      Disadvantages

      5/5 for a great mascara

I have been using BAD gal lash mascara from Benefit for the last year and I love it!
I have naturally long lashes and want a mascara that will show these off...

BAD gal lash mascara gives a long luscious full look to lashes without clumping or drying like spiders legs. The big brush enables me to add lots of product and give a nice curl.
This mascara is a necessity in my make up bag!

The make up is easily removed with a good cleanser but does have staying power - there is also the option of a waterproof version but I find this is enough for me.

Typically I buy a new mascara every 6 weeks and in my opinion I don't think that is too bad - I think some people would argue that this is an expensive product and at around £18 I suppose I can see their point BUT I say 'you get what you pay for'.

What I'm reviewing: Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara

Benefit is a cosmetics brand that i don't really have that much experience of, i have a few of their products but normally have to stick to cheaper brands as the price is definitely on the high side. However, what i have used of theirs i have found to mostly be excellent.

I particularly love their packaging, it sets itself apart from other makeup brands and makes their products instantly recogniseable. It would not look out of place on a dresser in the 1950's. Benefit went global in 1997, but has definitely retained its All-American image. Twins and co-founders Jean and Jane Ford have stayed true to their original design ideas and I like that, they always come up with quirky names and little anecdotes for their products. The mascara tube is actually quite plain in design for Benefit, a black tube with "Bad gal" written at the bottom in a white font, and "lash" written in a bright pink italic font. The lid is silver.

I did not purchase this mascara, i got it given to me as a gift. However you can buy the 8.5g standard size for £17.50 from the website and for exactly the same price in Boots. I purchased one of its sister mascaras, the bad gal mascara in "Plum" a few years ago, it enhanced the colour of my eyes and made them pop but i did not rate it so much for lengthening and volumising properties, unlike this mascara.

One thing I will advise is that if you are not a fan of a big brush - this mascara ain't for you! It is the fattest brush I have ever used, personally for me it's a case of the bigger the better (ooh err!) and I can still coat my bottom lashes with ease as the brush tapers out at the tip. The formula is rich and very black, giving the definition that I want and need. I love that this mascara is very buildable, it doesn't clump at all and I can give my lashes a good several coats and it still seperates them without making them look "spidery". When it dries it does not crisp up and make my lashes feel hard which I hate.

I find this mascara to be very long lasting, it does not flake or smudge and I would liken it to a waterproof mascara with the added bonus of it actually being possible to remove! Incidentally you can buy it in a waterproof version if you want added staying power.

I have been using this mascara for 3 months now and It shows no signs of drying up or running out, and I like to load that product on! I would hazard a guess that is going to last me about 6 months, but i don't like using a mascara for longer that time anyway due to hygiene reasons.

I am giving it 4 Dooyoo stars out of 5 as I am knocking a star off because of the price. I will be repurchasing this when I run out but I know I am going to feel guilty thinking of what I could have bought for the same price. It is however a brilliant mascara and in my top 3 all-time favourites.

If you want seriously impressive lashes, buy this.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        not bad....

I was lucky enough to receieve a sample of this free with a magazine, I'd been meaning to try it for a long time and thought this was a good opportunity to give it a go.

Benefit is a high-end brand available in all department stores, some of the bigger Boots store and also online.

        THE CLAIMS:
        ----------------

        * Sexy, sultry, pure unadulterated black mascara for full, voluminous lashes.

        * Famously big, bodacious brush coats lashes with our super black formula

        MY EXPERIENCE:
        ---------------------

This mascara has a really good reputation, but to be perfectly honest I don't see what all the fuss is about. Yes, it does lengthen the lashes...the finish is good but there are products out there which do exactly the same thing for a much cheaper price. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad mascara but there's nothing special about it which would make me spend that extra money on it. The worst thing about it is probably the brush, it's MASSIVE which makes it so hard to apply, especially in the corners and on the lower lashes. It doesn't dry too quickly so you have time to build it up. The finish is good, the product stays on well throughout the day and doesn't flake off which is good.

        HOW TO APPLY:
        --------------------

        * For extra full lashes, coat both sides of the upper and lower lashes, then flutter away!

