Boi-ing is an award winning 'industrial strength' concealer made by the brand Benefit, it claims to hide dark circles, shadows and discolouration without creasing or fading. I have had this product for over a year now and although at first I was very reluctant to spend £17.50 on a concealer I am glad I did. So far this is the best Benefit product I have purchased and the one I use most. I do get darkish circles under my eyes and like everyone suffer the occasional spot that comes up at the worst possible time, so I wanted something good that will cover it up well. I came across this while browsing my local large Boots store. The black 3.0 g plastic pot comes in an outer packaging of a small pink cardboard box. It's very attractive looking and eye catching. The black plastic pot is fairly sturdy, I have dropped it several times and it was the last time I dropped it from a height that the edge of the lid chipped away a bit. It's still in good working order though. It's also small enough to fit into a make up bag or clutch bag. The product comes in five different shades: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05. 01 Being the lightest colour and 05 being the deepest. I used 02 and it matches my skin tone perfectly, large Boots and Debenhams have the Benefit counter, if you're unsure which shade you need the Benefit consultant will give you advice and you can test the concealer for free. (Or just get a whole make over for free!) Does the product work? For me yes it does! I apply it the recommended way by using my fingertips to dap it on where I need it and then gently blend it in. It covers up the bags under my eyes really well and straight away I can notice a big difference. I naturally have rosy cheeks too, I have used this on my cheeks and it has prevented the redness coming through which is great as I often worry about looking 'red.' Another great thing about it is that it will completely hide a spot! The bigger the spot the more concealer you need but it generally does such a good job at hiding it. I've had this concealer a year and so far I haven't finished the pot, although I don't wear this everyday. But a little goes a long way and it does last a long time. Even though it's been open a year it still does the job and hasn't gone funny. The concealer is supposed to be long lasting, it's definitely the best concealer I've used when it comes to being long lasting, however a few times I've noticed it's faded out a bit. This is generally down to bad weather or being a bit hot and sweaty on a night out. But for a general day to day use it lasts well. On both the Boots and Benefit website this product has very good 4-5* reviews and it is a best seller. At £17.50 it is expensive but considering a year later I still haven't needed to replace it I'm happy with paying that price. You can buy it from House of Fraser, Debenhams, large Boots stores, Benefit's website, FeelUnique website, QVC and a few other places online. Overall I love this product as it does exactly what it says on the packaging. It's easy to take around with you and fits into a small make up bag, it would be hard to get me to try a different concealer now I've used this. Ingredients in this product are (From the Sephora website): Dioctyl Adipate, Octyl Stearate, Talc, Beeswax, Carnauba (Copernicia Cerifera) Wax, Petrolatum, Corn (Zea Mays) Oil, Octyl Palmitate, Propylene Glycol, Butylparaben, Ctiric Acid, BHA. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides.
= = = = = = = The Product = = = = = = = The product I am reviewing is Boi-ing concealer by Benefit which claims to be an industrial-strength concealer. The award winning concealer camouflages dark circles, shadows and discoloration without creasing or fading. Due to the popularity of this concealer it's now available in five shades ranging from light to deep. Although I went into my local boots store to look at this product I wasn't 100% sure that I was going to buy it or not. Although I currently use a concealer by Max Factor I find that it can sometimes crease, which causes me to look as though I have slight fine lines under my eyes. I had over £40 in boots store cards so I thought I would treat myself to a good concealer. I have heard of this concealer before, as well as reading about it but never decided to try it out until now. After reading various reviews the product sounded quite good, and although it is a little pricey I thought I would treat myself. After reading various reviews and reading about the actual concealer itself I did get my hopes up a little, so was expecting it to be quite good and to live up to its claims. As the concealer comes in five different colours you may want help from the assistant at the counter to choose the right shade for you. I have light skin so went for 01 which is a light shade. Shade 02 looked a little too dark and orange for my liking. There weren't any testers and the assistant was very busy so I decided to take a chance and purchase shade 01 anyway. The concealer comes in a square box which is a pink and black colour. There is a circle cut out the front of the box so you can clearly see the concealer through this cut out circle. On the front of the box it states what the product is and on the top it had the number of the shade which in this case is 01. On the back of the box it tells you a little about the product and also lists the ingredients. Directions for use are also on the back of the box as well. The box opens easily to enable you to remove the concealer which is in a round pot. There should be a small folded up piece of paper in the box as well which tells you different ways in which you can apply the product and other product recommendations. The concealer itself comes in a small round pot which is black in colour. This has a shiny appearance to it and looks like quite a pricey product. There is a clear circle in the middle of the lid which you can see the concealer through. On this part of the lid it has 'Boi-ing' which is obviously the name of the product. There is a label on the bottom of the pot which states what the product is. The lid unscrews easily to reveal the concealer which has a smooth finish to it. = = = = = = = = = Price/Availability = = = = = = = = = I purchased this from my local Boots store for £17.50 which is definitely the most money I have ever spent on a concealer before. You can also purchase this from the boots and from the Benefit website for the same price. You may also be able to purchase the concealer from Amazon and eBay. The full range of shades in this range include: 01 - Light 02 - Light/Medium 03 - Medium 04 - Medium/Deep 05 - Deep = = = = = = = = = Using the Product = = = = = = = = = Applying with my Fingertip - You can actually apply this product in a few different ways. You can either apply it using your fingertip or with a concealer brush, whichever you prefer. If using your fingertip, dab the concealer on the darkest areas you want to target such as underneath each eye. Start at the inner corners by the bridge of your nose, or over any other flaws and pat gently outward to blend. Benefit suggest pat concealer between your thumb and fingertip to warm it up, making it glide on more easily. If using a foundation brush simply dab each side of the brush in the concealer and pat this gently onto the area you want to conceal. Continue doing this until you are happy with the results. With concealer some people may prefer to put it on before foundation