Advantages: Vegan friendly, Natural ingredients, great price!
Disadvantages: None really
I wanted a natural looking mascara in brown that performed well and that was suitable for vegans and not tested on animals. From an extensive research session that lasted weeks online I eventually decided on Beauty Without Cruelty. I can say that I am extremely pleased with the mascara. From the applicator and tube to the price this was a great choice for me.
~~Who are Beauty without Cruelty?~~
This of course was a question that I wanted answered before I made my choice. Well in the first instance Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC) are a company with a policy of 'No testing on animals' and are '100% vegan and vegetarian friendly' and they have a recycling commitment too. Well I am off to a good start so lets look further.
This company has been around a long time, 30 years! They are totally within the terms and conditions that are required to be approved by the BUAV and comply with the fixed cut off date terms (Further info on this can be found on the BUAV website) so this is reassuring because it means that the products are cruelty free and that makes me happy to use them. The company are doing there bit to reduce their carbon footprint and are mindful of the need to care for the environment, this is a thumbs up from me as this is an important issue for everyone to consider and in particular businesses.
Well the next bit gets even better! As you may know I prefer natural products if it is possible and guess what, BWC use pure and natural ingredients and they are one of the best companies for offering make up that is great for sensitive skin. Well that also suits me as my skin is super sensitive in some areas and my eyes in particular can be irritated by some eye make up and mascara, this is sounding very appealing to me. Lets look further. BWC is fragrance free and hypoallergenic, so there we are then, this should suit me down to the ground.
~~What else can be purchased from BWC?~~
Well I for one would like to know, my appetite is whetted, my interest is certainly sparked. Lets see.
They have a range of products for the face which include foundations, tinted moisture, blusher and a number of different powders. So many options here depending on what you like to wear.
For the lips they offer lipstick, lip gloss and even lip liner.
For the eyes there is a good range of products including mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadow and they offer a good selection of colours.
They do nails too, a good range of high gloss colours to choose from.
Even a make up bag to put all your BWC goodies in!
Phew, well I am pretty impressed, I really wasn't expecting all of that choice, I thought it may be a very limited range but it certainly has lots to offer.
~~Silver range Mascara~~
Yes the mascara that I purchased is from the Silver range! Sounds good already and we haven't even looked at it yet. I had a choice of three options which were waterproof black, black or brown and yes I chose brown because I fancied a more natural me this time. I normally have black but I just went for a change. The price is so reasonable at £5.95! I normally end up paying double that amount for a mascara but there is a postage charge if you order online ( I managed to get one off eBay for £3.00 with free p&p) it pays to shop around sometimes. The original full volume mascara is what you get and with the additional benefits of sunscreen and conditioners. So that is me with lots of boxes ticked now.
~~What is the mascara like?~~
Well it comes un boxed in a simple but good quality silver tube. It has a screw off lid that has the brush attached and this is a good length to hold comfortably and apply precisely. The brush is great and no clumping was experienced! This is a definite bonus isn't it girls. Good coverage from two sweeps on the lash but I went for a third sweep and hey presto I got lovely effect, natural but nice and long and thick and beautifully separated. Its either the brush or my great technique? I would go for the brush! Plenty in here and will last the duration that is expected of a good mascara before it is time to replace. And when the time comes to replace you don't need to guess what my next mascara purchase will be. Well I can tell you it will be BWC Full Volume Mascara. This is the best I have had in a long time. I am pleased.
~~So how much was that?~~
Full Volume Mascara is approximately £5.95 depending on where you purchase from you may get it for less or manage to get free P&P but as I say my last mascara cost almost double that price so it isn't much different with P&P.
Okay so that is the BWC Full Volume Mascara. I think this is a good price for a product made from natural stuff and that is vegan friendly, and girls there are no clumps on my lashes! I am loving this brown, natural look. I can recommend this one.
