Advantages: Quick, Easy, Natural
Disadvantages: RUB FAST!
I have spent several years and much too much to admit looking for the perfect rouge. One that does not look like I got attacked by the counter women at the makeup counter at the local shoppe. One that works with or without a tan, since of course; you can not wear the same colour in the summer as winter since I spend way too much time out of doors and I turn several shades darker in the summer whether I want to or not. And I am the type who chooses to wear only the barest essentials makeup wise as to not feel as though I have been laquered down by some coture artist trying to make a quick bit of money by shellacking a girl in desperate need of help. I don't declare to be a natural beauty by any keen stretch of the imagination. I just don't see the point of having to chase makeup all day and make sure it hasn't gone south without my prior consent. So the basics: concealer, a bit of light eye shadow, mascara, rouge, and li colour and a pat with pressed compact now and then to chase away the grease monster that insists on chasing me round throughout the course of a day. So the basics need to be good quality, natural looking-but with the power to make me look incredible (which is a feat in and of itself), and can be used throughout the year. I heard about it and hesitatingly tried it. When I got it home(why did I not try it at the store? They have those lights installed there that could make Benny Hill look like Liz Hurley...) I took it out of the package and surveyed it. Red water. That smelled of roses. There was a little residue on the bottom of the glass, so I shook it and it seemed to mix with the rest of the concoction contained therein. The applicator looks like a little bitty paintbrush, so I gingerly painted my cheeks with it, and then rubbed it in (they give you little sponges to assist you with this, but the point of which I do not fully understand since the helpful little sponge drinks up all the red tint from your cheek.) and was plea
santly suprised at the results. Although it is quite hideous as a lip rouge, and I would not recommend using it anywhere but on the cheeks-I love this product, and the little glass vile lasts quite a long time. But beware! Once you put this on your cheeks you must rub it in IMMEDIATELY or you will run the risk of havin interesting red lines on your cheeks instead of a natural looking blush!

- 02/09/01 I was interested to read this opinion as this product seems to be recommended frequently in magazine articles. I might try it - I'm getting bored with my normal powder blusher. |
