Bronzers have always been something I would walk past in Boots or at counters and if I had one in a set I would give them to my Mum as they just did not suit my fair skin at all. I then went through a phase of wearing bronzers to make me look glowing and healthy but looking back at pictures I either look like I have strange orange side burns, a weird glittery birthmark on both my cheeks or my face would just look dirty. So I ditched the bronzer and stuck to the English Rose look. But coming into Summer or as we Londoners know it as a few sunny days hear and there, I decided it was time to try and crack the bronzer code!
I shopped around and realised that there were so many different kind of bronzers to choose from - just like blushers, you can have cream bronzers, mousse bronzers, powder bronzers and even loose mineral bronzers. That's what caught my eye, as I recently switched to a loose mineral face powder to give me a lighter and natural look so I hoped this kind of bronzer would have a similar concept.
To my surprise there are not much of them around! I tried Boots, Superdrug, most department stores and even got my boyfriend to go and have a look at some shops near him! But nothing, so I decided on doing some online shopping which I always try and refrain from doing especially when it's a new product as you can never know what the true to life shade colours are. However when I came across the Bella Pierre Loose Mineral Bronzer I decided to give it a go as it sounded brilliant! It features an award winning silky smooth formula that gives 'any complexion' a healthy and sun kissed glow! It instantly gives your skin a natural tan without being too light or too orange! This bronzer has been recommended by make up artist and also dermatologists which means it not only looks good but it does good! Bella Pierre Bronzer is suitable for all skin types and tones including both oily and dry, mature skin and even sensitive.
There are 4 shades to choose from, although they are all predominately dark as that's the whole point in them - think of it as sketching, you shade in the bits to make it look more three dimensional. It's a similar thing but with your cheekbones, so you need the bronzer to be dark, but how dark depends on your skin tone.
Pure Bronze - This is the lightest bronzer in this particular range. The shade is a soft brown with very light burgundy properties and a flash of gold that is only noticeable once blended in. I think this is the best option for fair complexions as it isn't too dark, but is dark enough to be noticeable and give you a good gorgeous glow!
Starshine Bronze - This bronzer is a medium bronze as it is quite a mid toned brown with a lot of dark red hues and a lot of golden bronze shades all mixed in together. This is much too dark for me however it works perfectly for medium skin tones and also if you wear fake tan and want a bit of a touch up!
Kisses Bronze - As the name suggests, if you kiss your skin with this bronzer it will leave it looking totally sun kissed and glowing! The shade is a medium to dark brown with a lot of golden tones to it that out weigh the burgundy, claret shades. Again I would say this would be perfect for medium to darker skin tones.
Peony Bronze - The darkest bronzer of the range that is mostly a dark brown with a lot of dark red running through and a small amount of gold. If you have more yellow undertones to your skin then I would suggest the Kisses Bronze as it has the most golden hues, however if you are more for the pink undertones then this is the one for you.
I love the packaging that this bronzer comes in, it looks so classic and sleek - something that a make up artist would have handy at a photo shoot, with a round plastic pot roughly 2 and a half inches in diameter. The pot itself is frosted and partially see through so you can see the shade which helps when choosing the right one. The lid is gorgeous, glossy, shiny black and very sturdy so when dropped there is no danger of it spilling out. On the top of the lid is the brand name in white italic writing which adds to the sophisticated edge. When you unscrew the lid you are presented with a sieve like mechanism which stops you from pouring out too much product and wasting it.
I chose the lightest shade - Pure Bronze - at first I was a little skeptical and almost concerned that it would be too dark as in the pot it appeared to be quite dark and very shimmery. But once on and blended to within an inch of its life I was shocked at how well it suited my skin and how natural it actually look. I think its down to the loose powder concept as your brush doesn't pick up too much product. To apply, I use an angled blusher brush - however you can use whatever you like! I then tap out a small amount into the lid and lightly press my brush into it. Using soft, sweeping motions I then apply across my cheekbones and even up to the temples if your feeling daring. Any bronzer left in the lid I then pour back into the pot so as not to waste it. This way of application works well for me, I usually wear this with a blusher however it looks great on its own. You can use a sponge by picking up the product and pressing it on to your skin however be warned it does make it slightly more bolder and darker.
I love this bronzer as its so light and loose that you don't feel too over done. The shades are great and varied so if you have lighter skin there is an option for you as well as medium and dark skin tones. It blends really well and has great staying power so no extra powder is needed.
You can purchase Bella Pierre Loose Mineral Bronzer online on all good make up stores, if you would like the link to where I bought mine then message me and I would be only too glad to pass it on to you. It costs roughly £15 - £20 depending on where you buy, which may seem a little expensive. However as it is a loose powder you only use a little and it lasts for ages!