and other prefer to put it on afterwards. I personally prefer putting it on before foundation. After applying primer to my face and using a special hydrating under eye primer, I got ready to apply the product. On this particular occasion I was going to use my fingertip to apply the product, so before touching the concealer I washed and dried my hands to ensure they were clean and now germ free. I unscrewed the lid to the pot and gently using my fingertips rubbed this across the top of the concealer to ensure that some appeared onto my fingertip. I had to do this a few times as I noticed the concealer needs a little help warming up on first use. Once the concealer had warmed up it becomes creamier which makes it easier to apply. I dabbed the concealer under each eye. When doing this I could see that some of the concealer was transferred onto the area beneath my eye; how-ever it wasn't really that obvious. I continued to pat this area lightly until the concealer looked matte and well blended. After doing this I decided that I was going to apply a little more as I couldn't really see a huge difference at the moment. I again warmed the concealer up between my fingertips and dabbed some more of the concealer under my eyes where the dark shadows are. I have to admit that I didn't really find this product very easy to apply to my skin. Applying with a Brush - On the benefit website if you look up this product you can watch a short video on how to apply the product using the brush which I found very helpful. Simply rub each side of the brush lightly over the concealer to ensure that some of the product is on both sides of the brush. Dab the brush on the area you want to conceal such as a blemish or dark circles under the eyes. I found that the concealer was a lot easier to apply with a brush that it was when applying it with my fingertips and I found that when using the brush I could build the concealer up a little as well. I think the results were a lot better when applying the product with a brush and I will continue to apply the product like this whenever I use the concealer. = = = = Results = = = = After applying the 2nd lot of the product I stood back and looked at the results. Although the dark shadows under my eyes weren't as obvious the results didn't 'wow' me and I actually though that my previous concealer did a much better job at covering the dark circles. I was a little surprised at this as I read nothing but mainly good reviews about this product. I was wondering if I had applied the product with a foundation brush perhaps I may have got better results so I would try this next time when using the product. I wanted to see how long lasting the concealer was, so I applied my foundation and loose powder and went out with my boyfriend. The concealer seemed to stay looking good all night and the dark circles still appear to look less obvious during the night. I didn't need to re-apply the product which was good as I didn't bring have it in my bag with me anyway. At the end of the night when removing my make up using a facial cleansing wipe the concealer came off easily and hadn't caused any irritation to my eyes. When using a brush to apply the concealer I think the results were much better and the dark shadows under my eyes appeared to look much more faded that they had when using my fingertip to apply the product. I like that the concealer doesn't feel heavy despite building it up a little and I found it to be long lasting. I again didn't need to re-apply the product during the night which was good as I didn't have to worry about it wearing off or starting to look a little patchy if it had worn off. Despite building the concealer up more when using the brush it was still easily removed at the end of the day/evening using a facial cleansing wipe. The concealer doesn't dry out my skin which is good as I often have slightly dry skin during the winter and colder months. I did find that the concealer doesn't work very well on slightly dry areas of skin as it tends to make the dry skin look a little more obvious. = = = = = = = = Overall Opinion = = = = = = = = I was expecting good things from this concealer after reading reviews about it and hearing good things about it from other people and after reading various different beauty blogs. The product comes in nice packaging which means it's easy and perfect for fitting into a make up bag. As the lid is screw on it means that there's very little chance of the lid coming off in your make up bag. There is a good range of different shades to choose from to match your skin tone and if you are unsure what shade to go for then you can ask someone at the Benefit counter. As previously stated in the review I chose the shade myself and managed to pick the perfect shade for my skin. When rubbing my finger across the concealer ready to apply it, I did think the consistency of the product was a little thick in comparison to other concealer I have used. I found the product quite hard to apply with my fingertip despite following the instructions as in the leaflet. I found the product much easier to apply with a small foundation brush and I also found the coverage a lot better as well. The concealer definitely helps to conceal dark circles and blemishes without drying out your skin. I found the concealer to be long lasting without having to apply anymore of the concealer during the day or the night. The concealer doesn't work very well on slightly dry skin as I find that this can make the dry skin look a little more obvious and the concealer doesn't look smooth when applying it to dry areas. In terms of value the concealer is rather pricey in comparison to what I would normally pay for one; how-ever it does work well and really does help to conceal blemishes and dark shadows. As I don't wear full make up everyday and normally only wear a full fake of make up during the weekend then this product will last me a decent amount of time before I need to purchase anymore. I would definitely recommend this concealer to others so long as you don't mind paying the price for it. (review will also appear on ciao)
The concealer comes in a pretty box and held in a circular pot that easily twists off. At first glance it looks very appealing (however very small). The lid has a plastic top so that you can clearly see the concealer colour and also see how much is left to use also the pot feels durable and unlikely to break if i put it in my make up bag. The concealer itself is greasy and very heavy - it does not come with an applicator brush which i think would improve this product and make it easier to apply - also when you are running out it is hard to get the concealer off of the sides of the pot (if it was in a stock concealer it would be easier with less waste). It does feel very heavy however it is easy to blend in and doesn't show once foundation and powder is on. It does not rub off easily so good for hiding any redness on my skin. For me it felt too heavy and no one noticed any difference from when i don't wear concealer - i was hoping the Boing effect would be noticeable! I paid £16.50 for this pot which I think is very expensive especially for the size of the pot and the amount that you actually get in the pot. The box is big and the edged of the pot are thick so you are getting less than uyou expect. Overall i am satisfied with the product but i don't think I would buy it again unless it was on offer as i don't feel that this is value for money.
