Advantages: Total coverage

Disadvantages: UK prices are a lot more expensive than USA costs

When l was in Boston, MA (Dec 04), l bought a lot of Benefit products; they were simply bargains in comparison to the price one pays at home. With the dollar and pound rate being in favour of British shoppers l was getting the goods at just over half price.

I needed a new concealer in my makeup bag, and after reading the Benefit catalogue l choose one called BOI – ING – strange name l will readily admit – but then most of the Benefit range are oddly named.

I bought my concealer at the Benefit counter in Filenes’s Department Store in Boston, but in the UK there are Benefit counters to be found in large Boots Stores and in Belfast l know Debhenams sells the range.

So cost implications – l am quoting the dollar price here – it was $15 and at a rate of $1.88 (that’s what my credit card gave me at the time) that works out at around £7.98. In comparison to a Rimmel stick this is dear but l do feel the product is worthwhile. In the UK prices (now correct me if l am wrong) l think for the same product are around £15 mark so l made good savings.

Boi-ing comes in a black circular compact, nothing outlandish or extravagant. There is a small Benefit logo at the bottom edge of the circular compact – this is starting to come away though. You simply flip the catch open to expose a mirror compact and the actual product.

The product comes in 3 colours – 01, 02, and 03. I chose the medium 02 colour to blend in with my skin tone.

To apply simply use your fingertips, lightly rub across the product and then blend into the ‘blemished’ area, or use it to colour in those dark circles under your eyes.

The product packaging claims Boi-ing to be that of an industrial strength concealer, which will not crease or fade. These are strong claims. I have used it everyday now for a month since coming home and l am now a strong supporter of this industrial strength concealer!

I blend in the tiniest amount prior to putting on my main foundation. What is great is the fact that you only need the tiniest amount – so even if you are wary of the cost implications the value for money and longevity of the product mean its cash well spent. The consistency of the concealer is grainy to the touch, but it covers smoothly and any unsightly marks or spots become blended into your skin, all but disappearing. Now, this is great when you put on your slap first thing in the morning, but what about when you hit 3 o’clock that afternoon – has it practically sunk into your skin, leaving the imperfections on sight for all to see – well no. Its obviously not as fresh as newly applied makeup – but l must admit when l have gone to check how lm holding up lm quite happy.

Boi-ing gets ticks in all the right boxes – its stylish sleek packaging, the inside compact mirror to check your face through out the day, the claims of industrial strength coverage – which whilst perhaps not industrial are certain excellent giving great blemish/dark circle coverage, it blends in without effort and it lasts, both after application and the product itself only requires minimum usage giving longevity. I am giving Benefits Boi-ing a huge thumbs up!

I love Benefit, and am due for a trip to the US this year, so I might pick some supplies up!

Benefit stuff is just so great, I'm a huge lover of Dandelion and She-Laq, have yet to try this product but it's going on my list right now! Sam
