Advantages: Good value for money, gorgeous shadows which suit most skin tones, widens eyes
Disadvantages: Shadow can mix with concealer after several uses, no brow wax included in pack.
Here I am reviewing yet another beautiful benefit product. The big beautiful eye, an eye contour kit is another one of my make-up favourites. The gorgeous little kit comes packaged in an attractive little magnetic box which makes transportation easy, as items do not fall out and it fits perfectly into your hand-bag.
The product contains the following items which help you achieve a glam wide eyed look:
* boi-ing 02 , industrial-strength concealer
* alabaster pink base shadow
* cocoa shimmer contour shadow
* rich chocolate brown liner shadow
* two brushes for easy application
* an illustrated, step-by-step professional makeup lesson.
The kit retails at £24.50 and can be purchased from Boots, Debenhams or can be dispatched within 24 hours from www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk.
I was first introduced to the product at a benefit make-up counter, I already had the smokin' eyes box set, which I loved and was looking for a similar daytime alternative. The big beautiful eyes provided me with exactly this. The stunning neutral shades look lovely on any skin type, and due to the neutral tones go with most outfits. I have found the pack to be rather versatile, because if I want a daytime look I apply the two lighter shadows and then apply the brown liner shadow to the outside of my eyes and for an evening look I put the chocolate liner shadow on my upper lids which I find creates a more dramatic look.
The kit is perfect for fair haired beauties as if you are not a fan of dark eye liner, you can use the dark brown shadow and liner brush provided to produce a defined but far more subtle look. So you can widen your eyes without using harsh eye pencils. The kit also comes with a boi-ing concealer compartment, which suits my complexion well as I am fair-medium skinned. The concealer really helps to finish the look and perk up tired eyes. I have read from other reviews however that the boi-ing concealer is not suitable for very fair skinned girls.
Overall I really loved this kit, I probably prefer it to the smoking eyes kit as I can wear it day and night and the colours are just so pretty and with practice you can really achieve that big beautiful eyed look! It's really helpful that the kit comes with a step by step guide to help you contour those eyes. I also think it is good value for money, £24.50 seems expensive, but when you consider you get the brushes, a mirror, 3 shadows and a concealer all in one convenient pack it's really not too bad.
The only downside to the product is that I found after a while the dark shadow started to mix a little with the concealer, which can affect the colour of the boi-ing O2. So I have to blow over the boi-ing to ensure I do not get brown streaks in my concealer. I also miss having the brow wax, which is provided by the smoking eyes kits; just because I think I eyebrow definition really finishes any make-up look. I however use the medium brown benefit eye pencil with this kit to finish my look. Apart from these minor flaws I absolutely love this kit and would not be without it!
Summary: A lovely little kit, which really looks gorgeous on most skin tones!
