Benefit Benetint Lip Balm
Advantages: Nice tint.
Disadvantages: Expensive, doesn't moisturise, sticky.
I receive Benefit Benetint as one of my stocking fillers last Christmas, a rose- tint lip balm which also contains SPF 15. My Mum knows these sorts of presents usually go down well with me as I'm forever trying to add moisture to my lips with various lip balms and tend to buy new varieties regularly. Benetint isn't cheap, in Boots, Debenhams and online it retails for £14, I find Benefit products often are overpriced and this isn't something I'd buy for myself unless I was paying with my Advantage Points.
The balm comes in typical Benefit packaging, with a very retro feel and a picture of a fifties woman on top of the lid with a big grin and rosy lips, the Benetint logo is clearly visible along with the SPF 15 claim. The balm is contained in a small glass round container which holds just 6.5g of the balm, not much for £14! The lid screws on/ off and is very secure.
When I opened the pot I was quite shocked at just how red the balm looked, however Benefit claim the balm is 'universally flattering' so I hoped it would fade a little when I put it on my lips. When I first dipped my finger into the balm I found it very gloopy and sticky, but applied it to my lips anyway. On my lips it also felt gloopy and I found myself removing most of the balm and leaving just the bare minimum remaining. The colour was okay, quite subtle and a rosy pink/ red it wasn't really very noticeable which I like as I prefer a more natural look. I find the colour fades pretty quickly and I tend to reapply after a couple of hours which, although I only use a small amount of the balm on each application, means that I do end up using quite a lot.
After wearing my lips don't feel particularly moisturised, the balm isn't drying at all but I wouldn't say it has any positive effects either. The stickiness I find, does stay on my lips, this is one of the reasons I don't wear gloss very often, because I always wear my long hair down and hair stuck to my lips is never good. I have also used Vaseline in the Rosy Lips variety, this moisturises lips much better and have the same rosy tint for £1.99, a much better buy.
I've been disappointed by Benefit Benetint, it doesn't moisturise my lips, just leaves them feeling sticky. The rosy tint is nice but this can be achieved for much cheaper using, a waste of money in my opinion, one to avoid!
Summary: 2/5 a nice rosy tint but that's the only benefit.