Okay, I have to confess... I am a Benefit addict! I absolutely love lots of their products, and have found (despite the odd disappointing product) that their range is generally first rate for natural looking flawlessness. Despite all this, I have to say that Boi-ing is my favourite beauty product of all time, instantly creating confidence and hiding what needs to be concealed. I even use it on an unfortunate scar I have on my leg (a result of clumsiness, rather than something with an interesting story!) and find it covers this as well as any facial imperfections or blemishes. I will generally use shade 01 as I have a very fair complexion, however this is very pale so it's worth checking before purchase. There isn't a huge range of Boi-ing shades available, so lots of people may need to blend rather than sticking to the one shade. Fortunately this is very simple either using a concealer brush or the back of your hand, and between the 3 shades available, most complexions should be covered. Blending shades can also be useful if you have a tan, or are using on the pale undereye area as well as other facial areas. As other reviewers have noted, the picture used is an old one and this product no longer comes with a mirror, but instead has a screw-on lid with a plastic window. The product does at first appear to be very small for the price, however as with many Benefit cosmetics, a little goes a long way and this will tend to last very well in comparison to many other concealers. It has a lovely creamy texture which doesn't get trapped in fine lines or wrinkles and can either be worn as a stand-alone product or alongside foundation. The catch phrase 'industrial strength concealer' may put some consumers off, who could feel that they are going to look 'caked'. However, despite the coverage being very good, the product doesn't overwhelm skin and it's possible to achieve a very natural look with proper blending. I would recommend trying the different shades before committing to one, or buying the two closest shades to your natural skin tone in order to blend the product.
Item: Benefit Boi-ing (Industrial Strength Concealer) Colour/Shade: 01 Light Size: 3g Price: £17.50 Bought in: Debenhams Packaging and design: The picture above is the much older design of this product, many years back when I first started buying this, it did indeed come with a mirror and a clip lid but it now has a clear lid that screws off. I am not sure if they removed the mirror to ensure that they could keep the costs down or that it made more sense to have a screw on lid as it stays closed better but it now has a clear lid that screws on and off. The overall packaging for this product is still black plastic and is one of the more "universal" designs that will suit a wide range of customers. Some Benefit products can be very bright and colourful but this one is more "sensible" looking and I don't imagine older customers would be put off purchasing it. Also it is essentially a beauty basic so it makes sense to me that the packaging is plainer on this item. The box that the concealer pot comes in is bright pink with little black edges that makes me think it looks like a tiny little suitcase. There is s see through section on the front of the box so you can actually see the colour of the concealer through the box which is handy. Across the top section of the box it tells you that it is Benefit and on the very top of the box it states the colour in what looks like a tiny little label, again reinforcing the idea that the box is a tiny suitcase. The back of the box has some details on ingredients and details of the Benefit offices. The concealer pot itself is all black as I mentioned before and is quite sedate looking in comparison to the box it arrives in. The pot has a clear plastic front and you can see the concealer though it. The name "boi-ing" is written across the middle of the clear section and between the "boi" and the "ing" there is a curly line instead of a straight line which indicates the "boi-ing" effect like a spring haha actually it also reminds me of a pigs tail! The lid twists on and off securely and I have never feared that it will come loose in my makeup bag. The clear plastic section is also very sturdy and has never cracked or come loose from the outer edge of the lid. The label on the back of the pot has details on the shade/number and details the size of the pot (3g) and states "industrial strength concealer"! Overall I like that the box is colourful but that the pot is plain. The pot is fuss free and stays closed easily and you can see the product through it, which is ideal. I don't miss the mirror as it was very small anyways and the lid didn't close as securely on the older design. Coverage and application: "Industrial strength concealer" is not something that many concealers would have as their tag line and neither they should as not many have been up to the standard of this one. I have used this concealer for a number of years, way back when I was young enough to not even have dark circles under my eyes! I have always liked to use a concealer to even out my skin tone and to brighten the under area of my eyes and in the years before BB creams and primers were invented I used to dab this over and under my eyes so that my eye makeup would stay in place longer. I have always used the 01 shade as I like this area of my face to be extra light and I feel that as I used a medium foundation and powder that the concealer should be extra light to let is shine through. The concealer itself is really quite thick and like a paste, rather than being a liquid. To apply it I dab my finger in the pot and dot this along my under eye and eye lid. The heat from my finger tips and skin starts to soften the paste and it is easy to rub in within a few seconds. As the concealer is so thick you don't need to use a lot and this little pot can last me up to 2 months. The concealer "sets" in place after around 30 seconds and I can go ahead and apply the rest of my makeup. it really does help my eye makeup stay in place and when I use this I see less creases on my eye lids. My head has been turned in more recent times and I have bought other products from Benefit to lighten