        THE PACKAGING:
        ---------------------

The tube is black with pink and white writing on it and the lid is silver. Benefit packaging is normally a bit more fun but it's okay, again nothing to get too excited over.

        VALUE FOR MONEY:
        ------------------------

As I mentioned before I receieved a sample in a magazine but if you were to buy this from Benefit it would set you back £17.50. It's not a ridiculous price but when you consider there are drug store products that are just as good it's not really worth buying this one.

        CONCLUSIONS:
        -------------------

The finish is good, you are left with dramatic lashes as claimed but I'd rather buy Maybelline's 'The Falsies' for £10 cheaper. A good mascara but nothing special.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

The only thing that isn't cheap about this mascara is the full price tag.

I don't have the time or the inclination to wear much make up on a regular basis but the one item that I wear everyday is black mascara. I am always on the look out for bargains and special offers so I was pleased to spot that Glamour magazine was giving away Benefit products with every issue a few months ago. I snapped up a copy offering a small 4g tube of Benefit 'Bad Gal' mascara, feeling sure that I had nabbed a bargain for just the £2 cover price of the magazine.

The tube itself is fairly simple, with nothing to indicate its supposedly 'premium' branding. If anything, the plain black tube with a silver metallic looking lid seems more like a budget brand, in all honesty. Likewise, the brush applicator seems pretty basic and is actually quite short and stubby with a fairly small coiled head section which slides easily in and out of the tube, without lots of excess mascara building up around the edge.

I'm not bothered too much by these design aspects so long as the product inside performs well although my expectations of a mascara are actually pretty minimal. I'm not too fussed by all these claims that different brands make about being able to lengthen, thicken and resemble false lashes and so on - I just want a product that will coat my lashes evenly without smudging or clumping, helping me to luck slightly more awake than I usually feel!

My first disappointment came when applying the product. I found the brush head to be far too short and stumpy to apply a decent amount of mascara on to my lashes. I also found that the tiny lashes at the corners of my eyes were missed completely, needing repeated applications to create an effect that was far from perfect. For some reason, the mascara just didn't seem to adhere to the brush head particularly well and didn't seem to want to stick on my lashes much either, almost as though the consistency wasn't quite thick enough for its primary purpose. Even with several coats, I didn't feel that this was really sufficient. The only saving grace here is that the mascara didn't start to clump on either the brush or my lashes, despite the repeated applications, although I suspect that is just because there wasn't enough being applied due to the poor performance of the brush and the mascara itself.

My second issue with this mascara is that it smudges incredibly easily, even many hours after application. I must admit that I do rub my eyes a lot during the course of the day and I wear contact lenses which may or may not make a difference but, even so, this mascara smudged more than any other brand that I've ever tried - even the cheap Aldi or Collection 2000 varieties. I really do not like resembling a panda after a stressful day at the office so, for that reason, I soon stopped using this as it really has to be the worst mascara that I've ever used in terms of staying power during the course of a normal day. Given this, it's no surprise (but very small comfort) that it washes off very easily at the end of the day, without needing to scrub and without any soreness or irritation.

If this had been a basic Poundland jobby, this might be more understandable but I would be very annoyed had I paid the £16 price tag that a full sized Bad Gal mascara usually costs. As it is, I resent paying the £2 I did for this mini version. (The magazine was pretty poor too!)

I really cannot emphasise enough how disappointed I was with the coverage and staying power of this supposedly premium branded product. I've never purchased any Benefit products in the past and my experience with this mascara is enough to ensure that I never will in the future.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

It's not worth the high price tag...

I do love a bargain. I was therefore delighted to discover that a recent copy of "Glamour" magazine was giving away some freebies with each copy of their magazine. As the freebies were from the "Benefit" cosmetics range, which I had tried only once or twice before, I decided to purchase a few assorted copies of the magazine to take full advantage of the small selection of cosmetics on offer.

One of the freebies at this time was a small box containing a small, 4.0g "travel-sized" tube of "Bad Gal Lash" mascara. I believe there was only one colour or shade choice available at the time, which was a dark black shade. I used the mascara, thought it was a nice enough product, and promptly rushed out to buy a couple more copies of the magazine to create a small 'stockpile' of the mascara tubes before the magazine was removed from general circulation.

