This is a review of BellaPierre Cosmetics shimmer powder which I received in a beauty box recently in the shade 'Celebration' (SP017) which is a gold metallic shade. It is described as an all in one mineral make up product: Shimmer powder can be combined with moisturiser, lip balm, or even a drop of water to produce a cream eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, nail polish, or any other colour cosmetic you wish to create; you can either apply it with your fingers directly, or you can use a brush, cotton bud or sponge applicator.
Recommended by make-up artists and dermatologists, Bellapierre shimmer powders are 100% Hypoallergenic and are suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive.
The shimmer pot is 2.35g full size, which is enough to make a mess of anyone's carpet! Seriously though, the pot does have a sifter inside to stop the product falling out.
What's in it?
On the Bellapierre website it says there is Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron oxides and it also may contain Carmine.
As my shimmer powder was a bold gold colour, I primarily decided it would be best used as an eyeshadow and I tried it both dry and with water to create an eye liner effect. The first thing I noticed was how fine the powder was and this is good as it goes on to the skin a lot better than other glittery eye products I have tried. This is better for me as I tend to rub my eyes so big glittery eyeliners are not generally a good idea for me!
I love making my own nail varnishes from pigments and tried the Celebration with some clear nail varnish and it made a really pretty gold shade with a massive depth of colour and great sparkle. This is probably a better option for me than using it as an eye shadow.
I would have probably preferred a calmer colour from the Bellapierre shimmer powder range as this was a bit too loud for my liking but apart from this, I really did like the product and felt it was great quality. It worked better for me as a nail varnish but this is mainly due to the colour.
Beauty Bay online sell a range of 20 colours from the Bellapierre shimmer powder range priced £12.99 each. I have also seen a set of 9 in a stack retailing for £30 on cheapsmells.com
I like the concept of this multi-tasking product and found this pigmented powder to be soft, finely textured and easy to apply. I enjoyed trying the product but firmly believe that Celebration is not the colour for me on my face so it will be used on my nails in future. I would certainly be happy to try other colours from the range in the future.