my under eyes and from other companies but I really do feel that this one is the best. This is an excellent product that really does give you good coverage. I rarely use it on other parts of my skin but if I do get a spot I will dab a tiny bit over it and it covers them too. On looking this up I notice that there seems to be more colours available now too. When I started to use it, I'm sure it just came in shades 1 to 3 but there now appears to be shades 4 and 5 also so looks like they are more chances that you will find a shade to suit you. Thankfully I have always been able to use shade 1 and been happy with the results so haven't had to try others. If you are looking to buy this product fr the first time though I would really recommend that you go in to the store and get a skin test as the colours look very different either online or in the pot to what they look on your skin. Overall a great product that really does give me industruial strength concealment haha
I am a huge fan of benefit cosmetics and have tried lots of their products. One of my all time favourite products has to be Boi-ng if I were ever to end up on a desert island then this would be on my make up essentials list. Boi-ng is described as industrial strength concealer and I have found it conceals a multitude of sins. Spots, dark circles and other flaws are simply no match for this product. There are six shades available and as I have very pale skin I normally use 01. It comes in a black screw top container with see through lid and costs £17.50 on the Debenhams website for 3g. However this small pot really does last a very long time. To use you simply apply a very small amount to problem areas and blend before applying the rest of your make up. It has excellent staying power and glides on and I find I do not need to reapply during the day. Unlike the Ohh la lift you do need to wear make up over the top, but it gives a beautiful flawless and fresh finish especially if used with with You Rebel and Some Kinda gorgeous. I find Boi-ng on its own can be a little too heavy for my under eye area so use Ohh La lift over the top which works beautifully. For me this is the only very slight drawback. I honestly feel this product whilst expensive is well worth the price tag as it really does work, and as you only need such a small amount the pot really does last a very long time.
Benefit Boi-ing industrial strength cream concealer From the review's I have written so far in my time here at Dooyoo it is probably evident that I do tend to love Benefit's range of make-up products and I keep going back for more. I don't really think I am all that brand loyal and especially not when it comes to make- up because there are just so many great items on the market but the Boi-ing industrial strength cream concealer is one product that I have found hard to beat, so much so that it's probably the only make-up item I own that I have bought time and time again. It's probably the one little beauty product that I couldn't live without, it really is the best concealer I have come across for hiding any unwanted blemishes. There are a lot of plus points to the Boi-ing concealer including its easy application, and longevity. I'm not going to talk you through all the ways to apply the concealer but I have found that the slight heat from your fingers allows for best application. You can still apply the concealer with a brush if you prefer but I certainly find that I get the best and quickest results from layering a small amount of the concealer onto any problem areas with my index finger. The Boi-ing concealer does work really well at covering any red or blotchy patches of skin as well as any nasty spots that may rear their ugly head. Depending on your personal preference you can just as easily apply the concealer as a base to your foundation or on top of it just to add some extra coverage. I also think the concealer looks just as good applied on its own when you really don't have the time to spare to apply a full face of make-up, but just don't want the whole world to see that huge zit forming on your chin. A slight word of warning, I don't tend to personally suffer from much dry skin on my face but from time to time I do get the odd little patch and because of the thick nature of Benefit's Boi-ing concealer it can make any dry skin look worse. There are ways of getting around this by either applying the concealer on top of rather than underneath a moisturising foundation or just by making sure you moisturise and exfoliate well before applying your make-up. It's just something worth keeping in mind if you have dry skin, you might be better with a more liquid than cream concealer. Don't get me wrong this concealer is great, fantastic in fact, but it does have its limitations and I would have to say that it isn't the best under eye concealer out there. It doesn't reflect the light and hide those pesky dark circles as well as some other concealers that are specifically designed to that in mind. I'm not sure how many of these concealers I have used now but I have been using the Benefit Boi-ing industrial strength concealer one after the other for years now and I still like it as much as I did when I first tried it. It's just such a good make-up basic that never lets me down and I even love the simple design of the packaging that Benefit have came up with. Unlike the picture above the new packaging is very similar but instead of the flip open lid there is a little screw top lid, it is just so easy to use and the case is hard enough to be thrown into and out of my bags on a regular basis. The concealer does cost £16.50, but for your money you do get a product that will last you a couple of months even with daily usage. Recommended? Absolutely, it's a great product and one that does exactly what you want from a good concealer. Just make sure and match your correct skin tone from the range available and I doubt anyone would have many negative things to say about the Boi-ing concealer. If it was possible I would give the Benefit's Boi-ing concealer more than just five out of five stars. It is one of my all time favourite make-up essentials and I'm sure it will continue to be so for a long time to come.