My reasons for doing this are not difficult to understand when you consider the price of the full-sized tube, which is more than double the size of my petite version coming in at 8.5g. The usual price for this full-sized tube is £16.50, so doing the sums shows my freebie tube should really cost around the £8 mark. As the magazine only cost in the region of £2, it is easy to see the savings I made.

The packaging for the product is quite attractive I suppose, although I couldn't confess to thinking it was at all innovative or offered anything particularly eye-catching. The plain black tube and shiny 'chrome' effect lid are actually rather cheap looking in my opinion, although I am more concerned with how a product actually performs, rather than the packaging it is provided in. I couldn't honestly say that the product would have caught my eye from the display in the shop which is quite surprising, considering the higher-than-average price tag of the product.

Removing the brush from the tube, it looks to be larger than average, and certainly larger than many 'curling' mascaras that I use on a regular basis that often have a thinly-designed brush. It is difficult to tell what the 'selling points' of this mascara actually are, as there was very little information provided with the product due to it being a free sample. A quick look online tells me that this mascara has been created to provide "Full, voluminous lashes" so I was expecting the end result to be quite dramatic.

I found that this was not the case at all, which was probably down to the consistency of the mascara, which I felt was quite thin in comparison to many of the other 'thickening' mascara products that I use regularly. Being completely black in its colour, the rather thin liquid looked to be quite 'average', similar, in fact, to some of the mascara products that I have from 'budget' priced cosmetic ranges.

In my experience, it is those mascaras that have slightly thicker liquids that help to create a more 'intense' look, so anything with a slightly thinner consistency always causes me to be dubious about it being able to achieve any sort of real 'volume' or 'thickening' effect.

The larger-than-average brush provided with the Bad Gal Lash was not overly cumbersome for me to use, and I didn't experience any problems with smudging or anything which is a huge plus point of course. I have to be honest here and say that my eyelashes are very dark and quite long naturally, so I felt they were able to cope with the larger-than-average quite easily. I could quite understand if somebody with short or very fine lashes found the brush more difficult to use, but this wasn't the case for me.

I found the results from using the Bad Gal were quite unremarkable, but that is not to say I was not happy with the product. To explain a bit better, I felt the product provided full coverage to my lashes, and the process of applying the mascara was quick and easy to undertake, probably down to the large brush. I also felt that the liquid mascara was of quite a high quality, as I experienced no 'dripping' or smudging, neither did the mascara rub off or run too hastily; it's not waterproof, but it didn't budge too easily either - perfect for me and my own requirements.

"Full & Voluminous" didn't come close to the end results. Instead, I felt my lashes were covered to perfection, with the end results being much less noticeable than that of a voluminising or 'thickening' mascara and I was actually quite surprised to learn that this product is marketed as such. I had assumed it was a rather 'everyday' mascara product, designed to provide full colour and coverage to the lashes as this best describes the results achieved, in my experience.

I am happy with the results, but only for everyday wear or for less formal occasions. For a more dramatic or 'intense' look, I opt to use a different product entirely as the Benefit Bad Gal just doesn't deliver on this score. So, if you are thinking of purchasing it on this basis my advice would be to steer clear, and this goes for anybody with short or fine natural lashes too as I just don't think the product is suitable for creating this type of effect.

As a side note, the product is absolutely ideal for me to take on trips and holidays due to its petite, 'handbag sized' tube. This is something that could not be said of the full-sized version of course, but it is a huge advantage for me, and is another reason that I wanted to purchase a couple of the 'freebie' tubes.

I have experienced no issues in terms of sensitivity or aggravation to the sensitive eye area which has led me to the conclusion that the product actually contains quite a mild, gentle formulation.

Additionally, I have had no difficulty in removing the product along with the rest of my facial make-up, finding a moist facial wipe or some everyday make-up remover are more than adequate to remove all traces from my skin.

In summary, I am happy enough with my freebie tubes of the product and think it provides a nice effect for everyday use. I didn't feel the product lived up to its claims however, so one star removed from the product rating for that. As for the ludicrous price tag that the full-sized version carries, I feel this is vastly overpriced for what is essentially an everyday, rather basic mascara product.

