Advantages: natural look, cheap to buy
Disadvantages: stain lips
I have been a fan of Barry M for quite a few years now, mainly due to their bright and quirky items being sold as cheap prices. Barry M is purchasable at their online store, along with Boots, Superdrug and some department stores and larger supermarkets. I bought this the other day when in Boots as I noticed they had an offer across the whole range of Barry M of 3 products for 2. This would have normally have cost me in the region of £4.99 without the offer.
This was devised to give your lips a natural colour to them (does not actually come out green) and comes out a pinky/red colour to add depth. The colour that you end up differs from person to person as it depends on the alkaline level, which then sets the colour of a very pale nude pink to a deep, rich pink.
It comes in the same simple, yet effective packaging that all the other Barry M lipsticks come in, so despite the fact it has a green coloured bullet, to look at it looks the same as all the other Barry M Lip Paints.
To apply the lipstick feels lovely and moisturising to the lips and doesn't feel like it is / will dry out your lips like some of the other lip glosses do. I find that all the other Barry M lipsticks / lip paints are very drying on my lips and always need a gloss on top, however, it is not the case with this one as it it lovely and smooth to apply. It also has a slightly shiny look to it so it does not give your lips a completley matte appearance.
You do not need to put a lof of the lip stick on before the colour starts to develop as it only takes a few seconds. My personal colour was a natural looking, medium pink colour, which was really nice as my lips are normally quite nude looking. It is also a nice item if you are just wanting to wear natural make up but just want a little bit of colour in your lips!
The colour lasted for about two hours before the colour began to fade, which is about an average length of time for a lipstick. On several occasions I have applied 'lipcote' over this to make is last longer and when doing so it has lasted for an hour or so longer than the previous time. When wearing it my lips did not feel dry or like I needed to keep apply vaseline over the top.
The only thing that annoyed me about this product is that it did stain my lips a medium pink colour, much like many of the other Barry M lip products do. Due to the colour of it on my lips the stain wasn't too noticable, however, if it comes out a darker shade of pink then I think the stain would be more noticable and is likely to stand out. One thing that doesn't bother me, but may do other people is that there is no way of knowing hat shade the lip paint will end up due to it differing from person to person, therefore you do not know the exact shade you are buying and you may already have a similar one.
Overall I would definitley reccomend this item! It gives your lips a lovely, natural looking colour and moisturises them at the same time! It is good for if you want something that looks a bit different (green lipstick!) but is 'normal' looking once applied, I also like the way that the colour it turns out is likely to match your skin tone due to it being based on alkaline levels so hopefully it shouldn't clash with your skin tone.
Summary: Lovely lips