I bought this some time last year and used it for a few months until I finished it. I thought I'd share my thoughts on it with you. This concealer from benefit comes in a circular pot with a lid that twists off. The pot is made from black plastic which is very durable and strong. The lid has a clear panel in the centre which allows you to see the contents of the pot, and judge how much you have left. The lid twists on and off relatively easy, though it is made to be very secure so it could potentially be a little easier to twist (especially with wet or greasy hands). The fact that it is secure though is a great thing for me because it means I can travel with it safe in the knowledge that it won't open in transit. I think the design of the product is very sleek and simple. It is also very functional, easy to use and the right size to carry around or travel with. Overall I really like the way it look, my only wish is that it maybe was made a little taller and not as shallow as the pot actually contains relatively little concealer. When you begin to run out it is also pretty difficult to get to the edges of the pot too. The concealer itself feels quite thick and heavy. I tend to use my finger to apply it and dab it under my eyes, on my eyelids, my nose and my chin to conceal redness and blemishes. Although it feels quite thick it does blend in relatively easily and leaves these areas looking smooth and brighter than before. Your skin automatically looks fresher because of this and any signs of redness or tiredness are hidden. I think it is particularly good for covering blemishes because it is thick and doesn't tend to rub off all that easily. The overall appearance is really lovely and as the concealer comes in a variety of different shades there should be one to match everyone. This was my only real issue that when advised in store by a beauty assistant at the benefit counter she advised me to take a darker shade than really suits my skin. This is a little disappointing as they obviously are meant to have training to match skin colours, but I suppose I should have just opted for the light shade. The product costs £16.50 which has the be the biggest negative for me and the reason I haven't bought it again. I think this is a ridiculous price for what is just a concealer, and one which you don't actually get a huge amount of either. I'm quite disappointed in Benefit because a lot of their products last me forever and are therefore great value for money. This product is good quality but needs to be at least half the price before I'm convinced to go back and buy another one. Overall, a nice concealer at a ridiculous price.
Boi-ing was one of the first benefit products I bought, I was attracted to the brightly coloured benefit counter in boots one day and after looking at their products and then being put off because of the price, decided to save up the £16. I chose shade 01 as my skin is very pale. The packaging is one of Benefits more boring ones but is not a product that should be overlooked because of this, a concealer should be an essential in everyones makeup bag... especially this one! I instantly fell in love with this concealer, it covered all my blemishes really well and the dark circles under my eyes were gone, I also use a small bit down my nose as the matte texture gets rid of the shine here. Which is another good point about Boi-ing, it isn't one of those weird shiny concealer that sort of highlight where you've covered a spot and it doesn't need to be left to dry for a few seconds, the effect is instant. Nowadays I only use Boi-ing for blemishes and have bought Benefits Erase Paste for my under eyes as it has some extra light reflecting qualities. Boi-ing is still great and some people do prefer it but I personally prefer the creaminess of Erase Paste for my undereyes and I often use both if I look extra tired. Anyway back to Boi-ing, the application is very easy, I use my fingers and blend it into my skin where it needs to go, some people use a brush but I think you need the warmth from your fingers to make it blend in best. I do reapply this through out the day and can be used ontop of makeup but I don't think there will ever be a concealer you don't have to reapply atleast once. Boi-ing is most definitely worth the high price tag because it covers blemishes really well and also lasts a really long time even if you use it everyday like me. None of the product goes to waste either because it is packaged in a small shallow container, much like a round eyeshadow would be. I recommend this to everyone and would be very lost without!!
I purchased this concealer off eBay as it was a little too expensive instore. I paid £6.99 for my pot as it was listed as "seconds", due to the bashed packaging. However the concealer itself was fine - no marks or scratches. It was just the box that was damaged. It's £16.50 in Boots, significantly more expensive than what I paid! The concealer is great for hiding dark circles under the eyes. It helps to even out your skin tone - hiding the evidence of the night before! I find the concealer easy enough to apply. I apply it gently with my fingertips, dotting the concealer on first before I rub it in - the store assistant kindly told me to apply it this way. The concealer goes on well without feeling too heavy and the lighter colour blends in well with my pale skin. You can't tell that i'm wearing it once it has been blended in - so i've been told anyway! The concealer hides my dark circles, making me look more awake and younger, which is a great thing! I am NOT old aged 26 but it definitely makes your skin look more youthful as it hides "bags" and makes your entire eye area look much more radiant and it leaves you with glowing skin too. I would recommend this concealer to all - especially people with paler skin tones like myself. I also like the packaging as you can see the concealer underneath the see-through lid, which I like as you can grab a colour quickly and go!