As @ the time of writing (August 2012), the Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara (8.5g tube) can be purchased online at Boots (www.boots.com) for the sum of £16.50 plus postage costs. I believe there is a free gift available with the product for a limited time. You can also purchase in store.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Look into my eyes!

Bad Gal Lash Mascara is one of the range of products available from Benefit Cosmetics. When it comes to make up I'm generally not really that fussed as long as my eyes are half decent. I first began using Bad Gal Lash Mascara back in 2009 when my mum made me a little Christmas stocking filled with eye make up products. At the time I had never heard of the brand but I liked the look of the packaging and was happy because my current mascara was coming to an end.

            The Packaging
My Bad Gal Lash Mascara came packaged in a black cardboard box with the same pink and white logo as the mascara tube itself. The tube of mascara is 40g with a net weight of 0.14oz. As with most mascaras this means it is suitable to take on a plane in hand luggage if you pack it in the clear plastic bag for liquids to go through customs, great if you are going away for a long weekend. The design of the tube is simple, it is a black base with the Bad Gal Lash logo on the front and the manufacturer information on the reverse. The top is silver and unscrews to use the wand.

            The Wand & Liquid
The first thing I noticed when I unscrewed the top was the black liquid inside appeared rather thick compared to my previous mascara, nevertheless I applied in in the same way as I had always done, starting with my right eye and then moving to my left. I find the mascara is very easy to apply and the brush separates my lashes very well making them seem longer and fuller than they actually are.

The brush itself is about 3 cm in length and has nice soft bristles which hold the mascara well and move through your lashes with ease.

I particularly like that even though I found the liquid to be quite thick in appearance, it doesn't feel heavy and it isn't cloggy even when you break the golden rule of using mascara by dipping the wand in and out of the tube a few times before you apply it. I always remember my mum telling me I should never do this as I would end up with clogged up lashes and also ruin the liquid remaining in the tube.

            Removal
To removed the mascara is easy due to the fact that it isn't waterproof, this means I can simply wash my face as usual with either a facial cleanser or regular soap and the mascara is washed off with ease. On the odd occasion of shaky hands or more haste and less speed I have accidentally dabbed the mascara on my cheeks or nose and some how even my ear at one point, to remove these splodges I simply wiped them straight away with a bit of tissue.

            Price & Availability
So far, I haven't had to purchase this mascara myself as my mum has replenished it each Christmas before I ran out, however as I am coming to the end of my current one I think I may finally have to make a purchase. A quick search online tells me I can buy it in Boots for £16.50! This is where you can tell I'm not really into make up as I personally think this is rather expensive! Yes, it is a great product but a quick search on eBay tells me I can get the same item starting from £2.99 plus postage... eBay it is then! My eBay search has also revealed that the mascara comes in 2 sizes, travel size and full size, although I cannot find the measurements for each size, mine is quite small so I will presume it is the travel size.

            Recommended?
I do recommend this mascara. It gives my eyes a great look with full bodied and long eyelashes. I really like that the mascara lasts a long time, I can apply it in the morning and it is still there in the evening. It washes off easy which is great, however I would like it even more if it was waterproof as I wouldn't have to think of the weather before choosing which mascara to use! Obviously from my shock of the price I would say to buy it on somewhere like eBay!

            Thanks for reading :)

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Just an average mascara

This is a review of Bad Gal Lash by Benefit. I am on my second tube now but I have to say up front that the second tube came in a mini kit, which I bought really for the other two products rather than for the bad gal lash. I know a lot of people rave about Benefit and think it's marvellous but I personally can find the products a bit hit and miss. I love the packaging but feel it is all terribly overpriced.

            Mini set
The set is called 'Tan about town' and includes a 4g Bad Gal lash and I don't mind this mascara but it's not the best one I ever used. I guess what I am saying is that I don't mind using it but there are other ones out there that work better for me.

            What is it?
Bad Gal Lash is a mascara that offers a dramatic effect on your eyelashes. The main colour is black but they have released a version in Plum which is proving quite popular. It goes on thick and the brush is a big one full of bristles so you get a lot of product on them when you go to apply it. Especially with a new tube. I tend to prefer it after a couple of weeks' use as it has dried up a bit by then and doesn't mark my upper eye when I blink and it's still a bit wet.

