Advantages: Perfectly compact for touch ups on the go.
Disadvantages: N/A
Ever curious of Make-up brands I saw a lot of great reviews about this product last year, and it quickly went straight to the top of my Christmas list. So was super happy on Christmas morning when I saw a neatly wrapped little box sat on the top of my present mound. And I have to say, even compared to iPod speakers and Cath Kidston books this was by far my favourite, and most used, present from Christmas 2008. Anyways.. on to the review!
The Brand?
Founded by Jean and Jane Ford in 1976 Benefit has always had somewhat of a cult following. Their first product 'BeneTint' is still one of their best sellers over 30 years later.
Benefit's products now cover just about every base in the beauty trade - from classic lip tints to body balms and perfumes you're easily spoilt for choice.
Another key factor of Benefit's branding is the packaging. Effortlessly fashionable and the perfect mix of Chic and Kitsch you'd be happy to display any of Benefits products on your dresser.
What is it?
Big Beautiful Eyes is a cute, handbag sized palette, consisting of; Benefit's best selling Boi-ing concealer, a pink eyeshadow for base, a nice cocoa shade of shimmery eyeshadow for contours and a chocolate brown shade of powder liner.
In the set you also get 2 mini brushes, one for concealer and the other is double ended - one end is a bristled shadow brush and the other an angled liner brush.
And best of all? It comes with a step by step guide so there's no chance of getting it wrong with this product.
What they claim?
Benefit claim that this set is 'all you need to line, define and contour your eyes like a pro.'
And I have to agree, even from the first use (and I'm pretty clumsy with make-up!) I got flawless results with this little kit. The step-by-step guide is easy to understand and each step is cutely illustrated, in typical Benefit style, with cartoon eyes which make the instructions even clearer to follow.
Results?
As I said above I use this just about every day as it's perfect for work during the week, and with a little bit of shimmery shadow it's easily spruced up for the Weekend.
I've had this palette since last Christmas, and I think I'll easily last me until Christmas this year - although I did hit pan on all the products a few months back it's still going strong.
Only downside of this kit was the brushes - after only a couple uses the little double ended one broke with the eye shadow brush coming off the stick. Even after fixing it back on with super glue it still didn't stay put! Other than that there haven't been any problems with the brushes, they wash well and I've had no problems with bristles falling out.
Pricing?
At £21.50 it's very much a makeup investment. But if you do some classic beauty maths - or at least the kind of maths I do to justify a beauty buy - getting those Big Beautiful Eyes could no be cheaper. For example; If you buy this on, say, January 1st and use it 3 days week for the rest of the year that's only 13p a day for amazing looking eyes, yay!
And yes, that's just the maths I'll be doing in my head when I buy my next Palette!
Summary: Another flawless product from Benefit.
