they're a lot cheaper than MAC and Bobbi Brown lipsticks but also because I liked the cute, compact and simple packaging design.
~* Price *~
These lipsticks are very affordable and the retail price ranges between £4 and £5 on average. I got my two on offer and paid around £3 for each lipstick if I remember correctly - bargain!
~* My Opinion *~
I don't wear lipstick very often but when I saw how cheap the lipsticks were I thought that it would definitely be worth buying one to try. There were so many different colours though that I ended up buying two as there were two shades in particular that I knew would really suit me. I have shade 121 which is a bright, pillar box red and shade 147 which is peachy pink.
Nudes don't suit me at all with me being pale, and I assumed that shade 147 would be a nude but when I swatched it I really liked the shade and it was a little darker than I had expected so I bought it in the end! There are around 15 other shades to choose from so there's lots of choice and a colour to suit everyone! A few of the colours that I saw while looking at them all included green (oh my gosh, haha) and black, which I thought was unusual and I haven't seen many other brands which sell green and black lippy!
The design of the lipstick tubes is really nice and they come in very neat little rectangular tubes which are black. The lid pulls off and to get the lipstick out of the casing you just need to twist the top part of the tube. The lipstick is slanted and has got a hard, smooth consistency which isn't too waxy so it doesn't feel like it is going to snap it half or anything while I apply it to my lips, but it isn't too hard either and it spreads onto my lips really easily.
The lipstick does feel a bit waxy once it is on my lips but as long as I don't apply too much it doesn't have that heavy feeling that some lipsticks can do and it feels surprisingly moisturising and my lips never feel dried out once I've applied it and they're never dry once I take it off either. It doesn't highlight any lines in my lips and the finish is smooth with no lumps of was or residue left on my lips.
The colour payoff is brilliant and I don't need to use loads of it to get the colour to show up - one to two coats is more than enough and I don't feel the need to blot afterwards as it isn't a thick or greasy lipstick. The two shades that I have are matte, but my lips don't look dry or anything with the lipstick on and I don't feel the need to apply lipgloss over the top as the shades aren't dull, they're nice and bright.
The lipstick has very good lasting power and I find that it lasts for around eight hours before the colour doesn't look as bright, but it never goes patchy/looks old and as long as I re-apply when needed (usually only after eating or drinking) it will easily last all day long. It is transferable though so it can make quite a mess if I am eating or drinking.
~ All in All ~
A cheap lipstick with great colour payoff and a lovely formula which looks nice on my lips and doesn't dry them out. I'd definitely recommend the Barry M lip paints and next time I spot them in the shops I am going to be buying a couple more shades.
Summary: Really good value!