If you read my previous review, I have found a new love for Benefit recently and went on a bit of a spending spree. I brought various products that I use almost every day and some which are only rarely used because I can't bring myself to use them all up! Dark circles are one of my main issues as I work/study 7 days a week and do coursework into the early hours most nights. I hardly ever sleep if I'm honest hence why I'm on here so much! No matter how many remedies I have tried I just can't seem to get rid of them - not without ridiculously expensive products anyway. Luckily for me, my friend works in Benefit so she straight away recommended Boi-ing when I explained my problem with finding a good concealer. I did actually think it was a compact powder when I first saw it though! Despite wondering about her bias opinion about her beloved company, I still took her advice and tried the product out. I didn't buy it straight away though I just borrowed hers as we have the same skin tone luckily. The concealer as I have mentioned before looks like a compact powder to me, although its a concealer. The pot is black and has a see through lid with some black detailing and the word 'Boi-ing' written on the top. It comes inside a box which has a cut out front showing the clear window. The lid screws on and goes firmly so you don't need to worry about it coming off and allowing the make-up to go everywhere. I like how Benefit all have information leaflets inside which tell you how to best use the product. Its a definite help if you're not a make-up whizz! The concealer comes in three shades and they describe it as being 'industrial strength' so it will combat all dark circles. I brought the medium shade as I wear fake tan a lot so I wanted one which wasn't too much if I was pale or tanned. The three shades don't really differ dramatically but there is an obvious difference. The concealer is quite thick as its in a compact and you will need to hold it in your hands for a little while to warm it up so it glides easily without being too stiff to come away from the compact. To use the concealer you need to use your finger, as I find a sponge or brush doesn't work as well. Just be sure to wash your hands before you use it so you don't get the compact dirty. I like that when you get the concealer on your finger it comes out quite thick but once its on your skin it is quite light and doesn't feel smothering. I like that it isn't noticeably on your skin but it covers problem areas well. I have had the concealer now for about 3 months and ive only just made a well in the surface, I think it will probably last me another 9 months at least if I use roughly the same amount every month. I don't think I use it every single day, but I use it about 5/7 days of the week and only need to apply it once a day to keep it nice. The only time I ever use more is for a night out or when it rains and the make-up gets washed away which is very rarely. £16 roughly for a compact is quite expensive, but to be honest it lasts a very long time and I'd say its worth it. You won't get a cheap compact that is any good and as big in size! You can pick up this concealer at most Benefit make-up counters inside department stores. In my opinion, this is one of my favourite if not my only favourite concealer. I would recommend it to anyone who is wanting to cover blemishes on their face! It definitely covered my dark circles and I no longer feel like I have to constantly be paranoid about them - they're tucked away!
Firstly i have to confess i LOVE this brand and have been using it's products since 2002 when one of my best friends at uni introduced me to the range. The packaging is girly and gorgeous and the products do indeed work wonders! I have tried most of the range but this little beauty is one of my 'must have' products and a permeanant staple in my makeup bag. The concealer comes in three shades to suit different skin tones and can be worn under other makeup, it's amazing at covering dark circles and those nasty red under the skin type spots. Even though i'm 30 i still suffer from the odd breakout at my time of the month or due to stress and this fab little pot is great at covering all types of spots, from pimples to the 'oh my god an alien has landed on my face' variety. Top tip -i also find a little on my eyelids gives my eye makeup a little bit of extra staying power (it acts like a primer) for a night out. Another tip is it's great used in conjunction with Benefits concealer pen 'Lyin Eyes' which is a liquid formula similar to bo-ing. The formula is light and best applied with clean dry finger tips. It looks natural once on and doesn't go flakey or make the spot your covering look like a blob of choccy on your chin. It's also available in a set that Benefit make called 'Realness of Concealness' with mini versions of five products in and i think that's great for trying out a few products without shelling out for all the full size versions. You can always buy the full sized versions of your favourites. The price tag of this product is a little higher than most but this is reflected in it's quality, i've tried other concealers over the years and they just don't compare. It's worth that little bit extra and you can always put it on your list of birthday presents or christmas stocking fillers. Look out for promos at Boots and online stockists if you want a high end product with a bit of a discount ;)
On the eve of my last birthday night out I woke to find a second head had grown on my chin. I had one of those huge red under the skin spots and being very fair skinned it stood out like a red beacon, even after applying make up. A friend of mine was visiting and she introduced me to benefits Boi-ing industrial-strength concealer. Not only was I impressed at the products ability to cover up my spot but also its' ability to withstand the majority of the night in sweaty pubs and clubs. So off to my local Debenhams I went to purchase some of my very own. I have not been blessed with the best skin, it is very fair and I often have blotches and am prone to spots. Benefits Boi-ing claims to hide a multitude of sins, be it dark circles, shadows or discolouration -sounds like a miracle in a pot! The girl at the Benefit counter also advised me it is anti-bacterial so will help clear up spots(however, there is no mention of this on the box). The product itself comes in a round black pot which has a screw on lid and a clear circle in the top so you can see the product. The packaging is a very cute pink box with black dots. There are three shades available-I have the lightest available-shade 01. Application is simple and straight forward, simply rub your finger in the pot and apply to desired areas. I use this every day under my eyes and to disguise any blemishes. Initially, I used a brush to apply, but I find it blends much better using your fingers. I must admit, had I not tried before buying I think the name of this product would have put me off. For me, the word industrial gives the impression of heavy duty and I would think the product would be heavy. However, I found quite the opposite, I found the consistency no thicker than any other concealer I have tried, in fact it is surprisingly light on the skin and blends well with my foundation. At £16.50 for a 3g pot this stuff is not cheap, however I do believe worth it. It does exactly what it says on the box and the longevity of this product enhances value for money. This has definitely become a staple for my make up bag.
