Advantages: A nice, easy to use liploss.
Disadvantages: Smell and taste isn't all that great but oh well that's the price you have to pay lol
Again after some reviews on Barry M I've read on here I've been looking at the range on a regular basis. I wanted to buy some of them gorgeous glittery eye dusts but to me they look a bit tricky to use and I know I don't have a steady hand and besides that I got some of those kinds of products already by some offering by Bourjois and a couple of gorgeous ones by collection 2000 I've purchased recently so in a way I thought I should purchase something more useful! If you've ever read any of my make up reviews you will know by now that I'm not really enthralled by lip-glosses or lipsticks and usually after writing about them I bin them as I come to realise how rubbish they really are!
So off I went to Superdrug in my quest where I'm greeted by a wonderful looking Barry M stand. The colours are bright, young and vibrant! So I hunt through till I spot what appeals to me and it's this....
Barry M 'Glossy Tubes' Super Shiny Lip Gloss.
Packaging....
9ml clear, plastic recyclable tube which has a clear screw on/off lid that is situated at the bottom. The 'applicator' is simply a slant with a hole in it attached to the tube. The tube itself has gold writing on it telling me what the product is and who it is by and on the back gives me Barry M's website.... www.barrym.com and gives me contact details to get in touch with the company and tells me the colour which in my case is 'FAB 1'. Through the packaging I can see my colour which is a shimmery coral colour.
The thing that stuck me about this product is what a decent size it is and that the packaging is quite nice and simple!
Verdict....
Well as I've already mentioned I'm not a fan of lipgloss but I do try with them! I want to like it! For me I want to use it on top of my Lipfinity that I always use instead of the clear top coat I get with it. I find Lipfinity can be drying and because its an ink it is quite harsh. Now don't get me wrong I like that look but when I go out for the evening I'd like something not too gluey and/or gunky just to put over the top to give a little bit of shimmer and gloss and also to stop any cracking and drying that my Lipfinity can at times give me.
Personally I'd never use a gloss on its own as it doesn't define and shape my lips or give enough, long lasting deep colour and also I wouldn't try it over the top of lipstick cos lipstick feels greasy to me on its own without this stuff as well, this is a problem when you use Lipfinity for so long!
So I have been using it over my Lipfinity! It comes out of the tube well and has a nice even thickish consistency. In the tube it looks like jelly but it doesn't come out that way. It isn't runny and it isn't so thick that it's gunky. It glides on very well and the slanted applicator inside the tube is just the right size meaning its not too big that a blob comes out and goes over your lip outline (this has happened to me before!). The taste is like watermelon and it smells of watermelon which to be honest doesn't 'rock my world'. It's not foul but I'm not keen on it. However that aside it's a really nice lipgloss. It is a little bit greasy but then to a none conventional lipstick wearer it would be and I've been using it a week now and I am getting used to the feel on my lips! It isn't as greasy as alot of other lipglosses I've used I can tell you that!
The only thing I would disagree with the product on is the claim that it is 'Super Shiny'. That gives impression it's going to 'bling'. This it doesn't do which suits me fine I mean I'm 33 I don't want to look like Barbie but if you you buy it thinking it's going to be really, really shiny your in for a disappointment! It is shiny but in a Vaseline kind of way. It's subtle. You can tell it's there for sure but its not in your face. I like that about it. It's shimmery but it's not glittery and doesn't go on the lips like a big, fake plastic film.
I find it to be very moisturising, comfortable and long lasting on the lips. As someone who wears it to go out, drink, eat and smoke and likes to have a jolly good time this stays on my lips. I've also noticed when smoking it's not so sticky that my cigarette glues itself to the lipgloss and when removing said fag out of my mouth I lose all the skin on my lips! (that's happened too lol). It stays on a couple of hours and as I use Lipfinity all that means is a quick wipe over with the gloss again, it doesn't remove my lipstick. I have tried it on top of normal lipstick but for me the greasy feeling off lipstick mixed with gloss was just far too overwhelming and annoying and I struggled to control my lips!
All in all I like this lipgloss and when I want more I will definitely buy Barry M again. Aside from the taste and the smell, for me this is most suited for me and I actually thought I would not bother with glosses anymore!
Comes in a few subtle shades and I've seen them all the place but especially Superdrug and Boots at the price of £3.95 per tube.