            Performance
Bad Gal lash is a really concentrated colour so you get a really black set of lashes after applying. I do find that the tube dries up well before other mascaras I have used but I'm not sure why that is. If you apply too much you will regret it as it really clumps lashes together but I suppose you can say that of many mascaras. I try to never sleep in make up and this is easy to remove with a cream cleanser but you always wake up with a bit of a smudge under the eye after wearing bad gal lash.

            Packaging
The Bad Gal Lash Tube is black on the body and silver lid. The lid also has the brush built in as is traditional with mascaras. I love my mini version as it's perfect to take on the go especially if you have a small handbag.

            Price
Full size is 8.5g and Boots sell it for £16.50. However, as I mentioned above, my current version is a mini 4g version and it came in a small travel or trial set that cost £9 so I make that £3 per product. For that price I am happy to own another bad gal lash!

            My thoughts
This mascara doesn't make me rave and it doesn't blow me away but for a one coat layer it works perfectly fine. I don't try and add more than one coat as it makes my lashes look awful but I do feel this can be an everyday mascara if you just take it steady and don't over do it. As the tube dries up faster than other ones I've used I would be reluctant to purchase a full sized tube but I don't mind buying one if it comes in a set with other products that I want.

            Final thoughts
The Tan about town set is a cheap way to get hold of some mini Benefit products without breaking the bank!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Really great mascara for everyday use!

I was unsure when I first used BADgal lash as the brush looked massive and didn't look as if it was going to coat eyelashes particularly well, however it coats my eyelashes very thick and evenly but not so they go clumpy or really long and sticky looking (I call this the spider legs look haha!). It is probably my favourite mascara I have used and I use it almost everyday. Another reason I love this mascara is because it doesn't flake off through the day. This item was bought for me as a gift for about £16-£18 which I think is a very fair price especially as it was doubled up with Benefits BADgal Waterproof Eye Pencil, which was an offer in Boots at Christmas time.

I have been using this mascara since december (time to replace it!) and still have plenty left and it has not dried out. I have even purchased a mini tube I got free with Glamour Magazine that often have three different benefit gifts each year. This way I have mini mascara in my bag at all times incase I need it!
I also really love the design of the tube because the font and even the name are very fun whereas I feel a lot of mascaras can look tacky or boring when makeup should be fun!

The only downside I would say it has is it more of a volume and thickening mascara than a mascara that makes your eyelashes long so when I want a more exaggerated look I tend to curl my eyelashes or often use another mascara on top just to lengthen my lashes a little. I also find it a little hard to cover my bottom lashes with (which I don't do often so it doesn't bother me too much) and use a different masara, usually a waterproof one.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              An expensive disappointment from Benefit

It is only on the very rare occasion that I will leave the house without mascara and I would probably class it as the most important item in my make-up bag. I've always tended to opt for Boots No 7 products solely due to the fact that I have had good experiences with the majority and I make my purchases when they are on offer in combination with a £5 No 7 voucher. My mascaras have to meet a number of requirements and that is they must be black, non waterproof, thickening and lengthening as unfortunately, I wasn't blessed with beautifully long lashes.

I've experimented with a number of brands and have just finished one belonging to Soap and Glory where I was able to obtain a full sized tube accompanying a women's monthly magazine. My latest find is a 40g tube of Bad Gal Lash manufactured by Benefit, which I received on a recent copy of the £2 magazine named Glamour, which as far as I am concerned is the perfect way of trying out a new product without spending a fortune and this review discusses my thoughts.

The full sized version of the black mascara is 8.5g and I received a half size tube, which was manufactured exclusively for Glamour magazine. Its appearance is identical with the vibrant eye catching colours of cerise, black and white. The only noticeable difference with the smaller tube in comparison with the full sized version is the length of the wand, which is slightly shorter. The wand easily unscrews to reveal a large and full brush section, which might be a little off-putting for some women. However, I've used quite a few similar sized brushes with my last few purchases and after a little practice they enable an easy application.

