Advantages: Unusual and fun to use
Disadvantages: Not really a polish for day to day wear
I absolutely adore Barry M nail varnishes. They are my favourite brand of nail paint at the minute and I love all the effects that you can do with them and of course their reasonable price doesn't hurt either.
The magnetic varnish is a little bit strange and unusual but actually works quite well. Each nail varnish has a magnet built in to the lid and what you do is paint your nails with the varnish then hover the magnet over the varnish to create shapes and designs.
It sounds more complicated than it actually is as when you are actually doing it, it is really easy and stress free. The only thing that takes a little getting used to is that you need to get the magnet quite close to the varnish and the first couple of times I did it I ended up touching the varnish and making a mess of it.
You also need to make sure that once you have a base coat as otherwise the pattern will show through to the nail underneath and not look as nice. Also you need to use the magnet when the nail varnish is still wet so you need to do it pretty much instantly after painting the nail.
The effects are quite cool and although it isn't something that I would personally wear on a daily basis I do quite like to do it for a bit of fun occasionally if I am going anywhere. It is a fun effect but it isn't just a gimmick as it actually does work and it looks more professional than it might sound like it will.
The colours in the range aren't as extensive as some of the other Barry M polishes but they have a good selection still and like all the other Barry M polishes they are lovely and vibrant and look shiny and bright on the nails.
They are also really hard wearing which is good if you are a bit lazy and don't remove the polish every day. I do tend to remove mine every night as I like to wear different colours every day but on days when I'm not in work or just lounging about the house I can leave them on a few days and know that if I need to pop to the supermarket I won't be embarrassed by horrible chipped polish.
The magnetic polish is a little bit more expensive than the plain colours as you would probably expect but they are still only £4.99 and quite often on 3 for 2 promotions so I personally think they are still really good value for money.
Summary: Fun and unusual