My dark, under eye circles are the bane of my life. I think I must have tried every lotion and potion promising miracle cures but alas non of these have made the blindest bit of difference. I get enough sleep and have a very healthy diet but unfortunately it appears that I have inherited these from my dear old dad and I may have to live with them. I wear glasses most of the time and as I have slightly dark lenses (as they change colour with light intensity) they are not so noticable. However I do on occasion wear contact lenses and I am very conscious of how dark my circles actually are. I tried various concealers on the market but as I have medium brown skin these did not blend very well and in fact rather than hiding my circles they seemed to illuminate them drawing even more attention to them - no something I really wanted! Then a couple of years ago I discovered the MAC studio finish range of concealers. I used this fairly regularly for two years but as the packaging recommends discarding the product after 24 months I discontinued using this and went off to buy another concealer. I had fully intended to just replace my MAC concealer with a new one in the same range however I wanted to get some advice about shades as I felt the one I had was a little too dark and didn't blend into my skin perfectly. I turned up at the MAC counter in Selfridges on Oxford St but they were extremely busy - I hung around for about 10 minutes but there was a long queue for consultations in front of me so I decided to head off. My next stop happened to be Boots and I spotted the Benefit counter, which happened to have no customers around it so I decided to ask for some advice about concealers there. My sister is a fan of the Benefit range of cosmetics. She actually uses one of their concealers and recommends them highly so I thought I would ask the lady on the counter to try some on my skin. The lady suggested that the boi-ing concealer would be a good one for my skin and proceeded to apply some under my eyes. After applying and blending the concealer the lady handed me a mirror and I was really impressed with the results. My dark circles were no longer drew attention to themselves and the concealer had blended in quite well so I couldn't tell I was wearing some (unless I looked extremely closely). I was impressed enough to part with my cash - not easy as at £16.50 for a 3g pot this stuff isn't exactly cheap! The concealer itself is housed in a black pot with a screw on lid. The lid has a clear circle in it through which the product can be seen. The plastic pot comes packaged in a square cardboard box that is pink and black. It has circle on the front covered in see through plastic film through which the colour of the concealer can be seen. I think I would have preferred the concealer to have a flip open lid rather than a screw type as I do sometimes find it a little fiddly to open. There is a leaflet inside the box that contains further details about the product. The concealer is what Benefit call 'Industrial strength' which they claim will camouflage dark circles, shadows and discolouration for a seamless natural looking finish without creasing or fading. Believe me, with my dark circles, only industrial strength will do! The concealer comes in 3 shades; light, medium and dark, which should suit most skin tones, and the one suggested for me was the dark one. I was a bit sceptical with their only being three tones available as I don't think all skin tones can be classified in 3 categories! It may therefore be difficult to find the correct shade for some people, though gladly (and rather surprisingly) for me this did not prove to be an issue. To apply I take a small make-up brush and apply some of the concealer under my eyes. I then blend in gently with my ring finger as this means I do not apply too much pressure to the delicate skin under my eyes. I find the product is a little difficult to blend if it's cold, which results in a slightly pasty look so I tend to warm the pot slightly in my hands or by placing it close to (but not on top of) a radiator before use. I have used this product regularly for the last 8 months and have been pleased with the results each and every time. Once applied the concealer stays put and doesn't need to be constantly reapplied regardless of how hot or cold it is. At the end of he day this is easy to remove either with a facial wipe or with my normal cleansing wash. Despite regular use I've barely made a dent in the product. Surprisingly there doesn't appear to be a 'discard' date on the box but I suspect it'll be around 24 months as well. Overall I am really pleased with my purchase and can't fault the concealer. It is a little pricey but a little does go a long way and as it doesn't have to be replaced regularly it does work out to be really good value for money. It's certainly a concealer I shall consider again when I run out!
