Advantages: Thick, Strong colour

Disadvantages: Smudges easily, Expensive

I have always only ever bought your middle of the road make-up, mainly Rimmel and so on as now I can't afford to splurge. However, you read the reviews and articles about the slightly more expensive make-up and long to try it. When I saw Benefit's Bad Gal Kohl Eyeliner as a gift with my favourite magazine, Glamour, I just knew I had to try it and it went straight into my stash, only to be drawn upon recently.

The pencil is in a bright hot pink design with "Bad Gal" written in black down the side, it looks expensive but stylish and something you wouldn't mind being seen touching up your make-up with. One thing to mention is that the pencil is a lot thicker than other eyeliners, which has its pros and cons.

Well, I'll start what it promises - smoky dark eyes and yes, in the magazine, that's what you get. However, I'm by no means a make-up artist more like paint by numbers putting my face on, and I found that the thickness of the pencil too thick to draw a straight line without smudging and as for a flick, it just looked like a blob. I found the consistency quite soft, which means it didn't drag along my eyeline which I can't stand. The biggest problem was that the sexy look promised just ended up looking like panda eyes!

To sum up really, it did make doing my eyes quicker, as the eyeliner goes on in a dark jet black thick line and you don't have to spend 10 minutes trying to get a thicker line. I may have been a little harsh in my title at £2 with my magazine, I'd use it again but I think my liquid eyeliner at just under £5 works a lot better than this at £14. Also due to it's size, it's impossible to find a sharpener that fits properly.

Summary: Too expensive for smudgy eyeliner