Benefit claim that the mascara will create full and voluminous lashes due to the large brush, which allegedly coats the lashes with their super black formula and it seems that they pride themselves on the size of the brush. A good amount of mascara is dispensed onto the brush and whilst I am familiar with using large brushes, I found it extremely difficult to effectively coat my lashes. I initially suspected that insufficient mascara had covered the brush and I again dipped it into the tube, but experienced the same problem, which prevented me from fully covering my lashes. When using other brands I generally need to place the brush into the mascara only once in respect of each coating for each eye.

However, I believe my problems were caused by the super-sized brush, which subsequently prevents a good coating and whilst my lashes received a thin coating of mascara, it was simply not enough for me and I had high hopes for Benefit, particularly as it can be described as one of the premium brands. I'm also of the opinion that the brushes are too rigid in comparison with other brands and as a consequence, they will not allow any movement when being placed against the lashes. My efforts to obtain a good coating resulted in each application drying too quickly, which resulted in unsightly clumps and blobs, which is most definitely not the look I want to achieve. As a result, I found that the mascara is only suitable for one application, which offers a sparse covering, which is not dramatic enough for me. Sadly I saw no evidence of the claim of full and voluminous lashes, which was really disappointing. I do not believe that my grumbles are due to a faulty product, as each time I placed the want back into the tube I could hear the mascara squelching against the brush. Removing the small amount of mascara from my lashes is an effortless task with the aid of baby lotion and some cotton wall balls.

The list of ingredients contained within this mascara is endless and for obvious reasons I do not intend copying them into this review. The mascara should be used within 6 months of opening with the plastic tube being recyclable once empty. For the reasons discussed above I cannot recommend Benefit Bad Gal Lash and am shocked at its price tag of £16.50. I am so pleased that I had the opportunity to try out this product for the cover price of the magazine as I would have been far from happy had I forked out hard earned cash.

I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

A really good mascara although it is pricey compared to some

Well, fellow dooyooers, the impossible has happened. Missrarr has only gone and found Mrrarr. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the poor deluded fool has gone and announced to the world that he and I are a couple. Cue me even more determined than ever to be the perfect "all things to all people" girl, perfect girlfriend, perfect at work, perfect daughter, perfect home etc etc. In short, probably you can expect a lot more reviews!

So, as part of my enhanced "perfect girl" lifestyle push, I've decided to raid the multitude of cosmetics and beauty products I have kicking around to make sure I haven't missed a trick before dismissing them forever more and moving on to something shiny, glitzy and new.

When I moved house a lot of stuff from my old bathroom got put in a box and never came out again - by chance I found that box, with some make up bags amongst it, just a couple of days ago, and in my exuberant rootling about through it all I found a sample bottle of Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara. I have no idea how I overlooked it, but I guess in the chaos of moving I forgot I even had it. This one definitely had to see the light of day - after all, it might be the dream product that finally makes my eyes irresistible, right?

                ***BENEFIT***
One of the reasons I was so excited to find this was that I have longed to try the Benefit range for so long. Unfortunately, whilst I have heard nothing but rave reviews for their wares, I have never been able to justify the price tag of Benefit so have never had the fun of finding out for myself, so I was delighted to be able to try this out.

Benefit are known for their fun names and wonderful packaging and from what I can tell their products are widely respected as being very true to delivering on expectations and claims. Unfortunately they are largely available on the high street only through concessions like Debenhams although now I work in London I have come across their independent shops, and they sell online.

                ***BADgal***
Well you never know, this might make me feel even more flirtatious than I already do at the moment with a title like that!

BADgal retails for £16.50 via the Boots website. My sample is a small version (4g) but both seem to come in black with white and pink on the logo and a silver screw top.

                ***MY EXPERIENCE***
I excitedly unscrewed the lid of this product and revealed the wand. Now, anyone who read my Rimmel Sexy Curves review will know that I had a mini rant about all these weirdly-shaped silicone wands that are all the rage but with this product you have the mother of all old-fashioned brushes! So much so that I can imagine there is barely any mascara in the bottle of sample I have because the brush must take up all the room! It is conical towards the end which allows you to go toddling after these pesky, elusive shy little corner lashes but the body of this beast is full-on, big and properly brush-esque,

So on it went! I applied without eyelash curlers and I have to say, I had high expectations....and was vastly disappointed.

