BENEFIT - BENETINT
THE PRODUCT ....
I think most people will have heard of Benefit so I do not think that I need to inform you that Benefit is a brand of cosmetics. I own and have used many Benefit products over the years, they are always good quality my only issue with them is the cost, they are a medium to high end make up brand and as such I am sure many like myself can not be brand loyal.
Benefit is actually quite a new comer in the world of cosmetics, it was founded in 1976 by Jane and Jean Ford when they opened their first store "The Face Place" in San Francisco. Not sure about their choice of store name!
The first product they created was the product that I am reviewing the Benetint, which was originally called Rose tint. The fun fact about this product is that they originally designed this product for an exotic dancer who required a tint to help darken her nipples! That's right our blusher and lip tint started life as a nipple tint! Anyone fancy giving it a trial to tint their nipples?
THE PACKING ....
Benetint comes in a small cardboard box that is a deep red colour, the box is not very fancy, it simply has the name Benetint across the centre of the box. There is a medium sized circle that is a pale pink colour mid way down the box that also covers part way around the right side of the box. Below this is the information about the product informing us that it is a rose tinted lip and cheek stain (note no information on nipple stain lol). This is repeated in French I think it is, sorry not fluent in french. Next is the brand name and the measurements of the product contained inside the box.
Once opened you are faced with a small bottle that reminds me quite a bit of a nail polish, the bottle is clear with a white lid. The front of the bottle again has the pink circle on the front/side, I do wonder if this is meant to resemble a blusher circle although we do not really use blusher in circles. The name Benetint is again in large white txt across the centre and the brand name is in small white text at the bottom. I do find it odd that the brand name is so small on the product.
The bottle is a twist cap and opens as you would a twist cap polish. Once the bottle is open there is a small brush applicator attached to the lid again similar to most standard polish containers.
THE PRODUCT ....
The product is a deep red liquid, it is of a water consistency and you need to be careful with it, the product is a stain and will provide a temp stain on any skin it comes into contact with and I could not get it out of an item of clothing I got it onto by mistake. It has faded but never fully come out.
To use it is suggested that you draw 4 lines across each cheek and simply blend as desired, dotting more product as you wish to build up colour.
To use on lips you simply paint onto your lips with the brush as you would use any lip brush, it glides on very easily and dries within a few seconds. I do find that I require a couple of coats. You can also wear this under any of your normal pale glosses to give a fab effect.
SIZES AND COST ....
The product is available from many stores including boots and retails at £24.50 for 13.5ml sized bottle. They also make a small hand bag sized bottle which retails for £10 which is 4.0ml.
Www.boots.com or www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk many department stores also carry Benefit.
I no longer use this stain on my cheeks I have never found the colour right for my complexion however I love it as a lip stain. This product is really fab for summer when you do not want to keep re applying a lip gloss or stick. The effect is not bold but does add a nice colour to the lips for the more natural look. I do not find that the colour lasts as long as advertised but I do still notice colour maybe 3 hours after application which is much longer than my normal glossed and lipsticks. My bottle is a good few years old now and going strong still so although this product might seem very high priced it does last a long time. If someone was wishing to try it you could always by the smaller size direct from Benefit.
I would suggest this to someone wanting something to enhance a natural look rather than something for a night out.
For me this product is 4 stars out of 5.
Summary: Nice product last forever.
