Benefit are a brand I have only recently come across. When I passed the Benefit counter in Boots, I have always thought their products look a bit tacky and thought they would be of terrible quality. Well, today, I spent £55 so my opinions have obviously changed.
Benefit is a make up brand set up by identical twins; Jean and Jane Ford. In 1976, Benefit was set up to provide make up that wasn't serious, but at the same time gave their customers excellent quality. It does that amazingly well! The company grew from a small boutique in San Francisco to having 2,000 counters in over 30 countries.
The brand have won many awards over the years, so you know they're good!
To find out more about Benefit and the products they offer, take a wee look at the website. I'm sure you'll be able to find something to save up all your DooYoo money for.

I would just like to say that I received excellent service while I was at Boots. The sales people are amazingly helpful and just so friendly. I was looking awfy confused and the girl came up to me and just helped me with everything I needed. She gave me a little makeover free of charge which totally brightened up my day! I was also booked in for a free make up lesson, which I'm really looking forward to.
.::About the mascara::.
What does this product promise to do?
Benefit say this is a 'deep brown mascara for mile high lashes' which is what it says on the box. The website goes further and says 'this deep brown mascara darkens your lashes so they're crazy noticeable, not crazy-crazy. It shows off what you already have...only betta!' and also that the product 'separates & defines, leaving a fan of fluffy, clump-free lashes'.
- What it looks like...
The mascara comes in a brown and metallic pink box. In white writing it has the name of the product with the word 'brown' written in the metallic pink.
The actual mascara is long, thin brown tube with similar writing to the packaging. It has a pewter coloured, shiny top.
The mascara wand is quite thin and long compared to others I have been using recently. I seem to be picking up these mascaras with enormous brushes so it's quite a relief to not have the usual giants looming towards my eyes, lol.
Water, polybutene, beeswax, styrene/acrylates/ammonium methacrylate copolymer, iron oxides, silica, euphorbia cerifera, palamitic acid, stearic acid, acacia senegal gum, triethanolamine, hydroxyethycellulose, phenoxymethanol, aminomethyl propanediol, ultramarines, butylene glycol, tetrasodiumedta, tocopheryl acetate, sodiumlaureth sulphate, titanium dioxide, caprylyl glycol, potassium sorbate.
.::How to use this product::.
The Benefit website recommends that you coat both sides of the upper and lower lashes, which is basically what you do! It can be quite difficult to coat the tops of your upper lashes (well, I find it difficult) so have a wee cotton wool bud to hand in case things go wrong! Also, if you don't want too much of a dramatic look, don't put too much on your lower lashes. Just tap it on your lashes instead of coating them completely.
Tip: If you just slightly shake your hand while your applying the mascara, it'll coat the lashes a bit more making them really stand out. Also, if you be brave and put the wand as close as possible to your eye, even if it means getting mascara all over your eye, it means you'll get more volume and your lashes will separate out better. You can always wipe it away with a bit of make-up remover or cover it up with concealer.
Remember, don't pump the mascara wand in and out of the tube as this will only dry out the mascara and it'll get gloopy and sticky quicker.
.::Does this product deliver?::.
I was really impressed with this product and bought it immediately after I got my little makeover at the Benefit counter. I've used it everyday since as I'm just so in love with it.
.::How easy is it to apply?::.
It really is quite easy, I am really used to applying mascara though. If you're not used to it, I would have a wee practise. Remember and coat every lash, including the little tiny ones in the inner corners. If you do make a mistake, it's easy to correct!
.::Do I have crazy noticeable lashes?!::.
I actually do, but not crazy crazy! This mascara provides a lot of volume, but it looks more natural because the mascara is brown. If I was using the black version, it would just stand out too much and not look good. I've always been self-conscious about wearing make up while I'm wearing glasses, I don't know why, but I'm extremely happy to wear this mascara while I'm wearing gleks.
This mascara really separates your lashes and I was so impressed with the effects of this.
.::How long does it last?::.
It lasts all day! It doesn't say anywhere whether it's waterproof or not, but I usually takes that to mean it isn't. I would always carry a brolly when you're wearing it, just to be safe!
You have to do a fair bit of scrubbing to get this stuff off, but not so much that your eyes are red and sore. I've used both eye make up remover and soap & water, both do a decent job.
.::Does it have any other unwanted effects?::.
It doesn't irritate my eyes whatsoever, but I don't suffer from sensitive eyes. The packaging doesn't say anywhere whether it's suitable for contact lens wearers, so I would be a bit cautious if you do wear contacts.
I'd recommend going to a Benefit counter and getting a wee makeover (if you're too scared to ask, just go to the counter and have a wee browse and pick up this mascara, eventually someone will come over and offer to help you and probably give you a makeover!). Then you can test out this product to see how it'll react with your eyes for free! There's nothing worse than buying a product only to find out that it doesn't agree with you.
.::Price & Availability::.
This isn't cheap, it'll skin you a whole £14.50, but I really think it's worth it! It'll last you for ages as you only need a little bit to all your lashes!
You can pick this up at most Boots stores, House of Frasers and Debenhams. There are also several boutiques around the UK, you can find out where they are at the following link: http://www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk/gp/node/n/75654031/?ext_id=UK_about_boutiques
You can also purchase this on the Benefit website (www.benefit.co.uk).
I found a few cheap Benefit products on www.cheapsmells.co.uk, so hopefully this will appear on there soon as you can save quite a bit of money!
I love this product! It gives you beautiful, natural looking eyes with an extra bit of oomph. It is a little pricey, but I'm sure you could save up your Boots points and give yourself a little treat. I'm not taking off a star for the price because I honestly do think it's worth the pennies.