I didn't find this product's texture to be overly wet or overly heavy, but with the massive brush I expected the application to be heavier than it was. But this said, as I've alluded to in past mascara reviews, I have never had a mascara or foundation that I have put on and instantly loved. As it turns out, this was no exception.

When I thought about it, with two coats applied as I would any other mascara, my lashes looked black and more noticeable, but still natural. Then I realised something. Normally every mascara I have known, on first application after opening for the first time, slakes the lashes with way too much product. I can't speak for the full-size version but this didn't - and it didn't clump my lashes, because the brush is so bristle-heavy that I don't see that it couldn't, although if the consistency was gloopy and heavy the brush would be a nightmare. So maybe this was worth another try...

...one thing I hate about most mascaras is that once you've put some on, say for work, and would like to up your look a bit to go out for drinks afterwards, if you try to apply mascara over existing coats then your lashes will be stiff, unresponsive and liable to clump. So I tried an experiment - later today I applied two more coats, having not removed the ones that I put on earlier - which by the way, had not crumbled, smudged or irritated.

Amazingly, this went on really smoothly. The bristle-tastic brush didn't clump even though there was pre-existing product in place. Instead, my lashes looked fuller, longer and each and every one of them was defined. I was amazed because (and for all we're apparently all meant to look like Cheryl Cole, I think in my experience any Nice Young Man worth his salt prefers a girl to look natural and mine is no different) the effect was natural, yet impressive. My lashes weren't glued together. I didn't have smudged under my lashes, my eyes weren't irritated, my confidence was boosted and I have to say I instantly fell in love with this product!

                ***FINAL OPINION***
Well, this is not advertised as being waterproof and I've yet to wear it in the rain but it comes off well enough and stays on when you want it to. I would be surprised if anyone would say it was obvious I was wearing heaps of mascara and so for all it is worth applying a few coats, the formula of this product means that this has a great cumulative effect rather than the awkward, over-done, stiff effect I'm used to from high street mascaras.

I must say that £16.50 is a lot for a mascara and more than I would normally pay. However, whilst I can't justifiably comment on the longevity of a full-price bottle, I can't deny that this is one of the nicest mascaras I have ever used, and I don't doubt that when used with eyelash curlers would probably give a very bold show indeed.

I can't believe that not a single one of my lashes have stuck together using this mascara after several coats and it looks like I have more lashes than I suspect I really do. Suffice to say, next time I see the significant other he'll be getting the full benefit (no pun intended!) of my fluttering eyelashes coated in this product and I suspect it will have the desired effect!

I'm going to take off a star because I have noticed the odd flake of this product below my eyes after a long day, but my days really are long so it's not a disaster for me. A top quality mascara.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  Gives nice thick luscious lashes

I'm constantly disappointed with mascara. I suffer with waterery eyes and more often than not end up with dark circles under my eyes and as we all know girls, panda eyes are never a good look.

Deciding that quality is going to make a difference and because I love most products from Benefit I decided that Badgal lash was definitely worth a try.

At £16.50 this really isn't a cheap mascara, and of course there are cheaper products out there. However I do like the way this product feels - that is to say that the product itself doesn't feel cheap. Its in a sturdy feeling black tube with pink writing on (which makes it easier to pick out of my makeup bag. It has a lovely big brush applicator which makes application a breeze.

Whilst one coat of this mascara is fine, i'd also say that this product is perfect for layering up and i find that you can put several coats of mascara on to get luscious, bold and voluminous lashes without clumping! Perfect for the false lash look without the hassle!

If you want blacker than black thick flirty lashes then this product is worth a try!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Brilliant mascara but don't expect it to last long

I religiously buy this mascara. It is great and certainly makes a large difference to the look o=f my lashes. Many moons ago I always wore fake eyelashes but I have found that with this product it is more than sufficient. I love it.
THe brush itself is big, which works well to get a lot of mascara onto my lashes and really extend them. The only downside is the finer movements are more difficult, I now use an eyelash comb which helps but it is hard to get this product neatly onto my smaller lashes and the ones on my lower eyelids.
This product has a lot of staying power, I have found it lasts all night but importantly it washes off easily with a good remover so you don't lose too many lashes trying to get it off! Another downside is that it doesn't seem to last very long, I think the large brush uses a lot at one and it seems to dry out fairly quickly compared to my other mascaras making it quite expensive for the amount of use that I actually get out of it.