Benefit provide consumers with quirky products at high-end prices. Can you really justify the high prices in comparison with the results they provide? *Overview Luckily I don't yet suffer from lines or circles but like most people I am prone to the odd unsightly breakouts on my face. What I need is a concealer strong enough to mask these imperfections but kind enough not to make any spots even worse! And that's where benefit's Boi-ing concealer comes in handy. Benefit describe Boi-ing by stating "This industrial-strength concealer camouflages dark circles, shadows and discoloration for a seamless, natural-looking finish without creasing or fading. You name it, boi-ing helps hide it! Available in three shades...when in doubt, choose boi-ing" So is their advise worth following or avoiding at all costs? *About Benefit Benefit Cosmetics were founded in San Francisco, California in 1976 by twin sisters Jean and Jane Ford. They initially founded their business as a beauty boutique, and they then specialized in quick-fix products for beauty dilemmas. Benefit Cosmetics have been into a global beauty brand and they are now sold in 30 countries. Their first shop was named The Face Place and their first product was a blush and lip tint called "Rose tint" (now renamed "benetint"). Benetint was originally designed for an exotic dancer who was in need of a nipple tint and remains the company's best-selling product. In 1989, they developed their extensive catalogue of products and soon after the original Face Place was re-named Benefit Cosmetics. In 1991 Benefit opened up in its first U.S. department store - Henri Bendel, in New York City. Benefit went international in 1997 with their expansion into Harrods in London. Soon after, the Benefit Cosmetics product website was launched. They have had continued success and they are ever expanding their product range full of fun and innovative products for every girl's beauty dilema. *What attracted me I first tried this product before my senior ball. We went to get a makeover by benefit in Harvey Nichols in order to free ourselves of any make-up related crisis and to get some professional advise. This involes a make-up artist from the Benefit cosmetics counter using a variety of their products in order to achieve the make-up look that you have specified. Before this I hadn't really been a big consumer of concealers as I would instead just put extra foundation over any imperfections however this admittedly doesn't provide you with the most natural looking coverage. So just my luck that because we had a ball and everyone would be looking their best I had to get a huge spot on my face. And I have to say it wasn't just a little one that could easily be hidden, it was the sort of thing that could have rented out a room for itself. Being a teenager and particularly highly strung when I woke up to this blemish on my face I immediately informed my mum that I wouldn't be going out tonight and instead I would be hibernating until my skin decided to heal. Luckily she convinced me to go get my make-up done (which is free if you have an appointment/a benefit gift voucher) and thankfully I did because I was introduced to a product I have used ever since, Benefit's Boi-ing concealer. *Price/Availability The concealer is quite pricey as you will be charged £16.50 for 3g of the product. However although it is quite a small amount that you get it lasts ages because you don't need to apply too much and it is really long lasting. You can buy Benefit online from their website (www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk/gp/home.html) and also from ASOS online. Benefit cosmetics are far more readily available on the high street than they used to be and you will now find them in Boots as well as most department stores - for example House of Fraser, Debenhams as well as Harvey Nichols. They are always sold at a benefit counter meaning that you get help and advice with the use of your products and therefore you get a shopping experience far from just making a simple purchase. *Design One thing with is a shame about the product is that they have changed the packaging from the first time that I bought it. When I first got the product it came in a compact style which had a small mirror on the side opposite the concealer. This was really handy as it meant that you could carry it in your handbag and you didn't need to carry a separate mirror. However they have now changed the packaging and it comes in a small circular black tub which has a screw off lid with see-through plastic on the top so that you can see through to the product. The plastic has the "Boi-ing" logo written on it in black letter and I am guessing this is because the product was previously black and sleek but didn't give many clues about the make-up range that it was from. To be fair the new packaging does seem more in keeping with the rest of the Benefit collection - which have a fun and flirty theme. They state that Boi-ing's "See-through lid helps you easily locate boi-ing in your makeup bag or handbag!" so maybe that was the reason for the change and I do agree the product still looks great, it is just that I have a bit of a biased view of it as I first purchased it in its original compact. *Colour Though the Boi-ing range does not come with a large range of shades - this is actually quite handy as sometimes you can be overwhelmed as there are too many to choose from. And you should still blend it with your foundation or tinted moisturised therefore this is in fact more advantageous than it first seems. The shades offered are simple: ~ 01 - Light ~ 02 - Medium ~ 03 - Deep The shades seem fairly self explanatory - I personally use shade 02 (medium) - but I would always suggest that you go and visit Benefit yourself so that you have an expert's advice as to which colour suits you best. I love that this concealer looks really natural and does help to hide blemishes without sitting on top of the skin and because it is light reflecting it helps to draw attention away from the imperfection. *Coverage/Last The great thing about this concealor cream is that the consistency means that you get a great coverage - without it being so creamy that it simply slides off your face within an hour of application. The concealer can cover an unsightly blemish upon application and this result then lasts me the whole day without sliding off or drying out. A good concealer is key because if not you can end up highlighting the imperfection instead of concealing it. Personally I find that Boi-oing provides me with lasting coverage all day long without any need for reapplication. *Application Another thing that I like about this product is that it is very easy to apply. I personally use a concealer brush to apply it because doing so means that you are not wasting the concealer that will absorb into your skin if you use your finger. It also makes blending a whole lot easier. However Benefit advise that you should "Pat concealer between your thumb and fingertip to warm it up...it will glide on more seamlessly". Whether you choose to use a brush or your finger you should "dab boi-ing on the darkest areas you want to target...underneath each eye, at the inner corners by the bridge of your nose, or over any other flaws. Pat gently outward to blend." I do sometimes use my finger to dab some on if I don't have my brush with me and I find that works just as well. *Conclusion I love benefit Boi-ing and have never found a concealer that compares. It provides a great product that really lasts, both throughout the day and throughout the products lifespan as you use very little. I would look upon Benefit's Boi-ing concealer as a sensible and worthwhile investment for your make-up bag. Love Colleen x