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

                    .

When I try new make up from more expensive brands such as Benefit, I like to buy from ebay first because if I use it and it isn't good enough, then it's not to much money wasted if I don't like it, so I first purchased this from ebay at £8, this rrps at £16.50 which is only a little more than lower branded mascara's such as bourjois.

This mascara is supposed to give the look of instant false lashes, well in my opinion and experience, this doesn't really do that in the slightest. The brush for this is your very typical and normal mascara brush, nothing special at all and the mascara itself seems fairly normal and average, I found that when opening and pulling out the brush, it was caked in mascara and it often flicked out on to myself and my hands, so I had to wipe myself and them scrap all the excess mascara off back on to the pot as best as I could.

As for putting the mascara on, it looked like a cheap nasty mascara that just made your eyelash's look flat and dull like an older person who has just put some on for a little colour, didn't give a natural eyelash look never mind a false eyelash look, however I continued to apply a few more layers hoping it wouldn't look so dull, but surprise, nothing happened. This dried really hard and when I tried to wipe this off it kind of hurt me a little and I actually pulled some lashes out which wasn't good, in the morning I found I still had some on and I had panda eyes.

Overal, there are cheaper better mascara's you can use, benefit mascara might just be for a certain type of persona s I don't think it works for everyone

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

                      Beautiful BAD gal lashes!

Back when I was on the prowl for the perfect mascara my best friend went on holiday to New York and came back with a mascara like I had never seen before-Benefit's BAD gal lash mascara.

I oggled at the mascara for hours wondering what it would make my eyelashes look like and being in awe of how large the mascara wand was. Not one to share a girls mascara (I don't EVER want to risk eye infections-so not pretty!) I popped along to my local House of Fraser and gasped when I saw the £16.50 price tag. However back at the age I bought this product at I had alot more disposable income and decided to go ahead and buy the product.

I bought the product in black as it had always been my mascara colour of choice but it is also available in Brown, Blue and Plum.

With 8.5g of mascara I knew that I'd get a good couple of months worth of product out of the thick black round tube. The tube has a slight shine to it boasting the same design as its packaging. The lid on the tube is silver and gives you a good grip during application.

The mascara wand is unlike any other mainly for it's size. Slightly overwhelming at first the mascara wand is definately the secret to this products success. Managing to cover most lashes in the first stroke I instantly fell in love as my lashes felt like they had already grown in length thanks to the product.

I loved this mascara but the only thing that put me off was spending that much on mascara when there were other products on the market for alot cheaper than this, saying that writing this review has given me the urge to splurge on pay day!

It's reccommended by Benefit to coat both sides of the lashes to give your eyes that extra WOW factor!

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

For the real glam girls who like to take there time

Benefit always bring us the best but is this mascara the best or just bad?

Well I've just finished my first bottle. I have had a number of benefits products in the past and on the whole think that they are normaly very good.

                      The product design

It looks very city and i always love benefits choice of labeling and how their products look and this mascara is no exception. What to say about the actual product, The brush has loads of bristles and is thin at the tip and wide at the base. The liquid is thick and full. The colour of mine is black (you can get it in brown and blue) It comes in a neat little box with the same design as the mascara tube.

                      The application

Bad gal mascara should be applied slowly and carefully and if you want really thick lashes, two coats is probably the best idea starting right at the base of your lashes to help stop the clumping and be sure to let it dry i don't think its the mascara itself. My opinion is is the brush (it doesn't go on the brush very well). It is very good but you really can't apply a quick coat it will clump.

                      The price

Comparing it to your average £7 mascara i don't think i would buy it again the extra £10 pounds is better in my pocket if I'm really honest. Which is a shock because benefits tools are usually the best.

                      The verdict

After saying this though i do like it because when you take the time to apply it looks hot. Its probably a mascara for the evening, party, or night out. Not for a natural look. .I would recommend for someone who wants a extra glamorus look if you like to take your time, the results are brill especially for a smoky eye look its great. Best kept for special occasions i think if your going to pay the extra pounds. Not for me I'm afraid. This is why i gave it a 3/5 stars.
